  • This paper proposed train operation simulation algorithm, algorithm to determining operational mode and algorithm for train performance program, which play a important role in multi-train operation simulation. Using railway network modelling and signalling systems modelling already developed, these algorithms was presented.

  • In this paper, an operational algorithm for a 2-shaft parallel hybrid electric vehicle is suggested for the minimization of operation cost. The operation cost is obtained as a summation of the engine fuel cost and the motor electricity cost. The electrical cost function is estimated in case of motoring, and generating when the recuperation is carried out during the braking. In addition, weight function is introduced in order to maintain the battery state of charge. Based on the operation algorithm, the optimal engine operation point that minimizes the operation cost is obtained with respect to the required vehicle power for every state of charge of battery. The optimal operation point provides the optimal power distribution of the engine and the motor for a required vehicle power Simulation was performed and the fuel economy of the hybrid vehicle was compared to that of the conventional vehicle. Simulation results showed that hybrid vehicle's fuel economy can be improved as much as 45∼48% compared to the conventional vehicle's.

  • In the automatic operation of an urban rail vehicle, a conventional PID control algorithm is applied to run the vehicle between stations within time limit and jerk limit. But the energy consumption in the automatic operation is much higher than in the manual operation. In this study, the optimal control algorithm for automatic operation is proposed to minimize energy consumption, which satisfies automatic operation for the urban rail vehicle, compared with the conventional PID control algorithm.

  • In remote USV (Unmanned Surface Vehicle) maritime operation, the remote operation and control technic and autonomous control technic is required and the emergency mode algorithm is needed certainly for sailing and accomplishing various surveillance, reconnaissance, and underwater search missions of USV. In this paper, we review the countermeasures in emergency situation of the existing USV system (Barracuda) and propose the emergency mode algorithm considering the operation and control, and autonomous control level for the stable USV operation in case of emergency. We analyzed the autonomous control level in view of the mission complexity and environmental difficulty, and human interface, and verified the performance of the autonomous control level when we apply four emergency mode algorithms. It is expected that more stable and reliable operation and cotrol are possible if the proposed algorithm is applied to the environments requiring the various multi-mission USV sailing and mission achievement.

실시간 전기요금제에서 마이크로그리드의 운용 방법 (Microgrid operating method in realtime pricing)

  • This paper presents the operation algorithm of microgrid on the Real Time Pricing(RTP) for building the smart grid. RTP is higher power price variability than flat rate and time of use. However it has an effect on peak clipping and peak load shifting due to the increased price on peak time power demand. When the RTP are applied to the microgrid system, the proposed algorithm is able to be effective and economic operation. The implemented system is operated for the economic operation in microgrid connected with the power system. On the other hand, when the microgrid is operated on isolation mode, it focus on the improvement of stability and the power supply reliability of the sensitive loads. The test system are implemented and calculated on various operation modes based on non-dispachable generator output and RTP data for validating the proposed operation algorithm. The calculated results are compared to the implemented results using real-time simulator. It can be confirmed that the proposed operation system are identical results to the calculated one. When the proposed operation algorithm is applied to the system, it can be show the effectiveness of the peak clipping and peak load shifting and the improvement of economic feasibility.

  • Recently, as one of the policies for carbon free operation method of independent power system replacing diesel generator with renewable energy such as wind power and photovoltaic(PV) system has been presented. Therefore, this paper proposes an operation algorithm and modeling of independent power system by considering CVCF(constant voltage constant frequency) ESS(energy storage system) for constant frequency and voltage, LC(load control) ESS for demand and supply balancing and SVC(static var compensator) for reactive power compensation. From the simulation results based on the various operation scenario, it is confirmed that proposed operation algorithm and modeling may contribute stable operation and carbon free in independent power system.

  • This paper proposes a new operation algorithm for elevator by considering both better service for passengers and minimization of energy consumption for elevator operation. The main idea of the proposed operation algorithm is based on the assumption that passengers push the numbered buttons indicating their destination, one of the main differences of proposed operation mode from the conventional one is that the elevator may move to the opposite direction for a few floors according to the rescheduled operational pattern determined by some factors. Some examples by computer simulation show the efficiency of the proposed operation algorithm.

정밀농업을 위한 트랙터-작업기의 최적 경로계획 (Optimal Path Planning of a Tractor-implement for Precision Farming)

  • Path planning for field operation of agricultural machinery is an indispensible part for precision farming or autonomous field operation. In this study, two algorithms (I, II) of generating a time-based shortest operation path were suggested to plan an optimal operation of an agricultural tractor-implement in a rectangular shaped field. The algorithms were based on modification of a minimum spanning tree algorithm, and applied for tractor-implement operations. the generated path was consisted of round operation and returning operation sections. The number of round operation was determined from the condition that a tractor can turn smoothly at headlands. The performance of the algorithms was evaluated by the calculation number for path generation and the total path length generated. Their stability was affected by the number of returning operation, but the algorithm II was considered to be more stable. In addition, the performances of the developed algorithms were compared with those of the conventional field operations at selected field sizes and shapes. The results showed that the algorithms could reduce field operation time greatly. For a 100m$\times$40m field, the reduced path length was 78m. The study also included an user interface program for implementing the algorithms and generating GPS coordinates that could be used in GIS softwares for precision farming.

  • ATC(Automatic Train Control) system employed in Bundang urban transit is operated in accordance with automatic blocking equipment. Using AF(Audio Frequency) track circuits installed at a block section, the block signal is automatically controlled and the safety of train operation is supported. In this paper, we investigate the operation mode of bundang urban transit and analyze the operation algorithm of ATC on-board system.

Implementation of Rijndael Block Cipher Algorithm

  • This paper presents the design of Rijndael crypto-processor with 128 bits, 192 bits and 256 bits key size. In October 2000 Rijndael cryptographic algorithm is selected as AES(Advanced Encryption Standard) by NIST(National Institute of Standards and Technology). Rijndael algorithm is strong in any known attacks. And it can be efficiently implemented in both hardware and software. We implement Rijndael algorithm in hardware, because hardware implementation gives more fast encryptioN/decryption speed and more physically secure. We implemented Rijndael algorithm for 128 bits, 192 bits and 256 bits key size with VHDL, synthesized with Synopsys, and simulated with ModelSim. This crypto-processor is implemented using on-the-fly key generation method and using lookup table for S-box/SI-box. And the order of Inverse Shift Row operation and Inverse Substitution operation is exchanged in decryption round operation of Rijndael algorithm. It brings about decrease of the total gate count. Crypto-processor implemented in these methods is applied to mobile systems and smart cards, because it has moderate gate count and high speed.
