Objective : The purpose of this report is to know the effect of Jibaekjihwang-tang(知栢地黃湯) on progressive pigmented purpuric dermatosis. Methods : We experienced one case of progressive pigmented purpuric dermatosis treated with Jibaekjihwang-tang(知栢地黃湯). We used visual analogue scale(VAS). Results : After the treatment the grade of VAS was decreased and purpuras, pruritus and dryness of skin were disappeared. Conslusion : Jibaekjihwang-tang(知栢地黃湯) can be used on the treatment of progressive pigmented purpuric dermatosis.

Objective : The purpose of this report is to know the effect of Gamisunbangwhalmyung-Eum(加味仙方活命飮) on pain and burning sensation that last for months after Debridement caused by Cellulitis. Methods : We experienced one case of patient underwent Debridement caused by Cellulitis treated with Gamisunbangwhalmyung-Eum. To evaluate the effectiveness of this treatment, we used the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS). Results : After the treatment, the grade of VAS was decreased and clinical symptoms were improved. Conclusion : Gamisunbangwhalmyung-Eum can be used on the treatment of patient underwent Debridement caused by Cellulitis.

Objective : This study reports the effect of korean medicine on ptosis patient 1 case diagnosed as idiopathic oculomoter nerve palsy. Methods : We experienced one case of ptosis diagnosed as idiopathic oculomoter nerve palsy treated with herbal medicine and acupuncture. Ptosis and associated symptoms had been estimated with difference of both eye's interpalpebral fissure and VAS(Visual Analogue Scale). Result : After the treatment, symptoms were decreased and almost disappeared. In this case, difference of both eye's interpalpebral fissure decreased from 6mm to 1mm in a month. Conclusion : This study suggests that korean medicine is effective on ptosis diagnosed as idiopathic oculomoter nerve palsy.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Traditional Korean medical treatments on syringoma. Methods : We used herbal medication, acupuncture and cupping therapy for treatment. To evaluate the results of the treatment, we observed the patient's photoscopic findings. Results : The patient's objective symptoms showed noticeable improvement after treatment for 24days. We also found to be in good condition 21days after the treatment. Conclusions : Korean medical treatment was effective to improve the syringoma symptoms. It is necessary to have more cases and long term observation.

Objective : This study was carried out to analyze the trends of Acne related articles that have been published in the Journal of Korean Medicine Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology & Dermatology(JKOOD). Method : We studied 29 research papers relevant to Acne that published in JKOOD from 1998 to 2013. All the paper were classified into three categories; original article, review article and case report. We sub-classified the original articles into three categories; descriptive study, analytic study and experimental study. We analyzed the case report according to various types of treatment. Results : 1. The number of searched journals is 29 papers; 17 original ordicles, 4 review articles, 8 case reports. 2. Classification of 17 original articles into three categories; 10 experimental studies, 7 descriptive studies, 0 analytic study. 3. Method of Evaluation; Korean Acne Grading System(KAGS) is used frequently in descriptive studies and experimental studies. 4. Treatment in Case reports; 7 Case reports used External medical treatments. Conclusions : It is needed to develop the methods of grading system in acne related to Oriental medicine to obtain objectivity of studies. The number of analytic study, clinical trial and experimental study is need to increase.

Objectives : The purpose of this report is to know the effect of Korean medicine treatments on Allergic Contact Dermatitis. Methods : We treated a 63-years-old man patient with Allergic Contact Dermatitis on the left medial calf with Korean medicine. After Korean medical treatment for 26 days, we identified a reduction in size of erythema and loss of color fading, exudates and edema. We recorded pictures of changes on symptoms. Results & Conclusions : The symptoms of Allergic Contact Dermatitis were improved. Erythema, edema, exudate were lost. Thus Korean medicine treatments are effective on allergic contact dermatitis.

Objective : To observe effects of TKM (Traditional Korean Medicine) treatment for psoriasis vulgaris. Methods : We did retrospective chart review for 32 psoriasis vulgaris patients who had been treated by TKM. TKM treatment included acupuncture, herb med, external herbal solution and moxibustion. Result : PASI (Psoriasis Area and Severity Index) 75 responding rate at treatment week 16 was 71.9%. Mild symptom patients' improvement rate and moderate to severe symptom patients' improvement rate was similar. Mean PASI score was increased until treatment week 4 to 8, and after that period, mean PASI score was decreased. Conclusion : This study suggest that TKM may be an effective treatment for psoriasis vulgaris.

Objectives : 본 연구를 통해 정신과적, 소화기성으로 유발된 히스테리성 구를 반하백출천마탕과 자음건비탕으로 치료한 1례를 보고하려 한다. Methods : 오심, 불면, 이명, 소화불량, 초조, 두통, 매핵기를 주소로 하는 23세 여성 환자를 대상으로 약 4개월 동안 침구, 반하백출천마탕과 자음건비탕으로 치료하였다. Results & Conclusions : 4개월 동안의 치료 후, 히스테리성 구와 다른 증상들이 소실되었다. 이 논문에서는, 소화기계 장애와 정신 질환 치료를 위해 오랫동안 사용되어온 반하백출천마탕과 자음건비탕을 히스테리성 구 치료에 이용하였다. 결론적으로, 본 연구는 히스테리성 구와 소화기계 장애가 밀접한 관련이 있음과 히스테리성 구에 대한 한의학적 치료의 중요성을 제시하였다.

Objective : The aim of this study is to classify the patterns of Ryodoraku using cluster analysis on tinnitus patients. Method : 261 patients with tinnitus and 159 patients with other disease were analyzed. We used cluster analysis with SPSS 20.0 to classify the pattern of Ryodoraku. We searched the cluster characteristics and tried to interpret the specific patterns from previous studies. Result : We divided tinnitus patients to four groups and control patients to five groups. There were some shared patterns between tinnitus group and control group. One group on tinnitus patients showed lower age than other groups. Time, sex, total average did not show any differences among groups. Conclusion : Cluster analysis on tinnitus patients showed the possibility of presenting the specific Ryodoraku patterns. But because of weak Ryodoraku studies, clinical usefulness is unknown. Further study is needed.

Objectives : We performed a pilot study to investigate inter- and intra-rater reliability of pattern identification using nasal endoscopy for allergic rhinitis(AR). Methods : Eight experts of ophthalmology, otolaryngology and dermatology of Korean medicine evaluated 20 nasal endoscopy photograph cases of AR patients with pattern identification index using nasal endoscopy for AR including the nasal membrane color(pale / hyperemia), nasal membrane humidity(dryness / dampness), rhinorrhea(watery / yellow), and membrane edema (atrophic / edematous) on nasal endoscopy. Results : Intra-rater agreement(%) and Kappa coefficient was generally from 'moderate' to 'good'(% agreement: 73.13-90% / Kappa coefficient: 0.547-0.748). Inter-rater agreement(%) and Kappa coefficient was also from 'moderate' to 'good' (% agreement: 65-85% / Kappa: 0.475-0.778) except 'humidity(dryness / dampness)' item (% agreement: 55.98% / Kappa: 0.340). In findings of subgroup analysis according to affiliation of raters, Inter-rater agreement(%) and Kappa coefficient of raters in same affiliation was higher than inter-rater agreement(%) and Kappa coefficient of raters in different affiliation except 'dryness / dampness' item. Conclusions : It is necessary to improve objectivity and reproducibility of pattern identification using nasal endoscopy for allergic rhinitis(AR) through the development of detail-oriented criteria and enhanced training of clinicians with development of standard operating procedures(SOPs).
