This paper shows the optimum design of the fluid engine mount. The design has been modified by trial and error because there is many design parameters that can be varied in order to obtain resonant and notch frequencies, and notch depth. It seems to be a great application for optimal design for the mount. Many combinations of parameters are possible to give us the desired resonant and notch frequencies, but the question is which combination provides the lowest resonant peak and notch depth\ulcorner In this study, the enhanced artificial life algorithm is applied to get the desired notch frequency of a fluid mount and minimize transmissibility at the notch frequency. The present hybrid algorithm is the synthesis of an artificial life algorithm with the random tabu (R-tabu) search method. The hybrid algorithm has some advantages, which is not only faster than the conventional artificial life algorithm, but also gives a more accurate solution. In addition, this algorithm can find all global optimum solutions. The results show that the performance of a conventional engine mount can be improved significantly compared with the optimized mount.
In this paper, an integrated system for dynamic analysis and optimal design of engine mount systems is presented. The system can simulate static and dynamic behaviors of engine mount systems and optimize design parameters such as mount stiffness, mounting locations with desired design targets of frequency or displacement. A FF-engine with an automatic transmission is used to demonstrate the analysis and optimal design capabilities of the proposed design system.

This paper shows the optimal design methodology for the fluid engine mount by the artificial life algorithm. The design has been commonly modified by trial and error because there is many design parameters that can be varied in order to minimize transmissibility at the desired fundamental resonant and notch frequencies. The application of trial and error method to optimization of the fluid mount is a great work. Many combinations of parameters are possible to give us the desired resonant and notch frequencies, but the question is which combination Provides the lowest resonant peak and notch depth. In this study the enhanced artificial life algorithm is applied to get the desired fundamental resonant and notch frequencies of a fluid mount and to minimize transmissibility at these frequencies. The present hybrid algorithm is the synthesis of and artificial life algorithm with the random tabu (R-tabu) search method. The hybrid algorithm has some advantages, which is not only faster than the conventional artificial life algorithm, but also gives a more accurate solution. In addition, this algorithm can find all globa1 optimum solutions. The results show that the performance of the optimized mount compared with the original mount is improved significantly.

The procedure to design the engine mount is briefly discussed and the optimum shape design process of engine mounting rubber using a parametric approach is suggested. An optimization code is developed to determine the shape to meet the stiffness requirements of engine mounts, coupled with the commercial nonlinear finite element program ABAQUS. A bush type engine mount used in a current passenger car is chosen for an application model. The shape from the result of the parameter optimization is determined as a final model with some modifications. The shape and stiffness of each optimization stage are shown and the stiffness of the optimized model along the principal direction is compared with the design specification of the current model. Finally, an overview of the current status and future works for the engine mount design are discussed.

When designing fluid mounts, design parameters can be varied in order to obtain a desired notch frequency and notch depth. The notch frequency is a function of the mount parameters and is typically selected by the designer to occur at the vibration disturbance frequency. Since the process of choosing these parameters can involve some trial and error, it seems to be a great application for obtaining optimal performance of the mount. Many combinations of parameters are possible to give us the desired notch frequency, but the question is which combination provides the lowest depth. Therefore. an automatic optimal technique is needed to optimize the performance of the fluid mount. In this study. the enhanced genetic algorithm (EGA) is applied to minimizing transmissibility of a fluid mount at the desired notch frequency, and at the notch and resonant frequencies. The EGA is modified genetic algorithm to search global and local optimal solutions of multi-modal function optimization. Furthermore. to reduce the searching time as compare to conventional genetic algorithm and Increase the precision of the solutions, the modified simplex method is combined with the algorithm. The results show that the performance of the optimized mount by using the hybrid algorithm is better than that of the conventional fluid mount.

In this research, the finite element model is formulated taking into consideration of the effects of the fluid flow in a pipe. The characteristic of vibration is presented using mass, damping and stiffness matrix in the finite element equation of this pipe system. The displacement distribution of pipe system caused by fluid force is discussed. The method for optimizing the location of mount and the value of mount stiffness to reduce the vibration of pipe system is introduced.

Optimal mount position of a front pillar trim considering heat resistant characteristics can be determined by two methods. One is conventional approximate optimization method which uses the statistical design of experiments (DOE) and response surface method (RSM). Generally, approximated optimum results are obtained through the iterative process by a trial and error. The quality of results depends seriously on the factors and levels assigned by a designer. The other is a methodology derived from previous work by the authors, which is called sequential design of experiments (SDOE), to reduce a trial and error procedure and to find an appropriate condition for using artificial neural network (ANN) systematically. An appropriate condition is determined from the iterative process based on the analysis of means. With this new technique and ANN, it is possible to find an optimum design accurately and efficiently.
We investigated the optimum adhesive thickness for athermalizing an elastomeric lens mount in our space optics application. Theoretical results were compared with finite element solutions using two different models; discrete circular pads and discrete circular pads with columns filling the insertion holes reflecting the reality. A noticeable difference between their optimal thicknesses was observed, and physical interpretation revealed the uncertainty of prevailing athermal equations. A pilot sample was made to check our results and thermo-optical stress was assessed using an interferometer after isothermal load. This study presented insight into preliminary design guidance in elastomeric lens mounting.

As customer's demand for vehicle comfort is getting increased, vibration problem is very important issue in vehicle development. Engine is the main factor causing vehicle vibration, so that we should isolate detrimental transmitted excitation from engine. In order to solve this problem engine mounting system was properly optimized. Simulation was performed not only rigid body mode analysis but also flexible body mode analysis. We obtained the optimal locations and stiffness of engine mounts from simulation results, and had reasonable results from considering flexible body mode than only rigid body mode analysis.
