3전극형 반사형 디스플레이에서 패키징 방법에 의한 광특성 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on Improvement of Optical Characteristics by Packaging Methods in Three Electrode-Type Reflective Display)

  • In 3 electrode reflective displays using a plastic substrate, unstable packaging induces particle clumping and optical degradation due to external air inflow and electronic ink evaporation. In this work, we fabricate 3 electrode electronic paper using glass wafer, ITO/plastic film, and ITO/glass/gas barrier film as an upper substrate after injecting electronic ink onto the lower substrate. Then, we studied its properties. After operating under stress conditions for 336 hours at $85^{\circ}C$ and 75% humidity, the reflectivity of driven e-paper panels with white color was 25.5% for the panels using glass wafer, 22.5% for plastic film including a gas barrier layer, and 16% for plastic film only. From these optical properties, we conclude that gas barrier film improves upper film isolation as a desirable packaging method.

상용 치과 법랑질 도재의 광학적 및 기계적 특성 (Optical and Mechanical Properties of Commercial Dental Enamel Porcelain)

  • In this study, optical and mechanical properties were investigated with 4 kinds of commercial dental enamels. As a result of EDS analysis $SiO_2,\;Na_{2}O,\;Al_{2}O_3\;and\;K_{2}O$ were the main components of commercial dental enamels. In case of H specimen, content of $SiO_2\;and\;K_2O$ were more than that of another specimens. Starting powder and fired specimens were glass ceramics which were consist of amorphous phase and leucite (crystalline) phase. Crystallization did not occurred during firing process, since the XRD peak intensity was similar between starting powder and fired specimens. As a result of differential thermal analysis, $T_g$ and crystalline temperature was varied with composition in the range of $548\sim576^{\circ}C$ and $735\sim780^{\circ}C$ respectively. 0.5mm thickness dental enamel specimens showed sufficient translucent properties. However, transmittance and reflectance were lower than 5% result from scattering due to the refractive index difference between glass and crystalline phase. 3 point bending strength was in the range of 73.9$\sim$101.8MPa which was similar or slightly higher than enamel of natural teeth and Vickers hardness was higher than enamel of natural teeth more than 100.

  • 근적외선에서 발광하는 새로운 증폭 매질인 Bi 첨가 알루미노실리케이트 유리의 용융 온도를 낮추면서도 증폭 특성이 향상될 수 있도록 금속 산화물을 첨가한 샘플을 제작하여 분광학적 특성을 분석하였다. $Li_{2}O$의 조성비가 증가하면 형광스펙트럼의 반폭치는 증가하지만 형광 강도가 저하되고, $GeO_{2}$의 영향으로는 반폭치와 형광 강도가 동시에 증가하였다. $GeO_{2}$를 첨가한 시료에서 광 증폭 특성을 측정한 결과, 이전의 벌크 샘플에서 얻었던 것보다 우수한 증폭 특성을 가지고 있음을 확인하였다.

  • Glass molding is an advantageous method to manufacture glass micro optical components. However, it is difficult to make Tungsten Carbide core for glass microlens array. We have developed novel method to fabricate Tungsten Carbide core for micro glass components using pressure forming. Silicon masters were fabricated by micro machining. Tungsten Carbide core was fabricated by pressure forming and sintering. And we made high quality surface of Tungsten Carbide core by using the magnetic-field-assisted polishing process.

Effect of Photo-darkening on the Response Time of PbSe Quantum-dots Doped Optical Fiber

  • We fabricated silica glass optical fiber containing PbSe quantum-dots (QD) of average size 3.2 nm. The response time of the PbSe-QD doped optical fiber was measured to be around 200 ps. However, after exposure to 1064 nm laser emission for 15 minutes, the response time dramatically reduced to around 2.5 ps, which may be due to photo-darkening effect.

  • We report the realization of the Yb/Tm co-doped silica glass optical fiber amplifier operating at 1470 nm upon 980 nm pumping. The energy transfer coefficient from Yb to Tm was estimated using the threshold condition of the optical amplifier.

  • In this study, PLZT thin films prepared by Sol-Gel method were deposited on ITO glass by spin coating and cryatallized at 750$^{\circ}C$ for 5 min by RTA in oreder to investigate their electrical and optical properties. Although thin film experieneced narrowing their hysteresis loops with increasing La content, E$\sub$c/ and P.sub r/ were higher for thin film than for bulk materials. $\varepsilon$$\sub$r/ and optical transmittance increased with increasing La content.

  • Lead zirconate($PbZrO_3$, PZ) 박막의 광학적 성질을 조사하였다. 광학적 성질을 조사하기 위한 PZ 박막은 sol-gel 법으로 ITO glass 위에 제작되었다. 열처리온도 $T=700^{\circ}C$로 후열처리함에 의해 증착된 시료의 pyrochlore 상은 perovskite 상으로 변환되었다. 박막의 표면은 매우 평탄하였고, 투과율은 480~2000nm의 파장에서 60~80%였으며, 굴절률은 480~1000nm의 파장에 대하여 2.1~1.9 정도였다.

  • Flat panel image display devices such as TFT LCD and PDP have required more large area and high quality control components. To control the qualities of the components, measurements of the flatness of a plate glass has been required. In order to measure the shape of the specular objects, Non-Contact Optical Sensor using Hologram laser unit was proposed. The sensor has a optical system that is composed of a Hologram laser and objective lens. The temperature of the sensor body is controlled by TEC(Thermoelectric Cooler) to maintain the same wavelength of the diode laser. In this research, we proposed the calibration scheme to make sensor real time measuring sensor. From the experimental results we see that the proposed sensor unit can measure the position of the glass surface in rial time.
