전해산성수를 이용한 암모니아 중화와 제거 (Ammonia neutralization and removal using electrolyzed-acidic water)

  • 전기분해 공정으로 제조한 전해산성수를 이용하여 생활 악취의 원인인 암모니아를 제거하는 방법을 연구하였다. 제조한 전해산성수는 pH와 ORP 변화 측정을 통해 안정적으로 알칼리성 암모니아를 중화 시킬 수 있는 전해수(중화제)로 확인되었다. 자외-가시선 흡광도 분석과 전기화학적 개방회로 전위 측정으로 전해산성수와 암모니아수를 혼합한 용액에서 암모니아가 제거되는 것을 확인하였다. 암모니아 가스 발생량 측정을 통해 전해산성수가 암모니아를 중화시켜 악취 발생시키는 암모니아가 효과적으로 제거되는 것으로 조사되었다. 친환경적인 전해산성수가 악취의 원인 물질인 암모니아를 효과적으로 안전하게 제거할 수 있는 것으로 확인되었다.

알루미늄 열용사 코팅된 AA5083-H321의 내식성 평가 (Corrosion Resistance Evaluation of Aluminum Thermal Spray Coated AA5083-H321)

  • In this study, anti-corrosion effect was investigated through various electrochemical experiments after applying Al thermal spraying technology to AA5083-H321. Open circuit potential and anodic polarization curves were analyzed through electrochemical experiments in natural seawater. The shape of the surface was observed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and a 3D microscope before and after the experiment. Component and crystal structure were analyzed through EDS and XRD. As a result, the surface roughness of AA5083-H321 and the Al thermal sprayed coating layer increased due to surface damage caused by anodic dissolution reaction during the anodic polarization experiment. The corrosion rate of AA5083-H321 was relatively low because the Al thermal spray coating layer contained structural defects such as pores and crevices. Nevertheless, the open circuit potential of the Al thermal spray coating layer in natural seawater was measured about 0.2 V lower than that of AA5083-H321. Thus, a sacrificial anode protection effect can be expected.

식염수에서 내식성 성능에 대한 Al 와이어의 5%Mg 합금 효과 (Effect of 5%Mg alloying in Al wire on corrosion resistance performance in saline solution)

  • The presence of chloride (Cl-) ions in environments causes localized corrosion resulting decrease the durability of the structures. In this study, 5% Mg containing Al alloys (Al-5Mg) wire used vis-à-vis compared its corrosion resistance with pure Al in 3.5wt.% NaCl solution with exposure periods. Initially both wires exhibited identical open circuit potential (OCP) attributed to the presence of native oxide film on the surface but with the exposure periods it shifted towards active direction owing to the dissolution of oxide film. The pure Al continuously shifted the OCP towards active direction while Al-5Mg shows stabilization of OCP after 8 days of exposure. The OCP of Al-5Mg is slightly higher compared to pure Al wire owing to the activeness of Mg. The total impedance of the Al-5Mg alloy is almost three times greater than pure Al with exposure periods in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution. It might be formation of Al-Mg LDH (layered double hydroxide) thin film onto the surface.

  • This paper deals with the comparison and analysis for open-circuit field of PM(permanent magnet) machines with Halbach and circumferential magnetized rotor. The governing equation is derived in terms of magnetic vector potential and 2-d polar coordinate. And then, analytical results has been verified by comparison with those obtained from FE(finite element) method. On the basis of 2-d analytical results, this paper confirms that PM machines with circumferential magnetized rotor is superior to it with Halbach magnetized rotor in terms of magnitude and sinusoidal wave-forms of flux density due to PM and required magnet volume.

Corrosion Behavior of Nickel-Plated Alloy 600 in High Temperature Water

  • In this paper, electrochemical and microstructural characteristics of nickel-plated Alloy 600 were investigated in order to identify the performance of electroless Ni-plating on Alloy 600 in high-temperature aqueous condition with the comparison of electrolytic nickel-plating. For high temperature corrosion test of nickel-plated Alloy 600, specimens were exposed for 770 hours to typical PWR primary water condition. During the test, open circuit potentials (OCP's) of all specimens were measured using a reference electrode. Also, resistance to flow accelerated corrosion (FAC) test was examined in order to check the durability of plated layers in high-velocity flow environment at high temperature. After exposures to high flow rate aqueous condition, the integrity of surfaces was confirmed by using both scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). For the field application, a remote process for electroless nickel-plating was demonstrated using a plate specimen with narrow gap on a laboratory scale. Finally, a practical seal design was suggested for more convenient application.

과도상태에서 PT 철공진의 해석적 분석 (Analytical Analysis of PT Ferroresonance in the Transient-State)

  • When a circuit breaker is opened, a large capacitance around the buses, the circuit breaker and the potential transformer (PT) might cause PT ferroresonance. During PT ferroresonance, the iron core repeats saturation and unsaturation even though the supplied voltage is a rated voltage. This paper describes an analytical analysis of PT ferroresonance in the transient-state. To analyze ferroresonance analytically, the iron core is modelled by a simplified two-segment core model in this paper. Thus, a nonlinear ordinary differential equation (ODE) for the flux linkage is changed into a linear ODE with constant coefficients, which enables an analytical analysis. In this simplified model, each state, which is either saturated or unsaturated state, corresponds to one of the three modes, i.e. overdamping, critical damping and underdamping. The flux linkage and the voltage in each state are obtained analytically by solving the linear ODE with constant coefficients. The proposed transient analysis is effective in the more understanding of ferroresonance and thus can be used to design a ferroresonance prevention or suppression circuit of a PT.

  • This paper introduces major potential faults of IPMSM and their simulation realization methods. The faults of IPMSM, generally, contain single-phase open circuit, single-phase or 3-phase short circuit, and uncontrolled generation. When different fault occurs, the circuit of total system including motor and inverter also will be changed. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze and establish independent model for each kind of fault. In this paper, first, the drive circuit is analyzed as different fault type. Then, the corresponding simulation results solved in Simulink@MATLAB are given. The absence of experiment results leads that the veracity of simulation results can not be verified, but the tendency will be explained by theory analysis.

New insights in piezoelectric free-vibrations using simplified modeling and analyses

  • New insights are presented in simplified modeling and analysis of free vibrations of piezoelectric - based smart structures and systems. These consist, first, in extending the wide used piezoelectric-thermal analogy (TA) simplified modeling approach in currently static actuation to piezoelectric free-vibrations under short-circuit (SC) and approximate open-circuit (OC) electric conditions; second, the popular piezoelectric strain induced - potential (IP) simplified modeling concept is revisited. It is shown that the IP resulting frequencies are insensitive to the electric SC/OC conditions; in particular, SC frequencies are found to be the same as those resulting from the newly proposed OC TA. Two-dimensional plane strain (PStrain) and plane stress (PStress) free-vibrations problems are then analyzed for above used SC and approximate OC electric conditions. It is shown theoretically and validated numerically that, for both SC and OC electric conditions, PStress frequencies are lower than PStrain ones, and that 3D frequencies are bounded from below by the former and from above by the latter. The same holds for the modal electro-mechanical coupling coefficient that is retained as a comparator of presented models and analyses.

  • Superstrate pin amorphous silicon thin-film(a-Si:H) solar cells are prepared on $SnO_2:F$ and ZnO:Al transparent conducting oxides(TCO) in order to see the effect of TCO/p-layers on a-Si:H solar cell operation. The solar cells prepared on textured ZnO:Al have higher open circuit voltage VOC than cells prepared on $SnO_2:F$. Presence of thin microcrystalline p-type silicon layer(${\mu}c-Si:H$) between ZnO:Al and p a-SiC:H plays a major role by causing improvement in fill factor as well as $V_{OC}$ of a-Si:H solar cells prepared on ZnO:Al TCO. Without any treatment of pi interface, we could obtain high $V_{OC}$ of 994mV while keeping fill factor(72.7%) and short circuit current density $J_{SC}$ at the same level as for the cells on $SnO_2:F$ TCO. This high $V_{OC}$ value can be attributed to modification in the current transport in this region due to creation of a potential barrier.
