The effort to secure the aviation safety in each country of the world including our country, is one step more strengthening. For one of this effort, some advanced countries in aviation safety are operating the aviation incident reporting system, and in our country the aviation incident reporting system; Korea confidential incident reporting system is operated on Jan. 1. 2000. This article is introducing for those theoretical, politics and operational backgrounds of the aviation incident reporting system, foreign countries aviation incident reporting systems and our aviation incident reporting system including those status of reporting, and analysis.

Membrane-based gas separation systems are now widely accepted and employed as unit operation in industrial gas, chemical, and allied industries. Following their successful commercialization in the late seventies to recover hydrogen from ammonia purge gas streams, membrane-based systems have gained acceptance in a wide variety of applications. Numerous systems are in operation today to: recover hydrogen from other purge gas and hydrocarbon streams; adjust the $H_{2}/CO$ ratio in syngas; remove $CO_{2}$ from natural gas; recover helium; dry gas streams; and separate air. Lower cost, ease of operation, operational flexibility and portability are a few of the reasons membrane-based systems are chosen over absorption and cryogenic-based separations in certain applications.

This paper investigates the current status of the acquisition of information resources at the domestic hospitals. First of all, as a theoretical background, the concept of hospital information systems and the acquisition of information resources are reviewed. Second, as a research methodology, samples, data collection methods, and data analysis methods are discussed. Third, research hypotheses, operational definitions of the research variables and measurement are discussed. Fourth, as research results, characteristics of the samples and the current situations of the acquisition of information rourses are discussed based on the five research hypotheses.

Gravitational waves predicted by the general relativity almost 100 years ago have been implicated indirectly only by astrophysical observations such as the orbital evolution of binary pulsars. The advanced detectors of gravitational waves will become operational in a few years and they are expected to make direct detection of gravitational wave signal coming from merging of binaries composed of neutron stars or stellar mass black holes from external galaxies. Korean Gravitational Wave Group (KGWG) is contributing to the possible detection through the data analysis of LIGO and Virgo. We summarize the perspectives of the gravitational wave research and the impacts of the detection in the near future in astronomy and astrophysics.

CALS is a strategy to share integrated product data through a set of standards to achieve efficiencies in business and operational mission areas. In this research, we first studied current status for CALS standard and then analyzed the case of US DoD. The results can be summarized as implementing for two major standard in defense CALS system. They are STEP and XML. Our recommendations can be used to set direction for CALS standard implementation and standard selection process.

This paper introduces facility operation modeling and simulation based primarily on a discrete event system modeling scheme. Many modern industrial facilities are so complex that their operational status cannot be estimated by simple calculations. In general, a facility can consist of many processes and transfers of material between processes that may be modeled as a discrete event system. This paper introduces the current status of studies on operation modeling and simulation for typical nuclear facilities, along with some examples. In addition, this paper provides insights about how a discrete event system can be applied to a model for a nuclear facility. A headend facility is chosen for operation modeling and the simulation, and detailed procedure is thoroughly described from modeling to an analysis of discrete event results. These kinds of modeling and simulation are very important because they can contribute to facility design and operation in terms of prediction of system behavior, quantification of facility capacity, bottleneck identification and efficient operation scheduling.

The purpose of this paper is to study the current status of Y2K settlement in korean business firms. To accomplish the purpose of this paper effectively, first of all, theoretical background of Y2K was reviewed briefly. Second, research hypotheses and methodology were discussed with the following topics: (1) research hypotheses (2) operational definitions of variables (3) survey population (4) data collection method (5) data analysis method. Third, current status and problems of Y2K problems were investigated in detail with the following areas: (1) characteristics of samples (2) comparisons of Y2K settlement by business area (3) comparisons of Y2K settlement by firm sizes (4) comparisons of Y2K settlement by degree of information systems (5) effective ways of settling Y2K problems Finally, this paper was summarized and future research directions were suggested briefly.

This paper deals with the social system from the point of system thinking consisting the fundamental construct of system dynamics. The Bertalanffy's general system theory, having been criticized because of its ambiguity, and the complex science theory, emerging system theory, are integrated by using the system thinking which is characterized with three concepts, 'feedback thinking', 'dynamic thinking', 'operational thinking'. In the integration, system thinking suggests the dynamic pattern of the social system have not only an equilibrium status but also complex status. The science of complexity gives an implication to system dynamics the important of the uncertainty and complexity if we interpret the social system as an open system. To show more concrete description, I simulate the cooperation model based on the iterated prisoner dilemma. The simulation results show the diverse patterns of cooperation and betrayal. Especially the sensitivity of initial payoff will cause the chaotic strategic landscapes as the game gose on. These results mean that we should not give the hasty prescription to control social system artificially. Because social system retains the self-organizing force in itself.
