Efficiency Optimization Control for Energy Saving of IPMSM Drive (IPMSM 구동의 에너지 절감을 위한 효율 최적화 제어)

  • Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) is widely used in many applications such as an electric vehicle, compressor drives of air conditioner and machine tool spindle drives. In order to maximize the efficiency in such applications, this paper is proposed the optimal control method of the armature current. The controllable electrical loss which consists of the copper loss and the iron loss can be minimized by the optimal control of the armature current. The minimization of loss is possible to realize efficiency optimization control for the proposed IPMSM The optimal current can be decided according to the operating speed and the load conditions. The proposed control algorithm is applied to IPMSM drive system, the operating characteristics controlled by efficiency optimization control are examined in detail by simulation.

  • This paper studies constrained optimization of an M/G/1 queue with a server that can be switched on and off. One criterion is an average number of customers in the system and another criterion is an average operating cost per unit time, where operating costs consist of switching and running costs. With the help of queueing theory, we solve the problems of optimization of one of these criteria under a constraint for another one.

A Study of Development of an Axial-Type Fan with an Optimization Method (최적화기법을 이용한 축류형 송풍기개발에 관한 연구)

  • An axial-type fan which operates at the relative total pressure of 671Pa and static pressure of 560Pa with the flow rate of $416.6m^3/min$ is developed with an optimization technique based on the gradient method. Prior to the optimization of fan blade, a three-dimensional axial-type fan blade is designed based on the free-vortex method along the radial direction. Twelve design variables are applied to the optimization of the rotor blade, and one design variable is selected for optimizing a stator which is located behind of the rotor and is used to support a fan driving motor. The total and static pressure are applied to the restriction condition with the operating flowrate on the design point, and the efficiency is chosen as the response variable to be maximized. Through these procedures, an initial axial-fan blade designed by the free vortex method is modified to increase the efficiency with the satisfaction of the operating condition. The optimized fan is tested to compare the aerodynamic performance with an imported same class fan. The test result shows that the optimized fan operates with the satisfaction of restriction conditions, but the imported fan cannot. From the experimental and numerical test, they show that this optimization method improves the fan efficiency and operating pressures of a fan designed by the classical fan design method.

Multiple Drones Collision Avoidance in Path Segment Using Speed Profile Optimization (다수 드론의 충돌 회피를 위한 경로점 구간 속도 프로파일 최적화)

  • In an environment where multiple drones are operated, collisions can occur when path points overlap, and collision avoidance in preparation for this is essential. When multiple drones perform multiple tasks, it is not appropriate to use a method to generate a collision-avoiding path in the path planning phase because the path of the drone is complex and there are too many collision prediction points. In this paper, we generate a path through a commonly used path generation algorithm and propose a collision avoidance method using speed profile optimization from that path segment. The safe distance between drones was considered at the expected point of collision between paths of drones, and it was designed to assign a speed profile to the path segment. The optimization problem was defined by setting the distance between drones as variables in the flight time equation. We constructed the constraints through linearize and convexification, and compared the computation time of SQP and convex optimization method in multiple drone operating environments. Finally, we confirmed whether the results of performing convex optimization in the 20 drone operating environments were suitable for the multiple drone operating system proposed in this study.

  • Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) has become a popular choice in electric vehicle applications, due to their excellent power to weight ratio. This paper proposes efficiency optimization control of IPMSM drive using adaptive fuzzy learning control fuzzy neural network (AFLC-FNN) controller. In order to maximize the efficiency in such applications, this paper proposes the optimal control method of the armature current. The controllable electrical loss which consists of the copper loss and the iron loss can be minimized by the optimal control of the armature current. The minimization of loss is possible to realize efficiency optimization control for the proposed IPMSM. The optimal current can be decided according to the operating speed and the load conditions. This paper considers the design and implementation of novel technique of high performance speed control for IPMSM using AFLC-FNN controller. Also, this paper proposes speed control of IPMSM using AFLC-FNN and estimation of speed using ANN controller. The back propagation neural network technique is used to provide a real time adaptive estimation of the motor speed. The proposed control algorithm is applied to IPMSM drive system controlled AFLC-FNN controller, the operating characteristics controlled by efficiency optimization control are examined in detail.

An Economic Dispatch Algorithm as Combinatorial Optimization Problems

  • This paper presents a novel approach to economic dispatch (ED) with nonconvex fuel cost function as combinatorial optimization problems (COP) while most of the conventional researches have been developed as function optimization problems (FOP). One nonconvex fuel cost function can be divided into several convex fuel cost functions, and each convex function can be regarded as a generation type (G-type). In that case, ED with nonconvex fuel cost function can be considered as COP finding the best case among all feasible combinations of G-types. In this paper, a genetic algorithm is applied to solve the COP, and the $\lambda$-P table method is used to calculate ED for the fitness function of GA. The $\lambda$-P table method is reviewed briefly and the GA procedure for COP is explained in detail. This paper deals with three kinds of ED problems, namely ED considering valve-point effects (EDVP), ED with multiple fuel units (EDMF), and ED with prohibited operating zones (EDPOZ). The proposed method is tested for all three ED problems, and the test results show an improvement in solution cost compared to the results obtained from conventional algorithms.

This paper proposes efficiency optimization control of IPMSM drive using adaptive fuzzy learning controller(AFLC). In order to optimize the efficiency the loss minimization algorithm is developed based on motor model and operating condition. The d-axis armature current is utilized to minimize the losses of the IPMSM in a closed loop vector control environment. The design of the current based on adaptive fuzzy control using model reference and the estimation of the speed based on neural network using ANN controller. The controllable electrical loss which consists of the copper loss and the iron loss can be minimized by the optimal control of the armature current. The minimization of loss is possible to realize efficiency optimization control for the proposed IPMSM. The optimal current can be decided according to the operating speed and the load conditions.   • This proposes an online loss minimization algorithm for series PI(SPI) based interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) drive to yield high efficiency and high dynamic performance over wide speed range. The loss minimization algorithm is developed based on the motor model. In order to minimize the controllable electrical losses of the motor and thereby maximize the operating efficiency, the d-axis armature current is controlled optimally according to the operating speed and load conditions. For vector control purpose, a SPI is used as a speed controller which enables the utilization of the reluctance torque to achieve high dynamic performance as well as to operate the motor over a wide speed range. Also, this paper proposes current control of model reference adaptive fuzzy controller(MFC), and estimation of speed using artificial neural network(ANN) controller. The proposed efficiency optimization control, SPI, MFC, ANN in this paper is applied to IPMSM drive system, the validity of this paper is proved by analyzing response characteristics in variety operating conditions.
