  • Based on the technical innovation of the recent communication system technologies, systems are linked by the worldwide network. We introduce some examples of the multimedia network systems. Especially, we introduce our recent attempt to realize the multimedia tele-surgery system using high speed optical fiber network. At first, we shows the technical problems of the multimedia tele-surgery. We applied this idea to the intravascular neurosurgery. System configuration for the prototype experiments and experimental results are shown.

  • This paper presents a new idea of structural design of the optical access network for IPOW(IP over WDM) services. More efficient network can be constructed, because the IP packets are transmitted directly to the WDM without going through an intermediate layer of networks. The wavelength Routing is based on a label switching technology. The ability to transmission of high volume traffics and QoS capability of the optical label switching directly to the end user of the IPOW optical internet networks is provided. As in AON(Active Optical Network) flexible bandwidth on demand subscribers is allocated. By the Simulation of the proposed optical access networks to measure the BER(Bits Error Ratio) at the end of the nodes the network characteristics are analyzed. These results are based on the design of efficient optical network.

  • 초고속 가입자망을 이용한 서비스는 인터넷을 중심으로 다양하게 전개되고 있고, 최근 HDTV와 같은 고품질 멀티미디어를 이용한 새로운 형태의 서비스들도 등장할 전망이다. 또한, ATM 망의 본격 구성, 인터넷망에서의 보안, 통신 품질 보장 기술의 진전으로 현재 고가의 회선 교환망을 통하여 이루어지고 있는 음성서비스와 기업의 전용선 서비스도 패킷기반의 인터넷망과 ATM망 등으로 전환될 예정이며, 동시에 그 사용대역폭도 크게 확대될 전망이다. 이러한 초고속 서비스의 본격 이용 및 일련의 새로운 서비스 방향은 한층 더 고속화되고 다양한 기능을 가진 초고속 가입자망의 출현을 예고하고 있다. 본고에서는 초고속 가입자망의 기술 현안에 대해서 살펴보고자 한다. 우선, 초고속 가입자망의 정의 및 관련 표준 현황에 대해서 기술하고, 가입자당 20Mb/s 서비스를 제공할 경우 발생할 trffic 양을 간단한 방법으로 분석한다. 그리고 현재의 가입자망 현황, 다양한 광가입자망 방식에 대한 기술 검토, TDM/TDMA PON 광가입자망, WDM/WDMA PON 광가입자망에 대한 기술 현황 등을 기술한다.

  • The effect of Nd3+ on the electrical and optical properties in PZT ceramics were investigated. The powders were prepared by the coprecipitation method using the salt solutions and Nd3+ was partially substituted for Pb2+ of Pb(Zr0.54 Ti0.46)O3. The coprecipitate were obtained under pH 11.8-12 and the single phase of PLZT powders were synthesized at about 500$^{\circ}C$. In the case of specimens with 4at.% of Nd which were sintered at 1250$^{\circ}C$ for 55 hours under 1atm, showed 50% of transmittance for 600nm(wave length).

  • In this paper, n study a distributed establishment scheme to setup lightpath in WDM/TDM Network considering user traffic characteristics. We propose a GBTA(guaranteed-bandwidth time-slot allocation) algorithm which assigns time-slots according to the requred traffic so that it can utilize given network resources efficiently in RWTA(routing and wavelength time-slot assignment) schemes. We consider traffic specification on the basis of ATM traffic classes. Also, in order to increase link utilization and minimize blocking probability, we extend distributed lightpath establishment protocol based on GBTA algorithm. In order to establish lightpath in distributed WDM/IDM network, we use backward resonation protocol that resewes resource with recent information. We use DOWTns(Distributed Optical WDM/TDM ns) that is extended from NS(Network Simulator), in order to verify proposed GBTA-based optical wavelength routed network.

  • System Packet Interface Level 4 Phase(SPI-4.2) is an interface for packet and cell transfer between a physical layer(PHY) device and a link layer device, for aggregate bandwidths of OC-192 ATM and Packet Over Sonet/SDH(POS), as well as 10Gbps Ethernet applications. In this paper, we performs the research for SPI-4.2. Also we analyze the performance of SPI-4.2 interface module after modeling using C programming language. This paper shows that SPI-4.2 interface module with 512-word FIFO depth is able to be adapted for the offered loads to 97% in random uniform traffic and 94% in bursty traffic with bursty length 32. SPI-4.2 interface module can experience an performance degradation due to heavy overhead when it massively receives small size packets less than 14-byte. SPI-4.2 interface module is suited for line cards in gigabit/terabit routers, and optical cross-connect switches, and SONET/SDH-based transmission systems.

  • The ATM-PON is regarded as an effective access network because the system transmits the various user's information through the passive optical splitter in a single platform. The ranging technology is to place all ONUs at the same distance virtually in order to form ATM-PON based on the Time Division Multiplexing (TDM). In This paper, We show the steps about ranging protocol based on ITU-T G.983.1 and ranging procedure modeling. Also, We implement the simulator that considers various environments to verify the time specifications of G.983.1. By using the simulator, We find out the wasted bandwidth which influences active ONUs during the ranging procedure.

Study on the sintering Behavior of Mechanecally Alloyed 75W-25Cu Powder Using a Dilatometry Technique

  • Solid and liquid sintering behaviors of mechanically alloyed 75W-25Cu powders have been studied by using a dilatometry technique. The sintering was performed under hydrogen atmosphere of 1 atm with a heating rate of 3 $^{\circ}C$/min. The mechanically alloyed 75W-25Cu powders were prepared by high energy ball milling process under argon atmosphere of 1 atm with alloying times of 0 to 400 h. To compare with the sintering behaviors of mechanically alloyed powders, pure Cu and W powders were also sintered under the above conditions, As the mechanical alloying time increased from 0 to 400 h, the shrinkage behavior of the alloyed powders was enhanced during the sintering, and staring temperature of liquid sintering decreased from 1083 to 1068 $^{\circ}C$. The saturation temperature, above which the shrinkage was completed, of liquid phase sintering decreased from 1248 to 1148 $^{\circ}C$ with increasing mechanical alloying time from 200 to 400 h. The residual stress of the mechanically alloyed powder was measured by X-raydiffractometer. The microstructure of sintered spcimen was observed by optical and scanning electron microscope. From these results, variations of solid and liquid sintering behaviors with mechanical alloying time were discussed in terms of the amount of residual stress and the distribution of W and Cu powders in the mechanically alloyed powder.

The Effect of Carbon on the Hot Corrosion of lron by Sulfur Containing Environment. (철의 고온 황화부식에 미치는 탄소의 영향)

  • The high temperature corrosion of Fe-C alloys were studied at I atm SO gas in the temperature range 500~80$0^{\circ}C$ by means of a thermogravimetric analysis. The Na2SO4 induced high tempwrature corrosion rate was also measured at atm O2 gas under above the temperature renge. The reaction products were identified with the aid of X-ray diffraction technique, and micostruction of the alloy/scale interface was observed with a optical microscope and SEM. The experimental results were disussed by the themodeynamic calcutions. Under above the experimental condition. the reaction rates decrbon with increasing carbon content. The transfer of Fe ion was limited by a residue of carbon precipitated at alloy scale interface due to the oxidation of Fe-C alloys at alloy surface. The effect of cold working on reaction rate was different between the Fe containing low carbon and Fe-C Alloy containing carbon above 0,73 wt%. In a cold worked iron containing low carbon content, the crystallization of metal surface leads to the poor adherence between the alloy and the cavity formed between the alloy and scale. The outward diffusion of ion through the scale is estimated to be hindered by the cavity formed between the scale, consequently decreasing reaction rate. In the case Fe-C containing carbon above 0.73 Wt% alloy, the reaction rate was little affected by cold working, because the effect of content on reaction rats is greater than the effect of cold working.
