A Case Study on the Paradigm Shift to Digital Logistics Platform : The Case of Maersk

  • Purpose : Due to the uncertainty of the global trade environment and the trade downturn, the shipping industry continues to face challenges. This study aims to investigate in-depth analysis of crisis overcoming strategies through case study of a company that is leader in the shipping and logistics industry. Research Desigh and Methodology : In order to conduct an in-depth analysis, a single case analysis was selected as a qualitative study. For this purpose, various secondary sources were used, and indirect interview data were also used. In this study, Maersk was selected because it has grown from a traditional shipping logistics company to a digital platform company. Results: Maersk has transformed itself into a comprehensive, digital logistics platform with several key strategies to respond to the long-term slump in the shipping industry. First, it leveraged Maersk's diversification and portfolio optimization strategy. Second, Maersk is transforming its logistics and transport processes through digitalization and technological innovation. Conclusion: Maersk, which is responding to the long-term recession facing the shipping industry, looked at how it has leveraged its strengths and explored new opportunities through a number of strategies and changes. This study provides insight into a digital logistics platform that will benefit the other companies as well.

Solution-based Synthesis of Two-dimensional Materials for Electrochemical Capacitors (전기화학 커패시터 응용을 위한 용액기반의 2차원 소재 제조)

  • Two-dimensional (2D) materials, especially graphene and $MoS_2$ sheets, have gained much attention and shown great promise for the application in supercapacitors. To widely use the 2D materials for supercapacitors, highly efficient, low cost, and environmentally friendly synthetic methods for the preparation of 2D materials should be developed. Here, we will review recently developed solution-based processes for preparing 2D materials for supercapacitors. Chemical exfoliation-reduction, chemical intercalation, and liquid phase exfoliation methods will be introduced. Moreover, the electrochemical characteristics of graphene and $MoS_2$-based electrodes for supercapacitors are summarized. In addition to solution-based processes, other challenges and opportunities are discussed in terms of controlling nanosheet compositions, sizes, and thicknesses.

  • Graphene has been received a lot of attention as essential parts of future electronic and energy devices. Because of its extraordinary properties contributed from the atomic layer, the interface and surface engineering of graphene are promising approaches for realizing 2D materials-based high-performance devices. Herein, we summarize and introduce recent research trends of the synthesis of graphene through interface engineering for high-performance electronic and energy device applications, and then discuss the challenges and opportunities for achieving high-performance devices in next-generation electronics.

  • The intricate role of innate type-2 cytokines in immune responses is increasingly acknowledged for its dual nature, encompassing both protective and pathogenic dimensions. Ranging from defense against parasitic infections to contributing to inflammatory diseases like asthma, fibrosis, and obesity, these cytokines intricately engage with various innate immune cells. This review meticulously explores the cellular origins of innate type-2 cytokines and their intricate interactions, shedding light on factors that amplify the innate type-2 response, including TSLP, IL-25, and IL-33. Recent advancements in therapeutic strategies, specifically the utilization of biologics targeting pivotal cytokines (IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13), are discussed, offering insights into both challenges and opportunities. Acknowledging the pivotal role of innate type-2 cytokines in orchestrating immune responses positions them as promising therapeutic targets. The evolving landscape of research and development in this field not only propels immunological knowledge forward but also holds the promise of more effective treatments in the future.

Rehabilitative goals for patients undergoing lung retransplantation

  • Lung retransplantation (LRT) involves a second or subsequent lung transplant (LT) in a patient whose first transplanted graft has failed. LRT is the only treatment option for irreversible lung allograft failure caused by acute graft failure, chronic lung allograft dysfunction, or postoperative complications of bronchial anastomosis. Prehabilitation (rehabilitation before LT), while patients are on the waiting list, is recognized as an essential component of the therapeutic regimen and should be offered throughout the waiting period from the moment of listing until transplantation. LRT is particularly fraught with challenges, and prehabilitation to reduce frailty is one of the few opportunities to address modifiable risk factors (such as functional and motor impairments) in a patient population in which there is clearly room to improve outcomes. Although rehabilitative outcomes and quality of life in patients receiving or awaiting LT have gained increased interest, there is a paucity of data on rehabilitation in patients undergoing LRT. Frailty is one of the few modifiable risk factors of retransplantation that is potentially preventable. As such, it is imperative that professionals involved in the field of retransplantation conduct research specifically exploring rehabilitative techniques and outcomes of value for patients receiving LRT, because this area remains unexplored.

  • Software vulnerabilities represent security weaknesses in software systems that attackers exploit for malicious purposes, resulting in potential system compromise and data breaches. Despite the increasing prevalence of these vulnerabilities, manual repair efforts by security analysts remain time-consuming. The emergence of deep learning technologies has provided promising opportunities for automating software vulnerability repairs, but existing AIbased approaches still face challenges in effectively handling complex vulnerabilities. This paper explores the potential of large language models (LLMs) in addressing these limitations, examining their performance in code vulnerability repair tasks. It introduces the latest research on utilizing LLMs to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of fixing security bugs.

  • With the continuous development of information technology, digital education has become the mainstream of international education reform. In the digital media era, digital qualifications have become an essential ability for education and teaching, and teachers must have a certain degree of digital qualifications to better cope with the opportunities and challenges facing digital education. This paper mainly examined the current status of digital literacy among university teachers through a survey targeting teachers at Chinese universities. Specifically dilemmas and improvement measures were organized to derive new ideas and methods for improving the digital qualifications of university teachers, thereby providing useful reference material for realizing digital education.

Digital Transformations to Improve the Work and Distribution of the State Scholarships Programs

  • Purpose - Based on the analysis of Kazakhstan's experience of digital transformation, this study suggests a concept for digital solution to optimize organizational process, create trust networking between the center of state scholarships programs and recipients. In addition, the authors contribute to the current discussions of an effective digital transformation of state services. Research design, data, and methodology - Policy analysis is based on the combination of both primary and secondary materials collected during a Policy Research Project conducted in Kazakhstan in 2017. It involved semi-structured interviews with the state scholarship' recipients, ICT experts and findings from academic articles. Results - Findings are represented via Policy Development Matrix - a table with three options (status quo, partial change, total change) to deal with policy challenges. Authors suggest a concept for digital solution following the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) principles for optimizing core business processes, communication and networking strategies of the state scholarships program. Conclusions - At the time when digitalization becomes trending for states, the transformation of the state education policy is inevitable. The rapid development of digital technologies creates new opportunities for a single integration platform with key principles of Smart Remote Management in the state scholarships programs.

Outcomes and Implications of UNESCO ESD World Conference ("유네스코 지속가능발전교육 세계회의"의 성과와 시사점)

  • The UNESCO World Conference on "Education for Sustainable Development - Moving into the Second Half of the United Nations Decade" was held in Bonn, Germany, from 31 March to 2 April 2009, as the DESD approaches it's mid-point. It brought 900 participants including 47 ministers and deputy-ministers of education from 147 countries. The objectives of the conference were to: (1) highlight the essential contribution of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) to all of education and to achieving quality education ("Why is ESD relevant?"); (2) promote international exchange on ESD ("What can we learn from each other?"); (3) carry out a stock-taking of DESD implementation ("What have we achieved so far, what are the lessons learnt?"); (4) develop strategies for the way ahead ("Where do we want to go from here ?"). The conference provided opportunities for all participants to recognize the importance of ESD as the way to meet challenges of the present unsustainable world and discuss outcomes of first-half of DESD and action plans for second-half of DESD. In particular, one plenary session was focused on the DESD Monitoring and Evaluation process, with a presentation of the key findings of the draft global report on the context and structures of ESD, as well as regional perspectives. As a result of the conference, participants adopted the Bonn Declaration which would serve as the backbone for the further development of the post-Bonn process within the framework of the DESD.

Visual Cell OOK Modulation : A Case Study of MIMO CamCom (시각 셀 OOK 변조 : MIMO CamCom 연구 사례)

  • Multiplexing information over parallel data channels based on RF MIMO concept is possible to achieve considerable data rates over large transmission ranges with just a single transmitting element. Visual multiplexing MIMO techniques will send independent streams of bits using the multiple elements of the light transmitter array and recording over a group of camera pixels can further enhance the data rates. The proposed system is a combination of the reliance on computer vision algorithms for tracking and OOK cell frame modulation. LED array are controlled to transmit message in the form of digital information using ON-OFF signaling with ON-OFF pulses (ON = bit 1, OFF = bit 0). A camera captures image frames of the array which are then individually processed and sequentially decoded to retrieve data. To demodulated data transmission, a motion tracking algorithm is implemented in OpenCV (Open source Computer Vision library) to classify the transmission pattern. One of the most advantages of proposed architecture is Computer Vision (CV) based image analysis techniques which can be used to spatially separate signals and remove interferences from ambient light. It will be the future challenges and opportunities for mobile communication networking research.
