  • We propose dynamic file allocation method in distributed database management system with changing access patterns. There are a lot of studies on file allocation problem in D-DBMS, and those studies deal with off-line analysis and optimization. Those works are well for systems with static database access patterns, but are inadequate for systems that have changing access patterns. In these systems, dynamic file allocation along with access pattern is more proper. In advance, Brunstrom et al. studied on this area, but they dealt a extremely simplified model. So, we make more practical models to simulate real system. In these models, many factors that were disregard in the advance study are considered. These models are composed with the non-replication system and the replication system. In addition to, we deal with CPU workload balancing in such system in order to improve performance of systems. Our methodology is very simple and realistic, therefore we think that it will give a lot of improvement in D-DBMS with changing access pattern.

  • A traditional approach to the prediction of economic and financial variables takes the form of statistical models to summarize past observations and to project them into the envisioned future. Over the past decade, an increasing number of organizations has turned to the use of neural networks. To date, however, many spheres of interest still lack a systematic evaluation of the statistical and neural approaches. One of these lies in the prediction of corporate bond yields for Korea. This paper reports on a comparative evaluation of ARIMA models and neural networks in the context of interest rate prediction. An additional experiment relates to an integration of the two methods. More specifically, the statistical model serves as a filter by providing estimtes which are then used as input into the neural network models.

  • This paper describes an intelligent user interface to define simulation models from the process and resource models. It also explains an automatic program generator of discrete event simulation model for shop floor control in a flexible manufacturing system. Especially, the paper is focused on the design and development of methodology to automate simulation modeling from the system description. Describing a shop floor control system in simulation is not an easy task since it must resolve various decision problems such as deadlock resolution, part dispatching, resource conflict resolution, etc. The program generator should be capable of constructing a complete discrete simulation models for a multi-product and multi-stage flow shop containing the above mentioned problems.

  • We propose a hardware accelerated voxelization method for various 3D object model such as surface models, solid models, and volumetric CSG models. The algorithm utilizes the stencil buffer that is one of modern Open히 graphics hardware features. The stencil buffer is originally used to restrict drawing to certain portions of the screen. The volumetric representations of given 3D objects are constructed slice-by-slice. For each slice, the algorithm restricts the drawing areas constructed inner region of 3D objects using the stencil buffer, and generates slices of the volumetric representation for target objects. As a result, we can provide volume graphics support for various engineering applications such as multi-axis machining simulation, collision detection and finite element analysis.

  • A common task in assembly modeling is the determination of the position and orientation of a set of components by solving the spatial relationships between them. Assembly models could be constructed at various levels of abstraction. They could be classified into component or geometry-level assembly models. The geometry-level assembly design approach using mating constraints such as against and fits is widely used in the commercial modelers, but it may be very tedious in some cases fur designer. In this paper, we propose a new method to construct an assembly model at the component-level by extracting joint mating features from the kinematics constraints specified between components. The assembly model constructed using the proposed method includes hierarchical and relational assembly models, component/sub-assembly positions and degrees of freedom information. The proposed method is more intuitive and natural way of assembly design and it guarantees the topological robustness of assembly modification such as component replacement and modification.

  • This paper examines the industry field training education model, analyze the operational status proposed improvement measures. Data were analyzed using a field training participating students participating industry last three years. On the other hand analysis field training participating students increased, industry participation has decreased. And most of the students took part in the seasonal short-term job training. In addition, it was difficult to analyze the employment status field training operations follow-up member. In this paper, a field training operations support system management models and practical training courses organized field trips how to improve. Field training operations support will be strengthened through the work associated with the company expanding participation model introduced and is expected to increase in the long-term practical training, students participate in field training system improvement. Run the job training Improvement in future research presented in this paper attempts to analyze the students' employment status and results of operations involved.

  • The territorial air that our sovereignty is being applied to is divided into several zones and areas. In order to use and manage them effectively, these zones and areas have laws, regulations and rules. The number of airspaces (MOA : Military Operation Area) and Ranges that are used in the military are limited and many airbases are being used for training. Currently the central department manages some, and the rest are independent airbases. Therefore, efficient allocation is not performed and the result occurs where airspaces and ranges are allocated unnecessarily. This is increasing the workload of staff leading to unnecessary re-work. To slove problem, this study proposed models for allocating airspaces and ranges using goal programming with multi-objective functions of minimizing the deviations of the target values.

  • E-business strategy has interests in Issues of strategic positioning and its impact on firm performance. These studies address the environmental factors as antecedents to strategic decision makings and its consequences such like firm performance. However most studies has not considered the role of business models In explaining e-business firm performance. We adopt Porter's generic strategies to the e-business context. We Identify business models and e-business environmental factors as antecedents and then examine these factors Influence on firm performance. We find that uncertainty of environment has a negatively related to the strategic choices of e-Business firms; in contrast, market turbulence positively affects the level of adoption of all the strategies. Among the strategies, marketing differentiation only makes an Impact on firm performance.

  • This paper reviews various models of technological innovations at different levels: project level and productive segment level. Firstly, it examines a number of significant factors influencing the success and failure of technological innovation at project level. Specifically, the role and characteristics of technical information for the success of innovation is analyzed. Secondly, the paper discusses in detail the relationship between technological innovation and the evolution of a firm. Product and process innovations are analyzed in accordance with a three stage model; the stages are performance maximizing (uncoordinated), sales maximizing (segmental) and cost minimizing (systemic). Various implications of the model are presented in terms of the business policy variables such as diversification, standardization, productivity improvement, marketing, etc. The applicability of the model to a developing country is sought and a few suggestions to develop new model of technological innovations in LDC are discussed.

  • KADS is currently a best known methodology for expert system development is Europe. KADS world sees the expert system development as a modeling activity and uses models to control complexity of the development process. Four layers KADS expertise model is used to describe expert knowledge. But this expertise model in high abstraction level is conceptual and not formalized. This paper has formalized KADS expertise model using set theory and mathematical semantics combined in order to reduce the ambiguity of informal models of expertise, provide a precise means of communication about the model of expertise and point out incompleteness and inconsistency of the model of expertise. Instead of first order predicate calculs, set theory and mathematical semantics are used because they are a more general and have compositive quality.
