Improvement of Contour Fringes by using Addition of Incremental Images

  • Electronic speckle contouring(ESC) based on electronic speckle pattern interferometry is the optical method for measuring object shape by using fringe-projection techniques. This method has the advantages of being non-contact, non-destructive and a whole-field measurement of the surface under investigation. Fringes in ESC represent the difference in depth along the view direction between the master wavefront and the test component. The contour maps of three-dimensional diffuse objects can be obtained by small shifts of optical fiber carrying the dual-object-beams and 4-frame phase shifting. In this study we proposed the contouring method by shifting the collimated illumination beams through optical fiber in order to obtain the contour fringe patterns. And also, we performed the addition of incremental images through the geometrical analysis to obtain the contour fringe interval when we performed the incremental addition of images and experiments based on this method. We obtained both quantitative increment without decorrelation effect and qualitative improvement by reducing the noise of contour fringes.

  • ESP(Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry) is an optical technique to measure deforamtion of engineering components and materials in industrial areas. ESPI, a non-contact and non-destructive measuring method, is capable of providing full-field results with high spatial resolution and high speed. One of important application aspects using electronic speckle pattern interferometry is to generate contours of a diffuse object in order to provide data for 3-D shape analysis and topography measurement. The electronic speckle contouring is suitable for providing measurement range from millimeters to several centimeters. In this study, we introduce the contouring method by modified dual-beam speckle pattern interferometer and a shift of the two illumination beams through optical fiber in order to obtain the contour fringe patterns. Before the experiments, we performed the geometric analysis for dual-beam-shifted ESPI contouring. And by this geometric analysis, we performed the electronic speckle contouring experiment. We used 4-frame phase shifting method with PZT for quantitative analysis of contour fringes. Finally, we showed good agreements between the geometric analysis and experimental results.

Optical Image Split-encryption Based on Object Plane for Completely Removing the Silhouette Problem

  • We propose a split-encryption scheme on converting original images to multiple ciphertexts. This conversion introduces one random phase-only function (POF) to influence phase distribution of the preliminary ciphertexts. In the encryption process, the original image is mathematically split into two POFs. Then, they are modulated on a spatial light modulator one after another. And subsequently two final ciphertexts are generated by utilizing two-step phase-shifting interferometry. In the decryption process, a high-quality reconstructed image with relative error $RE=7.6061{\times}10^{-31}$ can be achieved only when the summation of the two ciphertexts is Fresnel-transformed to the reconstructed plane. During the verification process, any silhouette information was invisible in the two reconstructed images from different single ciphertexts. Both of the two single REs are more than 0.6, which is better than in previous research. Moreover, this proposed scheme works well with gray images.

A New Full-Aperture Reflective Null Measuring Method for Conformal Dome

  • In this paper, a novel full-aperture reflective null measuring method is proposed to detect the transmission wavefront of a conformal dome surface. An aspheric compensator is designed and placed behind the dome to reflect the aspheric testing wave back to the same path. To ensure the feasibility of this method, tolerance analysis is conducted, and guidance to assembly is given accordingly. The accuracy of this method is verified to be λ/30 (λ =3.39 μm) by Monte Carlo algorithm. In addition, the influence of different error factors, including the thickness error and decenter error of the dome, on the testing wavefront is analyzed. Simulation and experiment indicate that this method is practical and simple, and can measure the conformal domes precisely and comprehensively.

2-step Quadrature Phase-shifting Digital Holographic Optical Encryption using Orthogonal Polarization and Error Analysis

  • In this paper, a new 2-step quadrature phase-shifting digital holographic optical encryption method using orthogonal polarization is proposed and tolerance errors for this method are analyzed. Unlike the conventional technique using a PZT mirror, the proposed optical setup comprises two input and output polarizers, and one ${\lambda}$/4-plate retarder. This method makes it easier to get a phase shift of ${\pi}$/2 without using a mechanically driven PZT device for phase-shifting and it simplifies the 2-step phase-shifting Mach-Zehnder interferometer setup for optical encryption. The decryption performance and tolerance error analysis for the proposed method are presented. Computer experiments show that the proposed method is an alternate candidate for 2-step quadrature phase-shifting digital holographic optical encryption applications.

QPSK Modulation Based Optical Image Cryptosystem Using Phase-shifting Digital Holography

  • We propose a new technique for the optical encryption of gray-level optical images digitized into 8-bits binary data by ASCII encoding followed by QPSK modulation. We made an encrypted digital hologram with a security key by using 2-step phase-shifting digital holography, and the encrypted digital hologram is recorded on a CCD camera with 256 gray-level quantized intensities. With these encrypted digital holograms, the phase values are reconstructed by the same security key and are decrypted into the original gray-level optical image by demodulation and decoding. Simulation results show that the proposed method can be used for cryptosystems and security systems.

  • 대부분의 가공기 혹은 측정기에 있어 이송테이블은 그 기능수행의 기본을 담당하고 있으며 이송테이블의 운동 정밀도와 고속화는 목표하는 정밀도와 생산성으로 직결된다. 종래에는 형상특성, 열변형 등의 계통 오차만을 오프라인(Off-line)으로 측정하고 소프트웨어적으로 보상하는 방법을 사용하였으나 초정밀 분야에서 요구되는 테이블의 운동정밀도는 기계적 강성한계를 넘는 정밀도이므로, 테이블 이송 시 발생하는 운동오차를 실시간으로 측정하고, 보상할 수 있는 온라인(On-line)개념의 능동형 보상이 필요하다. (중략)

  • Electronic speckle pattern interferometry has many applications in science and engineering. Among these, vibration measurement is the area where ESPI has many advantages over other techniques. We developed a stroboscopic ESPI system to measure the harmonic vibration of a piece of copper tape attached to a circular hole structure.   • 피부 표면 굴곡의 측정은 피부의 광노화의 정량화 , 피부관련 약품 및 기능성 화장품의 효과 평가, 피부 질환 진단 등에 반드시 필요하다. 기존에 사용되던 측정법으로는 스타일러스 (Stylus)법, 그림자(Shadowing)법, Laser Profilometry법 등이 있으나 이 방법들은 해상도 및 속도, 가격 등에 있어서 일반적으로 사용되기에는 부적합하다. 본 연구에서는 이 단점들을 극복하고 더 나은 굴곡 측정을 위해서 높은 횡·종축 해상도를 얻을 수 있는 저 결맞음 간섭계 (Low Coherence Interferometry, LCI)를 이용하여 피부 표면의 굴곡을 측정하였다.(중략)
