  • Necessity of the tole-operation has been increased in many fields. Since the Internet is inexpensive and available all over the world, it is a strong candidate for the transmission media of the tole-operation. However, the Internet has random time delays that may cause instability in the system especially if the tole -operation is bilateral. In the past few years many attempts have been made to overcome the random time delay, So far, they are still insufficient in terms of performance. The ‘Variable holding time’ is introduced to improve the performance of the ‘Event based tole-operation’ which controls a system with a non-time action reference. By holding each event for proper time, the system can quickly respond and be stabilized. The proper holding time should be selected based on the characteristics of the task that the system performs. The factors that reflect those characteristics are investigated. The fuzzy logic is employed to obtain the proper holding time for each event while the tole-operation system is in operation. The experimental results presented in this paper verify effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • The efficient operation and management strategies of reservoirs in irrigation periods of drought events are an essential element for drought planning and countermeasure. Korea Rural Community Corporation has developed the real-time water level observation system of agricultural reservoirs to efficiently operate reservoirs, however, it is not possible to predict drought conditions, and only provides information of current situation. Hence, it is necessary to evaluate accurate irrigation vulnerability and efficiently reservoir operation rules using current water level. In this paper, the improvement methods of reservoir operation planning were developed with water supply vulnerability characteristic curves comparing to automatic water gauge at agricultural reservoirs. The 11 reservoirs were simulated applying the reservoir operation rules which was determined by irrigation vulnerability characteristic curves criteria and real time water level, and evaluated water supply situation in 2012 year. The analysis of results can be identified probabilistic possibility of water supply failures compared with the existing reservoir operation criteria. These results of efficient reservoir operation rules can be achieved enable irrigation planners to optimally manage available water resources for decision making, and contributed to maintain the water supply according to demand strategy for agricultural reservoirs management.

  • In this paper, the operation regions of a three-phase voltage-source PWM converter are defined: linear modulation region, allowed current region, linear control region, unity power-factor region, and power-factor decreasing region. Particularly, the power-factor decreasing region is first examined and defined as the region where both the sinusoidal input current control and the stable DC link voltage regulation can not be obtained with a unity power-factor operation. To avoid these undesirable effects, the optimal current vector is derived, which ensures the sinusoidal input current and the stable DC link voltage regulation with maximum power-factor available, and, in consequence, it extends the operation region of the PWM converter. The validity of the proposed control scheme is proved by the computer simulation.

  • The ITT Industry's Commercial Advanced Geo-Imager (CAGI) which is a recurrent version of imagers used in the GOES series was selected as the COMS Meteorological Imager (MI). The ITT Imager can conduct some special observation such as the space look, blackbody observation, and star sensing regularly or irregularly for its radiometric quality control. Because the GOES-9 which uses an ITT Imager has become operational over the Western Pacific and Eastern Asia positioned at 155 degrees East, the reception of the GOES-9 data is available in Korea. As a step of preparing the COMS MI operation, we conduct the analysis of the GOES-9 imager raw data and operation procedures and compare them with contents of the ITT Imager's manual.

  • This paper proposes a maximum torque operation strategy for the direct torque control of a surface-mounted permanent-magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM). The proposed method analyzes the available operation region of the stator flux of the SPMSM under voltage and current constraints. Based on this analysis, the optimal stator flux trajectory that yields the maximum torque is obtained across the entire operation region, including constant torque and constant power regions. The proposed strategy is also applicable in the flux-weakening region II operation of the SPMSM, which has no speed limit. The validity of the proposed method is verified through experiments conducted on an 800 W SPMSM drive system.

  • The purpose of this study is to established a storage management method and operation standard for irrigation dams occupying the largest portion of small dams using storage management system. The system can be applied to seongju dam for effective management. The storage management method was established considering hydrology simulation and statistical analysis using the system. This method and operation standard are capable of analyzing additional available water, considering the water demand and supply of basin actually. It can improve the flood control capacity and water utilization efficiency by the flexible operation of storage space.

  • In this paper, the analysis methods of available information are reviewed and it is elicited to the method of which the analysis results are applied to the Autonomous Decentralized Train Management System for the optimization at the point of the route control time and for making the efficiency shunting plan in the Autonomous Centralized Station Operation Control System. As the statistics and estimated information which are got through the utilizable information analysis are applied for the automatic route control function and the shunting plan management of the station operation control system, it is possible to use efficiently the station information by the autonomous route control system. And as the exact forecast information needed for the shunting plan establishment and the operation is provided to the operator, it is established to the efficient train operation plan.

  • A keratinized gingiva is important to the natural teeth and it is more essential to the health of the peri-implant mucosa of the implants. There are various surgical methods to restore a keratinized gingiva. First, a clinician could utilize apically positioned flap operation. This flap operation technique could be used as a full or partial thickness. If there is little keratinized gingival tissue available for the apically positioned flap operation, free gingival grafting should be used. Its technique sensitivity is relatively high, but using various surgical techniques and disciplines makes it simple and have the good predictability. There have been many considerations for those surgical techniques. Clinicians who treat for periodontitis or operate implant surgeries have to know the considerations and surgical methods.
