석유화학공장 규모 최적화를 위한 변수 선정 (Selecting Decision Variable for a Plant-wide Optimization)

  • 에너지의 소비가 큰 화학공장은 공정 자체가 가지는 비선형성, 불안정성등과 여러 가지 외란으로 인한 최적의 상태로 운전되고 있지 못하다. 이를 개선하기 위해 공장 전체 최적화를 수행하게 된다. 공장 전체를 대상으로 하는 최적화에는 경제적으로 영향을 주는 조절 변수가 많기 때문에 조절 변수의 개수를 최적으로 선정하는 문제는 중요하다. 경제적으로 영향을 주는 조절 변수를 모두 사용하여 최적화를 할 경우 최적화하여 나온 결과를 운전 조건에 반영할 때 많은 운전조건이 바뀌게 되므로 운전 조건의 변화에 따른 비용이 증가하게 된다.본 연구에서는 TPA(Terephthalic Acid) 공정을 대상으로 공장 규모 최적화를 하기 위하여 운전 비용에 영향을 주는 최적화 조절 변수를 최적으로 선정하기 위한 방법을 제시하였다. 즉, 모델을 만든 후 운전비용에 영향을 주는 조절 변수의 정도를 민감도 분석을 통해 알아 봄으로써 최적화할 때 운전 비용에 영향이 큰 변수들만 사용하는 것이다. TPA공정에서는 본 연구에서 제시한 방법에 의해 3개의 조절 변수를 선정하였고 선정된 변수로 최적화 한 결과 추가적인 설비 투자나 물리적인 개조 등이 없이 연간 약 3억 5천 만원의 에너지 비용 절감이 기대 된다.

  • A mathematical model was developed for the simulation of a Pressure Swing Adsorption process with dehydrogenation reaction. The minimum number of beds and optimum operating sequence were determined using MINLP under the given operating conditions. Based on these results, we estimated the minimum annual cost.

  • This paper proposes efficiency optimization control of IPMSM drive using multi hybrid fuzzy controller(HFC). The design of the speed controller based on fuzzy-neural network that is implemented using fuzzy control and neural network. The design of the current based on HFC using model reference and the estimation of the speed based on neural network using ANN controller. In order to maximize the efficiency in such applications, this paper proposes the optimal control method of the armature current. The controllable electrical loss which consists of the copper loss and the iron loss can be minimized by the optimal control of the armature current. The minimization of loss is possible to realize efficiency optimization control for the proposed IPMSM The optimal current can be decided according to the operating speed and the load conditions. This paper considers the design and implementation of novel technique of high performance speed control for IPMSM using multi HFC. Also, this paper proposes speed control of IPMSM using HFC1, current control of HFC2-HFC3 and estimation of speed using ANN controller. The proposed control algorithm is applied to IPMSM drive system controlled HFC, the operating characteristics controlled by efficiency optimization control are examined in detail.

  • Optimal efficiency control of synchronous reluctance motor(SynRM) is very important in the sense of energy saving and conservation of natural environment because the efficiency of the SynRM is generally lower than that of other types of AC motors. This paper is proposed a novel efficiency optimization control of SynRM considering iron loss using multi adaptive fuzzy learning controller(AFLC). The optimal current ratio between torque current and exciting current is analytically derived to drive SynRM at maximum efficiency. This paper is proposed an efficiency optimization control for the SynRM which minimizes the copper and iron losses. There exists a variety of combinations of d and q-axis current which provide a specific motor torque. The objective of the efficiency optimization control is to seek a combination of d and q-axis current components, which provides minimum losses at a certain operating point in steady state. The control performance of the proposed controller is evaluated by analysis for various operating conditions. Analysis results are presented to show the validity of the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper presents a novel approach to economic dispatch (ED) with nonconvex fuel cost function as combinatorial optimization problems (COP) while most of the conventional researches have been developed as function optimization problems (FOP). One nonconvex fuel cost function can be divided into several convex fuel cost functions, and each convex function can be regarded as a generation type (G-type). In that case, ED with nonconvex fuel cost function can be considered as COP finding the best case among all feasible combinations of G-types. In this paper, a genetic algorithm is applied to solve the COP, and the ${\lambda}-P$ function method is used to calculate ED for the fitness function of GA. The ${\lambda}-P$ function method is reviewed briefly and the GA procedure for COP is explained in detail. This paper deals with two kinds of ED problems, namely ED with multiple fuel units (EDMF) and ED with prohibited operating zones (EDPOZ). The proposed method is tested for all the ED problems, and the test results show an improvement in solution cost compared to the results obtained from conventional algorithms.

  • This paper presents an efficient approach for solving economic dispatch (ED) problems with nonconvex cost functions using a 'Mean-Variance Optimization (MVO)' algorithm with Kuhn-Tucker condition and swap process. The aim of the ED problem, one of the most important activities in power system operation and planning, is to determine the optimal combination of power outputs of all generating units so as to meet the required load demand at minimum operating cost while satisfying system equality and inequality constraints. This paper applies Kuhn-Tucker condition and swap process to a MVO algorithm to improve a global minimum searching capability. The proposed MVO is applied to three different nonconvex ED problems with valve-point effects, prohibited operating zones, transmission network losses, and multi-fuels with valve-point effects. Additionally, it is applied to the large-scale power system of Korea. The results are compared with those of the state-of-the-art methods as well.

There exists a variety of combinations of d and q-axis current which provide a specific motor torque. The objective of the efficiency optimization controller is to seek a combination of d and q-axis current components, which provides minimum losses at a certain operating point in steady state. It is shown that the current components which directly govern the torque production have been very well regulated by the efficiency optimization control scheme. The proposed algorithm allows the electromagnetic losses in variable speed and torque drives to be reduced while keeping good torque control dynamics. The control performance of the hybrid artificial intelligent controller is evaluated by analysis for various operating conditions. Analysis results are presented to show the validity of the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper presents a novel optimization method for the air- and gas-supplying network comprised of several air compression systems and air and gas streams in an industrial chemical plant. The optimization is based on the hybrid model developed by Han and $Han^1$ for predicting the power consumption of a compression system. A constrained optimization problem was formulated to minimize the total electric power consumption of all the compression systems in the air- and gas-supplying network under various operating constraints and was solved using a successive quadratic optimization algorithm. The optimization approach was applied to an industrial terephthalic acid manufacturing plant to achieve about 10% reduction in the total electric power consumption under varying ambient conditions.

  • This paper presents the power scheduling of a multi-microgrid (MMG) system using an optimization technique called particle swarm optimization (PSO). The PSO technique has been shown to be most effective at solving the various problems of the economic dispatch (ED) in a power system. In addition, a new MMG system configuration is proposed in this paper, through which the optimal power flow is achieved. Both optimization and power trading methods within an MMG are studied. The results of implementing PSO in an MMG system for optimal power flow and cost minimization are obtained and compared with another attractive and efficient optimization technique called the genetic algorithm (GA). The comparison between these two effective methods provides very competitive results, and their operating costs also appear to be comparable. Finally, in this study, power scheduling and a power trading method are obtained using the MATLAB program.
