페룰의 연삭 가공 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study of Grinding Characteristic of Ferrule)

  • As recently optical communication industry is developed, request of optical communication part is increased. Ferrule is very important part which determines transmission efficiency and quality of information in the optical communication part. Most of ferrule processes are grinding which request high processing precision. Particularly, concentricity and cylindricity of inner and outer diameter is very important. The co-axle grinding process of ferrule is to make its concentricity all of uniform before centerless grinding. Surface integrity of ferrule is affected by kind of grinding wheels, grinding conditions, and characteristic of workpiece and equipment. In this study, surface integrity of workpiece according to change of grinding wheel speed, feed rate, regulating wheel speed and grinding force is investigate to improve the concentricity and roundness of ferrule from many experiments.

  • Today optical communication industry is developed; demand of optical communication part is increased. ZrO$_2$ ceramic ferrule is very significant part which determines transmission efficiency and quality of information in the optical communication part by connector of optical fibers. Being different from metal grinding, material removal through brittle fracture plays an important role in ZrO$_2$ ceramic grinding. Most of ZrO$_2$ ceramic ferrule processes are grinding which request high processing precision. Particularly, concentricity and cylindricity of inner and outer diameter are very important. The co-axle grinding process of ZrO$_2$ ceramic ferrule is to make its concentricity all of uniform before centerless grinding. Surface integrity of ZrO$_2$ ceramic ferrule is affected by grinding conditions, and equipment.   • The Ferrule for the Optical Communication Connector is the product to set the optical ares of an optical fiber very precisely. Therefore, it is required high expectations such as high dimensional precision and new including flaws. Up to new the optical instrument has been used for the defeat and shape inspection of the ferrule, but in the paper we examined the detectable defeat and expectation by using Resonant Ultrasound Spectroscopy(RUS). The RUS is the measurement which is to excite specimen and to inspect the difference at natural frequency pattern between acceptable specimen and specimen which has some defeats. We analyzed the difference of natural frequency pattern in the experiment using Spectrum Analyzer. And we compared the results in the experiment with those in the simulation from the explicit finite elements code, Nastran.

  • Weakness process can be called ferrule array and epoxy filling process at connector manufacturing process, and a lot of problems happen as think as general manufacturing process at early investment. Wished to improve this and working environment mend of worker on childhood(planning phase) and problem that is happened at done ferrule array and epoxy injection by emphasis target. By ferrule sorting and Improvement of epoxy filling process, bring authoritativeness elevation of product by fraction defective decrease of product by sized work along with productivity elevation. On the other hand, working jigs are various in characteristics of optical connector manufacturing line. There have been lots of restriction in practice because the applicability of this system is only for single type model though the network should be smooth between lines. Thus, it is not only needed the recognition of necessity in industrial line but also the development of automation system arraying ferrule and filling epoxy in the manufacturing process. It is found that the present system development enhances productivity fairly and prevents industrial disaster in the optical connector manufacturing system.

  • This paper presents the process of manufacturing technology of ceramics ferrule for optical fiber connector. Precision zirconia ceramic ferrules is widely used for high performance and low cost single mode optical fiber connectors. To polish the hole of the zirconia ceramic ferrule, the wire lapping instrument is developed and the machining experiment is conducted. Through the centerless grinding using diamond wheel the surface roughness of zirconia ceramics ferrule is below the 1 .mu. m Rmax.

  • Ferrule function have connect Optical Communication Cable. But Ferrule have important role that is decided transmission efficiency and information quality. Key-point of detailed drawing of ferrule is Anti-Reflection. In the study Broadband Anti-Reflection coating Film was design for ferrule of optical connector and deposited in low temperature by Ion-Assisted Deposition system. Optical thin film materials($Ta_2O_5$, $SiO_2$) were manufactured Index and Film thickness. $Ta_2O_5$ index is 2.123 ~ 2.125 and $SiO_2$ is 1.44 ~ 1.442. Reflection Loss of film deposited on Ferrule is 30.1[dB].

When co-axle grinding of ferrule supported by two pin, pin chucking alignment accuracy is very important. This paper deals with the analysis of the chucking alignment experiment with parallel error on the micro feeding equipment. Thus, if possible be finding highly good the chucking alignment of two pin.

This paper deals with the analysis of the process parameters such as grinding wheel speed, grinding feedrate and regulating wheel speed as influential factors, on the concentricity and surface finish developed based on Taguchi's experimental design methods. Taguchi s tools such as orthogonal array, signal-to-noise ratio, factor effect analysis, etc. have been used for this purpose optimal condition has been found out. Thus, if possible be finding highly efficient and quality grinding conditions.

  • Recently, in order to reduce the time required to replace an optical jumper cord, many researchers are using a field-installable connector and applying the ferrule polishing method, ferrule mechanical contact method, or ferrule fusion contact method. However, the process of arranging the length of the optical fiber, i.e., inserting the optical fiber into the ferrule by hand and checking its cross section, takes 60% of the time required for the entire process, which increases the overall cost. Therefore, in order to make this task more cost-effective, we will develop an automated inspection system with automatic cross-sectional arrangement of a field-installable connector. This system will be able to decrease the failure rate from 10% to 2% compared with the conventional method when cutting the optical fiber inserted into the ferrule. It will also improve the productivity by decreasing the test time by 28% compared with the conventional method. Our studies showed that it was possible to reduce the production costs and improve the quality of a field-installable connector, and we expect it to dominate the market.
