  • When establishing the submarine optical fiber table between international and domestic, marine survey in advance it grasps the submarine geological features which is accurate and a depth of water condition. And the route which is safe for selecting and submarine optical fiber cable laying it is a work which secures an ease one location. If also, the PLGR the submarine of optical fiber table root the sea contamination material (rope, wire and net) it removes in advance and if the submarine of the optical fiber cable ease it does to arrive safely. And it is a work the Plough and ROV laying work hour laying work efficiency improvement and laying equipment it will be able to protect. So, This paper presents the monitoring system of ship information management and operation for marine survey and PLGR work in submarine optical fiber table construction enterprise. In order to achieve these purpose, overall serial multi-port communication modulo of configuration, realtime processing for management and operation of receiving data, realtime graph and a printout are described.

  • We report on comparative results obtained from harmonically mode-locked laser operations of ring-type and figure-of-eight(F8) type erbium-doped fiber lasers by using a directional-coupler type electro-optic modulator as an active mode-locker. The mode-locked and transform-limited pulses of 10.6 ps width were obtained at harmonics of the fundamental cavity frequency with the F8 type laser while mode-locked laser pulses greater than 15 ps were achieved with the ring type laser.

  • The purpose of this study is to optical cable closure and fiber line monitoring system. The current optical cable closure cases have not had any systems that help the central control station recognize opening as well as closing the cases in real-time when opening B2B and B2C lines. to solve this problem, it is considered to create systems that go off alarms, real-time fault location immediately, set alarms for open and close monitoring optical cable closure, and inspect regularly whether optical cables are deficient when monitoring the optical line in real-time and cutting them, in this paper, the monitoring system whose the central control station finds an optical signal block immediately and goes off the alarms when line workers separate components like a connector or a tray from the optical cable closure through OTDR. this study can contribute to stabilize the network quality through the quick and effective operation of the cables.

A Study on the Variation of Optical Fiber Splicing Loss due to Environment (광섬유 접속부의 환경 변화에 따른 손실변화 연구)

  • The most sensitive part of the installed optical cable is the optical loss variation of the splicing point according to the environmental changes. This paper presents the details of the experimental results of the external environmental changes on optical loss, such as bending, temperature variation, temperature variation after water osmosis and variation. Through the bending test of optical fiber, rapid increase of optical loss was measured within the diameter of 30mm. The result of optical loss variation within the temperature range of $-30^{\circ}C{\sim}60^{\circ}C$ is less than 0.02dB. It was confirmed that the maximum optical loss increased up to 0.2dB in case of water osmosis within the temperature range of $-40^{\circ}C{\sim}80^{\circ}C$. There is small optical loss variation of 0.01dB under the 1mm vibration test. The experimental results of this paper can be used as the reference data for the design of the optical fiber cable splicing enclosure to protect the optical loss variation due to environmental changes.

  • A switch is a component with two or more ports that selectively transmits, redirects, or blocks optical power in a fiber transmission line. Our switch uses rotation mechanism using stepping motor, hence the common optical fiber can scan and allign to one of the arrayed N optical fibers to provide optical path by electronic precise control. The developed switch is consisted of switching module and its control module. The performance parameters of a switching loss and a repeatability are considered very important. We performed the study to reduce the switching loss and improve the repeatability of switch. The switch can be widely used as a test instrument of optical device and of optical cable in factory, also of optical cable monitoring systems.

  • The repeaterless system can be designed by applying EDFA technology in receiver, transmitter and optical cable in the case of connecting several hundred km from coast to coast, between continents or islands. Because of no repeater the repeaterless system do not need power system to feed laser diode in repeater for signal amplification and cooper tuber in submarine cable. So we can be configured more reliable and economical compared to repeater system. But lower loss optical fiber must be used to get enough signal amplitude without the amplification of repeater. This report consider long distance optical repeaterless system by reflecting the limitation factor of optical amplification.

  • Security solutions using fiber-optic cable have not yet secured a solid technical stability, through which the Acoustic detection security system also did not have a complete defense techniques such as false alarm and detecting fail due to a number of variables. In this paper, we investigate 4 characteristics for the channel of underwater acoustic communication. We also construct detection system as a construction method for security system using optical cable through the analysis of acoustic signal in underwater. We perform analysis of signal characteristics and noise of underwater optical cable, and then we confirms the possibility of real application.

  • Submarine optical fiber cable construction consists of marine survey, PLGR(Pre Lay Grapnel Run), shore-end-work, laying the submarine optical cable. This PLGR is work to ease the cable lay safely in seabed, improve the performance of Plough and ROV (Remotely-Operated Vehicle) laying work, and protect laying equipment. This paper presents the design and implementation of real-time monitoring system for PLGR work in submarine optical fiber cable construction enterprise. In this paper, we designe overall real-time monitoring system. For this purpose, the modules such as serial multiport communication module, real-time processing module, environment configuration module, real-time graph and a printout modules are designed and implemented. For the validity evaluation of this paper, serial multi port communication module, data parsing, realtime graph output are implemented and tested.
