This paper offers the theory and method for regression analysis of the regression model with operational parameter variables based on the fundamentals of mathematical statistics. Regression coefficients are usually constants related to the problem of regression analysis. This paper considers that regression coefficients are not constants but the functions of some operational parameter variables. This is a kind of method of two-step fitting regression model. The second part of this paper considers the experimental step numbers as recursive variables, the recursive identification with unknown operational parameter variables, which includes two recursive variables, is deduced. Then the optimization and the recursive identification are combined to obtain the sequential experiment optimum design with operational parameter variables. This paper also offers a fast recursive algorithm for a large number of sequential experiments.

A computer simulation model for optimum design and determination of optimal operational parameter values for modern container terminal systems was developed through the use of GASP-IV, a subset of SLAM. Input data reflecting current system configuration and operational practices at Pusan container terminal was used to test the model, which resulted in its validation. Possibilities for application of the model in areas of candidate system comparisons, operational parameter testing and forecasting operational performance under future traffic situations, are explained.
To lower the operational cost of microbubble generation by electrolysis, optimization of parameters limiting the process must be carried out for the process to be fully adopted in environmental and industrial settings. In this study, four test electrodes were used namely aluminum, iron, stainless steel, and Dimensionally Sable Anode (DSA). We identified the effects and optimized each operational parameter including NaCl concentration, current density, pH, and electrode distance to reduce the operational cost of microbubble generation. The experimental results showed that was directly related to the rate and cost of microbubble generation. Adding NaCl and narrowing the distance between electrodes caused no substantial changes to the generation rate but greatly decreased the power requirement of the process, thus reducing operational cost. Moreover, comparison among the four electrodes operating under optimum conditions revealed that aluminum was the most efficient electrode in terms of generation rate and operational cost. This study therefore presents significant data on performing costefficient microbubble generation, which can be used in various environmental and industrial applications.
The fundamental small-signal modeling of lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries and a parameter evaluation approach are investigated in this study to describe the dynamic behaviors of small signals accurately. The main contributions of the study are as follows. 1) The operational principle of the small signals of Li-ion batteries is revealed to prove that the sinusoidal voltage response of a Li-ion battery is a result of a sinusoidal current stimulation of an AC small signals. 2) Three small-signal measurement conditions, namely stability, causality, and linearity, are proved mathematically proven to ensure the validity of the frequency response of the experimental data. 3) Based on the internal structure and electrochemical operational mechanism of the battery, an AC small-signal model is established to depict its dynamic behaviors. 4) A classical least-squares curve fitting for experimental data, referred as Levy's method, are introduced and developed to identify small-signal model parameters. Experimental and simulation results show that the measured frequency response data fit well within reading accuracy of the simulated results; moreover, the small-signal parameters identified by Levy's method are remarkably close to the measured parameters. Although the fundamental and parameter evaluation approaches are discussed for Li-ion batteries, they are expected to be applicable for other batteries.

This paper presents the methods for the modeling and parameter optimization of the electric vehicle battery. The state variables of the battery are defined, and the test methods for battery parameters are presented. The state-space equation, which consists of four state variables, and the output equation, which is a combination of to-be-determined parameters, are shown. The parameter optimization method is the key point of this study. The least square of the modeling error can be used as an initial value of the multivariable function. It is equivalent to find the minimum value of the error function to obtain optimal parameters from multivariable function. The SIMULINK model is presented, and the 10-hour full operational range test results are shown to verify the performance of the model. The modeling error for 25 degrees is approximately 1% for full operational ranges. The comments to enhance modeling accuracy are shown in the conclusion.
This paper presents a new method for finding the Block Pulse series coefficients, deriving the Block Pulse integration operational matrices and generalizing the integration operational matrices which are necessary for the control fields using the Block Pulse functions. In order to apply the Block Pulse function technique to the problems of state estimation or parameter identification more efficiently. it is necessary to find the more exact value of the Block Pulse series coefficients and integral operational matrices.

In this study, an integrated wave model from global to coastal scales was developed to improve the operational wave prediction performance of the Korean Meteorological Administration (KMA). In this system, the wave model was upgraded to the WaveWatch III version 6.07 with the improved parameterization of the source term. Considering the increased resolution of the wind input field and the introduction of the high-performance KMA 5th Supercomputer, the spatial resolution of global and regional wave models has been doubled compared to the operational model. The physical processes and coefficients of the wave model were optimized for the current KMA global atmospheric forecasting system, the Korean Integrated Model (KIM), which is being operated since April 2020. Based on the sensitivity experiment results, the wind-wave growth parameter (βmax) for the global wave model was determined to be 1.33 with the lowest root mean square errors (RMSE). The value of βmax showed the lowest error when applied to regional/coastal wave models for the period of the typhoon season when strong winds occur. Applying the new system to the case of August 2020, the RMSE for the 48-hour significant wave height prediction was reduced by 13.4 to 17.7% compared to the existing KMA operating model. The new integrated wave prediction system plans to replace the KMA operating model after long-term verification.

Operational Modal Analysis also known as Output Only Modal Analysis has in the recent years been used for extracting modal parameters of civil engineering structures and is now becoming popular for mechanical structures. The advantage of the method is that no artificial excitation need to be applied to the structure or force signals to be measured. All the parameter estimation is based upon the response signals, thereby minimising the work of preparation for the test. This test case is a controlled lab set-up enabling different parameter estimation methods techniques to be used and compared to the Operational Modal Analysis. For Operational Modal Analysis two different estimation techniques are used: a non-parametric technique based on Frequency Domain Decomposition (FDD), and a parametric technique working on the raw data in time domain, a data driven Stochastic Subspace Identification (SS!) algorithm. These are compared to other methods such as traditional Modal Analysis.
