  • In computer vision system of modern industry precise measuring has lots of dfficulties because of measurement error due to distortion phenomenon. Among the difficulties, the distortion of edge is regraded as a dominent problem. which is caused by the vlurred image. The blurred image apperar when camera can not discriminate its precise focus. So. it is very important to decide focus of lens and to develop algorithm in order to correct distortion phenomenon. Thus. discrimination criteria obtained by image information of precise focus must be fixed in advance. The gray level histogram of image acquired from blurred edge tends to show a uniform distribution. Bimodal intensity histogram is related with condition of focus, and it is possible to find good condition of focus by using bimodal histogram of entropy.

  • An enzyme preparation from a newly isolated Candida that showed a high lipase activity was subjected to examination of its reaction rate under various conditions. The original and a diluted enzyme solutions showed the zero order curve starting at the point of 50 minutes in time. When PVA was used as an emulsifyer more activity was observed than the case of gum arabic. The optimal temperature and pH were $37{\sim}40^{\circ}C$ and 7.0, respectively. Oleic acid as a fatty acid conferred on the enzyme an inhibitory action while calcium ion a positive one. Sodium cholate yielded an increase in reaction rate at the first stage.

  • This paper investigates how the factor inputs of firms are affected by the expectation about land-price increase in the future. We develope a two-factor (land and labor) model, in which expectation about land-price increase plays a key role in determining the "optimal" input level of labor and land. Expecting capital gains from input of the land when land price increases, firms input land up to the point where the marginal productivity of land falls short of the marginal cost of purchasing the land, in order to maximize the "joint-profit". That is, firms have an incentive to use more land than they do when capital gains are not expected. We mean joint-profit by profit in the standard sense plus capital gains. Once the land is input "excessively", the productivity of labor increase and labor is also input more, since land and labor are assumed as complementary in production. This mechanism works in the opposite direction when land price decrease. This paper suggests that land price fluctuation is a major destabilizer of an economy.or destabilizer of an economy.

  • This study deals with the leaf tobacco assignment problem of a leaf tobacco warehouse with multiple input points and single output point. Also, the number of storage frequences is not necessary the same as that of retrieval for each leaf tobacco. A mathematical model is developed with the objective of minimizing the total travel distance associated with storage and retrieval operations. We also develop several heuristics based on the retrieval order frequency, retrieval/storage frequency ratio of leaf tobacco, and ABC curve. It is observed that the ABC curve based heuristic gives the best solution which is near optimal. Based on the test results from real world data, the ABC curve based heuristic is found to give a best performance. Comparing to current assignment method, the ABC curve based heuristic reduced total travel distance about 17.2%.

  • We have newly constructed an in silico model of fermentative metabolism for Lactococcus lactis in order to analyze the characteristics of metabolite flux for dynamic network. A rigorous mathematical model for metabolic flux has been developed and simulation researches have been performed by using GEPASI program. In this simulation task, we were able to predict the whole flux distribution trend for lactate metabolism and analyze the flux ratio on the pyruvate branch point by using metabolic flux analysis(MFA). And we have studied flux control coefficients of key reaction steps in the model by using metabolic control analysis(MCA). The role of pyruvate branch seems to be essential for the secretion of lactate and other organic byproducts. Then we have made an effort to elucidate its metabolic regulation characteristics and key reaction steps, and find an optimal condition for the production of lactate.

  • Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) were fabricated with high bias for plasma oxidation and the effects of annealing on the temperature dependence of tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) were investigated experimentally. As-grown, TMR increases, peaks around 160 K, and decreases with increasing temperature from 80 K to 300 K. When MTJs are annealed, $T_{max}$, the temperature at which maximum TMR is obtained, decreases as annealing temperature increases to the optimal point. In order to explain this abnormal temperature dependence of TMR, the difference of conductance between parallel and antiparallel alignments of magnetizations as a function of temperature is also analyzed. The shifts of $T_{max}$ due to annealing process are described phenomenologically with spin-dependent transfer rates of electrons tunnel through the barrier.

  • This paper attempts to develop a method which combines a subway system with a feeder bus system in order to increase the efficiency of the performance of the subway system. The 'feasible region' where a subway system is more desirable than a conventional bus in its travel time far the CBD-bound trip is determined and the service-specification models of the two systems in this region have been formulated and analyzed in an aggregate manner. The model developed in this study is applied to the Subway Line No. 1 in Seoul. The result obtained in the analysis indicates that the combined system can be guaranteed as a desirable mode in the point of travel time and cost within the feasible region. The concept of the model will lead to a proper assessment of the system's potentials for the choice of an optimal combination of the existing transport technologies.

  • In order to improve the water quality in semi-enclosed bays, Gug et al. (1997) have proposed a new method to activate the tidal exchange by creation and control of tidal residual current through the addition of artificial elements to creation and control of tidal residual current through the addition of artificial elements to create bottom roughness, so, ot is advisable to arrange as few of these as possible from a point of cost-benefit view. This paper attempts to develop the most suitable shape of artificial bottom roughness units with which to create and control an optimal tidal residual current. Several simple shapes were examined as fundamental cases. Subsequently 38 types of artificial bottom roughness units based on a few simple effective shapes, were examined experimentally. As a result of this research, two types to create artificial roughness.

  • A distribution system is composed of multiple levels from a producer to customers, and it's objective is to supply customers with goods timely with a prescribed level of quality at a minimum cost. For the installation and operation of multi-echelon distribution system, DRP(Distribution Resource Planning) is widely used. However, because of the characteristic difference of material flow dynamic of each distribution center, it is almost impossible to get the optimal distribution scheduling. In this paper, an improved DRP method to schedule multi-echelon distribution network is proposed so that the lot-size and order point is dynamically obtained to meet the change of demand rate and timing. The experiment is done with various demand pattern, forecast errors of demand and lead times of central distribution center. The proposed method is compared with traditional statistical approach.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate and develop the extended models for Economic Cash Amount(ECA), Cash Break Even-Point(BEP), and Cash Flow Statement(CFS) by referencing systematic literature review in the field. The study develops three extended models to determine the optimal cash amount: ECA model with interest opportunity cost, financing transaction cost and financing fail cost, ECA model with daily cash supply and interest opportunity cost, ECA model with financing fail cost and interest opportunity cost. Earnings Before Interests, Tax, Depreciation and Amortization(EBITDA) is obtained by subtracting noncash depreciation costs from Earning Before Interest and Tax(EBIT), which is efficient metric to evaluate operating cash flow. The research also develops two extended Cash BEP models, considered as interest and corporate tax, in order to indentify the break-even point as EBITDA equals zero. Furthermore, this paper proposes the modified version of CFS by introducing the reclassification of operating and financing accounts in the statement of financial position. In addition, the study also present the reclassification of five types of profit, such as gross profit, EBIT, ordinary profit, special profit, and net profit within the statement of comprehensive income. In order to provide a better understanding of the proposed cash flow models, numerical examples, such as two-sample t test and Analysis of Variance(ANOVA), are presented to demonstrate the statistical significance according to the industrial types for net working capital(i.e cash-to-cash), net profit, operating cash flow and free cash flow.
