  • The cost on transmission and election of precast concrete members largely depends on the weight of them. In this study, the weight of prestressed precast beam could be reduced by control the section and prestressing force to meet the required strength on the basis of the optimum process. The top and bottom concrete stress of the section considered is required to check according to each construction step for this process. The original rectangular beam weight could be reduced up to 50~39% due to the development of a U-beams from the optimum process.

  • We present an optimum design method for a rectangular reinforced concrete beam using Genetic Algorithms. The optimum design procedure in this paper employs 2 design cases: i) all of the design variables (b, d, As) of the rectangular reinforced concrete section are used pseudo-continuously, ii) one is pseudo-continuous for the concrete cross section (b, d) and the other is discrete, using an index for the steel area (As). The optimum design in this paper uses Chakrabarty's model. In this paper, the Genetic Algorithms use the method of Elitism and penalty parameters to improve the fitness in the reproduction process, which leads to very practical designs. The optimum design of the steel area in the examples uses ASTM standard reinforcing bars (#3~#11, #14, #18).

  • An optimization procedure has been prescribed for the minimum weight design of symmetrical parabolic arches subjected to arbitrary loading. The cross section is assumed to be a symmetrical box section with variable depth and flange areas. The webs are unstiffened and have constant thickness. The proposed sequential, iterative search technique determines the optimum geometrical configuration of the parabolic arch which includes the optimum depth profile and the optimum lengths and areas of the required flange plates corresponding to the prescribed number of curtailments. The study shows that the optimum value of rise to span ratio (h/L) of a parabolic arch is maximum at 0.41 for uniformly distributed loading over the entire span. For any other loading, the optimum value of h/L is less than 0.41.

  • In this paper, an optimization study on a helicopter rotor blade cross-section was made. Generalization was made to the baseline cross-section to simplify the analysis. To have better performance in aeroelastic response, with the aerodynamic center being the origin of the baseline, the distance between aerodynamic center and shear center, and the distance between mass center and shear center of the blade were minimized. For efficient searching of optimum solutions over the design space, grid search method, which is a method of graphical search was used. Two design variables, radius of balancing weight at leading edge, and offset of the spar from leading edge were selected for the study. Cubic spline interpolation method was used to accommodate searching of the optimum solution. 2-Leveled searching system was devised in accordance with the interpolation method. Optimum solution was found to show 6% decrease in both distance between aerodynamic center and shear center, and mass center and shear center to the baseline.

  • Prestressed concrete girder(PSC girder) bridges have been used widely at the railway as well as highway because they are great in the functional and economical efficiency. Also they have the advantage of convenience of design and construction. Generally, the PSC girder railway bridges with span length 25m are adopted in the country and it could be easily verified that the section of PSC girder using railway bridge is excessive design, which has much redundancy against design loads. Thus, in this paper the optimum design for PSC girder railway bridge with span length 30m is performed. And from the results of analysis it is suggested to denote the optimum section which satisfies the structural safety and economical efficiency all together.

  • This study presents the Optimum Evaluation of PS Concrete Deck and High Strength Two Plate Girder System. Recently, for the simplification of structure and the long length of bridge, a small number girder bridge which minimized a number of girder by two is much designed and constructed. For the structural analysis, a finite element formulation considering with even the matter of torsion in the three-dimensional problem is presented. And connectively, for the design of optimum section, an algorithm of optimum design is developed. The section of a small number girder bridge which constituted of two girders and PS Concrete Deck is optimized by using optimum program developed in this study. and two girders bridge refered in this study is proved a efficiency and a economy by being compared and checked to the general plate girder bridge with five girder and Reinforced Concrete Deck.

However it could be easily verified that the section of PSC girder is excessive design, which has much redundancy against design loads. Thus, in this paper the formulation of the optimum design for PSC girder railway bridge is suggested and dominant design variables and constraints are inquired as performing the optimum design. In order to effective optimum design, design variables are formulated as PSC girder sectional dimension and girder space. The objective is adopted as total cost of PSC girder railway bridge. Also, constraints are formulated according to Korean railway design specification and considering construction-ability such as PS anchorage and girder space. Using the proposed optimum design system, optimum PSC girder railway bridge design has been performed. And from the results of analysis it is suggested to denote the optimum section which satisfies the structural safety and economical efficiency all together.

  • 본 논문에서는 유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 복합재 로터 블레이드 단면 구조 최적설계방법에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 반복적인 최적설계 계산을 위해 자동격자생성 프로그램을 개발하였으며, VABS를 이용해 로터 블레이드 단면에 대한 응력해석을 수행하였다. 로터 블레이드 최소질량을 목적함수로 정의하였으며, 응력 파손지수와 단면 질량중심 그리고 단위 길이 당 블레이드 최소질량을 구속조건으로 설정하였다. 최종적으로 본 논문의 복합재 로터 블레이드 단면 구조 최적설계방법을 통해서 스킨 적층각 및 스킨 두께 그리고 토션박스 두께, 토션박스 위치, 토션박스 폭과 같은 블레이드 단면 설계변수들이 결정되었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 2차 비탄성해석과 단면점증법을 이용한 평면 강골조 구조물의 최적설계 방법을 제시하였다. 2차 비탄성해석은 구조시스템과 그에 속한 부재들의 기하학적 비선형과 재료적 비선형을 고려하기 때문에 2차 비탄성해석에 바탕을 둔 설계법에서는 해석 후 개별부재의 강도검토가 필요 없다. 본 논문에서 제안한 단면점증법을 최적화 기법으로 사용하였으며 목적함수로 구조물의 중량을 사용하였다. 제약조건식은 구조시스템의 하중-저항능력, 처짐 및 층간 수평변위 등을 고려하였으며 제안된 방법에 의한 설계결과를 다른 방법에 의한 것들과 비교하여 그 효율성을 증명하였다.
