Monotoring Secheme of Laser Welding Interior Defects Using Neural Network (신경회로망을 이용한 레이저 용접 내부결함 모니터링 방법)

  • This paper introduces the monitoring scheme of laser welding quality using neural network. The developed monitoring scheme detects light signal emitting from plasma formed above the weld pool with optic sensor and DSP-based signal processor, and analyzes to give a guidance about the weld quality. It can automatically detect defects of laser weld and further give an information about what kind of defects it is, specially partial penetration and porosity among the interior defects. Those could be detected only by naked eyes or X-ray after welding, which needs more processes and costs in mass production. The monitoring scheme extracts four feature vectors from signal processing results of optical measuring data. In order to classify pattern for extracted feature vectors and to decide defects, it uses single-layer neural network with perceptron learning. The monitoring result using only the first feature vector shows confidence rate in recognition of 90%($\pm$5) and decides whether normal status or defects status in real time.

  • In this paper, an eye-in-hand visual servoing strategy for keeping feature points within the FOV(field-of-view) is proposed. We first specify the FOV constraint which must be satisfied to keep the feature points within the FOV. It is expressed as the inequality relationship between (i) the LOS(jine-of-sight) angles of the center of the feature points from the optical axis of the camera and (ii) the distance between the object and the camera. We then design a nonlinear feedback controller which decouples linearly the translational and rotational control loops. Finally, we show that appropriate choice of the controller gains assures to satisfy the FOV constraint. The main advantage of our approach over the previous ones is that the trajectory of the camera is smooth and circular-like. Furthermore, ours can be applied to the large camera displacement problem.

  • In order to apply sub-resolution assist feature (SRAF) in extreme ultraviolet lithography, the maximum non-printing SRAF width and lithography process margin needs to be improved. Through simulation, we confirmed that the maximum SRAF width of 6% attenuated phase shift mask (PSM) is large compared to conventional binary intensity mask. The increase in SRAF width is due to dark region's reflectivity of PSM which consequently improves the process window. Furthermore, the critical dimension error caused by variation of SRAF width and center position is reduced by lower change in diffraction amplitude. Therefore, we speculate that the margin of SRAF application will be improved by using PSM.

In order to guarantee of the accurate micromanipulation, most of micromanipulation systems use vision sensor. Vision data from an optical microscope or high magnification lens have vast information, however, characteristics of micro image such as emphasized contour, texture, and noise are make it difficult to apply macro image processing algorithms to micro image.   • For the detection of transient sources in optical wide field surveys like KMTNet Supernova Project, difference imaging technique is commonly used. As this method produces a fair amount of false positives, it is also common to utilize machine learning algorithms to screen likely true positives. While deep learning methods such as a convolutional neural network has been successfully applied recently, its application can be limited if the size of the training sample is small. I will discuss a variation of more conventional method that adopts the wavelet transform for feature engineering and its performance.

Near-Infrared Color-Metallicity Relation for Globular Cluster System in Elliptical Galaxy NGC 4649

  • We present Subaru Near-Infrared (NIR) photometry for globular clusters (GCs) in the giant elliptical galaxy NGC 4649 (M60) belonging to the Virgo cluster. NIR data are obtained in Ks-band with the Subaru/MOIRCS, and matching HST/ACS optical data available in literature are used to explore the origin of GC color bimodality. A clear bimodal color distribution is observed in the optical color (g-z), in which the ratio between blue and red GCs is 4:6. By contrast, the more metallicity-sensitive optical-NIR colors (g-Ks, z-Ks) show a considerably weakened bimodality in their distributions. The color-color relation of the optical and NIR colors for the GC system shows a nonlinear feature, supporting that the optical color bimodality observed in NGC 4649 GC system is caused by nonlinear color-metallicity relations (CMRs).

  • An Ethernet passive optical network(EPON) is a point-to-multipoint optical network. EPONs leverage the low cost, high performance curve of Ethernet systems to provide reliable data, voice and video to end user at bandwidths far exceeding current access technologies. In this paper, we propose the economical and flexible structure of optical network unit(ONU) converting optical format traffic to the customer's desired format(Ethernet, VDSL, T1, IP multicast, etc.). A unique feature of EPONs is that in addition to terminating and converting the optical signal the ONU provide Layer 2-3 switching functionality, which allows internal routing of enterprise traffic at the ONU.

Optical Proximity Corrections for Digital Micromirror Device-based Maskless Lithography

  • We propose optical proximity corrections (OPCs) for digital micromirror device (DMD)-based maskless lithography. A pattern writing scheme is analyzed and a theoretical model for obtaining the dose distribution profile and resulting structure is derived. By using simulation based on this model we were able to reduce the edge placement error (EPE) between the design width and the critical dimension (CD) of a fabricated photoresist, which enables improvement of the CD. Moreover, by experiments carried out with the parameter derived from the writing scheme, we minimized the corner-rounding effect by controlling light transmission to the corners of a feature by modulating a DMD.

  • Recently, DVD/CD compatible driver is needed for DVD and CD is widely used as a new optical data restoring device. The optical systems of DVD and CD driver are different because they have different optical feature. If only one objective lens is used, the change of an aperture or a dual focal length of the lens is required. This method, however, increases the number of parts and results in loss of the power of laser light. Hence, we propose a dual lens actuator design that can read DVD and CD respectively. Albeit magnetic spring is important mechanism in the dual lens actuator design, there has not been the systematic approach to design the mechanism in the preceding researches. In this article. the guideway to design magnetic spring is presented by using the qualitative theoretical approach and the finite element analysis.
