  • Microgrids offer several reliability benefits, such as the improvement of load-point reliability and the opportunity for reliability-differentiated services. The primary goal of this work is to investigate the impacts of operating condition on the reliability index for microgrid system. It relies on a component failure rate model which quantifies the relationship between component failure rate and state variables. Some parameters involved are characterized by subjective uncertainty. Thus, fuzzy numbers are introduced to represent such parameters, and an optimization model based on Fuzzy Chance Constrained Programming (FCCP) is established for reliability index calculation. In addition, we present a hybrid algorithm which combines scenario enumeration and fuzzy simulation as a solution tool. The simulations in a microgrid test system show that reliability indices without considering operating condition can often prove to be optimistic. We also investigate two groups of situations, which include the different penetration levels of microsource and different confidence levels. The results support the necessity of considering operating condition for achieving accurate reliability evaluation.

  • When designing protective clothing, there are something to be considered such as physiological feature of human body, acting range not to restrict physical activity, and effectiveness of material. Because the primary objective of protective clothing is to protect human body from danger and it is designed through complex designing process not likely general clothing design. However, current evaluation techniques-such as the ISO, the ASTM and the CEN, and KS-provide only the standard to evaluate the primary feature of material (testing, performance requirements, material specification, selection and application, test and care, and so on). There are no standard to evaluate influence for the human body while protective clothing put on. Especially, in Korea, there is KS to evaluate protective clothing, but it is partially translated version from ISO because of lack of core technology about this field. However, developed countries recognize it is new competitive means in the time of Global Standards and they are competing to make their own standard to global standard for the protective clothing. Therefore, it can be great opportunity for Korean clothing and textile industry to revitalize if focusing on research and development for protective clothing design based on physical activity of human body, fit evaluation technique and sizing which is currently no global standard for it and developing our standard to global standard.

  • In capital budgeting practices, investment project evaluations based on the net present value (NPV) and the internal rate of return (IRR) represent the traditional evaluation techniques. Compared with the traditional methods, the modified internal rate of return (MIRR) gives the opportunity to evaluate an investment in certain projet, while taking the changes in cash flows over time and issuing shares such as dividing shares, bonuses, and dividend for each end of the investment year into account. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate an investment in the Malaysian construction sector utilizing financial data for 39 public listed companies operating in the Malaysian construction sector over the period from Jan 1, 2007, to December 30, 2018, based on the MIRR method. Stochastic was studied in this study to estimate the estimated probability by applying the Markov chain model to the MIRR method where the transition matrix has two possible movements of either Good (G) or Bad (B). it is found that the long-run probability of getting a good investment is higher than the probability of getting a bad investment in the long-run, where were the probabilities of good and bad are 0.5119, 0.4881, respectively. Hence, investment in the Malaysian construction sector is recommended.

  • This study analyzed the performance of the national fishing port development project, which lacked ex-post impact evaluation despite a lot of investment in terms of fishery income opportunities. Using micro data from the Census of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, the sales amount of fishery products and the proportion of fishery-related businesses were used as performance indicators. The fishery households in the fishing port area (treatment group) and those not in the area (control group) were classified through data pre-processing, and factors unrelated to the fishing ports were controlled using the propensity score matching difference-in-difference method. The analysis target is six fishing ports with large investment in from 2010 to 2014. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the sales of fishery products increased significantly in four of the six fishing ports, and the proportion of fishery-related businesses increased in two fishing ports. The analysis method of this study can be fully utilized in the evaluation of the Fishing Community New Deal 300 Project, which is in need of performance analysis.

  • Amidst a competitive environment, success and innovation of a company hinge on establishment of competitive strategies through CEO's capabilities for discovering new businesses. In other words, several alternatives that are being considered as new businesses and the ensuing selection that a top management makes lead to a company's success and innovation. Examples of this are numerous among global corporations as well as Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This research has analyzed the role of a CEO to be a condition for success in the growth and innovation of a company. Starting from the topic of entrepreneurship, the research on the role of a CEO has been actively conducted in context with the latest innovations. A prime example involves research related to the innovativeness of a CEO. In this regard, this research was an empirical analysis on the impact that a CEO's ability to discover new business opportunities and competitive strategies has on the performance of a firm. This analysis was conducted based on nationwide data of 286 large conglomerates and smaller-sized companies alike. Based on the analysis, "experimenting" and "association", among abilities of discovery, have been found to strengthen competitive strategies. Also in the context of abilities needed for discovery, differentiation strategy has a greater effect on a firm's performance than the cost leadership strategy. Furthermore, the mediating effect of competitive strategies was prominently displayed in experimenting and corporate performance.

  • A case study on engineering clinic operation based on industry needs is introduced. Engineering clinic is a course that students and professor solve bottleneck techniques provided from an industry. The industry presents the bottleneck techniques to the professor and the professor plans a course that the students learn how to solve them, and the students train field adaptability by solving them. From the course evaluation of the engineering clinic, the students give high scores to the awareness of the course objectives, the performance period, the smooth communication, the application and understanding of major, the problem solving skill, the cooperation ability, the opportunity of carrier choice, and the course recommendation. Two semesters give higher satisfaction to the students than one semester because two semesters are long enough to solve the bottleneck techniques provided from the industry. It gives good opportunity that the students get a job through completing the course.

  • Objectives : The recognition rate for issues and improving resolution for the recuperation income expense claim policy was examined. Methods : 1,135 copies of survey have been sent to the group of people who have claimed the dental recuperation income expense to dental recuperation institutions in Daejeon, Chungcheong Do that are registered to the health insurance evaluation and estimation office as of the May 2010 and 207 surveys that were regarded to be sincere for answering were analyzed. Results : Majority of respondence were belonged to the dentist institutions with more than 5 years of claim experiences as well as 10~50% of claim rate. The recognition of medical fee evaluation guideline was normal level, and negative recognition was higher to the health center with daily charge policy compare to the dental hospital and university affiliated dental center with treatment charge policy, Highest opinion for inappropriateness of dentist with significance was found (p<0.05). The openness of evaluation cases are regarded to be discharged through the transparent evaluation and most of the opinions for insurance claim evaluation adjustment are within the both 'Do not understand the evaluation guideline and program error of disease category, code and program' with significance(p<0.05). The reaction after the evaluation adjustment was high in reflection on the claim process after examining the reason for the evaluation adjustment through the evaluation and estimation office and university affiliated dental institution and dental center was regarded to be most active and deputy reclaimment was seemed to be most actively discharge the objection registration task (p<0.05). The claim error improving resolution recognition was highly prioritized to the accurate charting for the disease title and treatment description, improving the setting of claim program, and most highly recognized by the university affiliated dental hospital/dental center and comparably low by health center(p<0.05). and although the most of the responds of treatment description and browsing the medical fee was positive, 50% of dentists disagreed the idea so that this was creating a significant discrepancy with other groups(p<0.05). Conclusions : From this research, the recognition of medical fee evaluation guideline for dental (university) hospital and dentists were negative and high adjustment experience was examined as lacking of evaluation guideline understanding and error of disease name, code and programs and deputy reclaimment, university affiliated dental hospital/dental center were most actively handle the objection registration tasks and dentists have objection on the treatment description and browsing the treatment fee so that if these indexes can be referred to implement into the recuperation income claim process, this can be regarded to be a opportunity to create mutual credibility between recuperation institution, treatment pensioner and the evaluation institutions.

  • Green spaces are recognised for the benefits. They bring to the quality of people's lives. However, since the 1980s there has been a general increase in poorly-managed green spaces. In an attempt to address this issue, green space policy has changed its focus on green space management through the gradual introduction of green space evaluation tools, such as the Green Flag Award (GFA). The GFA, as an established green space evaluation tool in the UK, reflects a shift in policy drivers of green spaces management. However, there is a lack of research investigating the contextualisation between a wide range of policy contexts and such green space evaluation tools (the GFA in this study). The aims of this study are therefore to explore the development of green space evaluation since the late 1990s, with respect to the growth of the GFA and its impact on other evaluation tools across the UK and several countries. To address the aims, this study employs in-depth literature reviews on UK green space policy mainly conducted by government. In addition, case studies are presented, focusing on the GFA and independent green space evaluation tools intrinsically derived from the GFA in the UK's cities and Nordic countries. Results show that based on the awareness of the severity of declining standards of green spaces, newly emerging policy arrangements have been adopted to address negative issues, which affect the standard of green spaces such as the transfer of responsibility for green space management, the implementation of Compulsory Competitive Tendering and ongoing budget cuts. Significantly, the GFA's indicators reflect the emerging changes of economic and social contexts associated with green spaces management where, in particular, the prospect of continuous budget cuts, which encourages communities to become involved in green space management. The GFA has widely contributed to leading such UK's cities and other countries to be able to create their independent green space evaluation tools in different approaches based on stakeholders' (mainly community) involvement in the decision-making process of green space evaluation. In conclusion, this study implies that successful green space evaluation tools do embody the value of green spaces and address drivers of emerging green space management with correspondence to the context of policy arrangements. Importantly, stakeholders have an opportunity to be involved in a partnership in the decision-making process through some green space evaluation tools. It is hoped that for well-managed green spaces this study will contribute valuable knowledge to our existing understanding of green space management in an era of austerity.
