  • Elimination of squeal noise generated during brake application is an important task for the improvement of comforts in vehicles. In this paper, the structure of the wet brake and its operation are described first, and the cause of the noise is analyzed by identifying how the factors such as torque, speed, oil pressure, lubricant, and friction material affect the noise. To verify the mechanism of generation of the noise, several experiments of brake applications are executed, Based upon the review on the technical papers and the results from the experiments, several solutions to reduce the noise, available in real applications, are suggested, and the feasibilities of them are confirmed through the applications to the current system.

  • An on-line diagnostic test has been studied and performed for the pumped storage generator/motor. This study aims at reducing the diagnostic cost, minimizing the technical dependency on third party manufactures. Further design of on-line diagnostic system such as shorted-turn of rotor winding, partial discharge (PD) of stator winding and air-gap between stator and rotor for pumped storage generator/motor has been verified. In addition, it needs to be validated on site performance of the developed continuous on-line monitoring system for corresponding tasks for the improvement of the availability & reliability during operation.

  • Analysis of squeal noise generated during brake operation is an important task for the improvement of brake noise prob-lem. By the use of measuring instrument and techniques, test and evaluation process are to be developed systematically in quantitative analysis.   • Mechanical structures of military equipment have been mainly applied with black oxide coating due to the limitation of surface treatment thickness. However, the mechanical structures applied by the black oxide coating treatment is constantly being corroded by calcium chloride and humidity. Since this can cause serious problems in the operation of equipment, a review to improve surface treatment and corrosion resistance is required. Therefore, in this study, surface treatment methods that can enhance corrosion resistance were selected and corrosion resistance performance was verified through experiments describing harsh field conditions. Thus, applying a proven surface treatment method to future military equipment will prevent corrosion.

  • These days, ubiquitous and RFID are often mentioned by mass media. This piper will introduce RFID-aided Baggage Tracking System that has been implemented under a government project, identify areas for improvement based on the up-to-date operation, and finally a research and development approach to address the issues. The document will also discuss mobile RFID R&D business that our research center is carrying out, and suggest technical requirements for successful RFID business from perspective of corporate research center. Last but not least it will talk about some opportunities that require cooperation among the govement, business and academy to ensure the relevant industry advances RFID business in Korea.

  • Diesel is an excellent candidate fuel for fuel cell applications due to its high hydrogen density and well-established infrastructure. But, it is hard to guarantee desirable performance of diesel reformer because diesel reforming has several problems such as sulfur poisoning of catalyst and carbon deposition. We have been focusing on diesel autothermal reforming(ATR) for substantial period. It is reported that ATR of diesel has several technical advantages such as relatively high efficiency and fuel conversion compared to steam reforming(SR) and partial oxidation(POX). In this paper, we investigate characteristics of diesel reforming under various ratios of reactants(oxygen to carbon ratio, steam to carbon ratio) for improvement of reforming performances(high reforming efficiency, high fuel conversion, low carbon deposition). We also exhibit calculated heat balance of autothermal reformer at each condition to help thermal management of SOFC system.

  • Automatic Train Stop (ATS) is a device that automatically stops or decelerates a train when the train exceeds the permitted speed limits or violates the signal regulations. The railway signaling system has been evolved to an automatic train control system (ATC), and is being developed into Distance-to-Go and Communication Based on Train Control (CBTC). In spite of that, the ATS system is currently being operated in Seoul Metro (line 1 and 2) and most of railway lines in Korea as well as overseas. In this study, we presents the technical methodology to prevent human errors in order to secure the safety in operation of the ATS system.

  • This paper describes minimum current control method for size reduction and performances improvement at unified inverter-induction motor system. This control method is based on V/F without speed sensor. Through the use of minimum stator current points at required torque during V/F operation it is possible to minimize the size of heat-sink related with the losses of power circuit and to improve overall efficiency compared to conventional V/F control. Using this proposed scheme, it is so much more useful to apply to some fields such a selectric vehicles. air conditioning system and textile mills where the limited space is given and required low cost.

  • Insert-injection molding can inject two different materials or two colors in the same mold and process. If this injection process use, product has ability because the base part maintain strength and specified part can inject soft-material. It makes the cost down by single operation automatically for saving wages. In this paper, we designed double-injection mold for automobile remote control to inject secondary using this part as insert after inject external appearance of product. CAE analysis was progressed gate location and runner size as variable and analysis result is reflected in mold design process. As a result, it could solved badness that is generated at the conventional mold. Additionally, cost is downed by reducing loss of runner as well as could omit painting process because surface of finished product is improved through new mold.

  • The purpose of this paper is to introduce the new products for replacing on the old technical cooperation products which have 24 kinds of industrial inverter model. The core algorithm for vector control and sensorless control and the operation program for LCD operator have been developed. Through the continuous test, the improvement of speed/torque control performance and the control program for special target loads will be performed.
