Purpose: This study was conducted to compare effects of open and closed suctioning methods on lung dynamics (dynamic compliance, tidal volume, and airway resistance) and hypoxemia (oxygen saturation and heart rate) in mechanically ventilated patients. Methods: This study was a cross-over repeated design. Participants were 21 adult patients being treated with endotracheal intubation using a pressure-controlled ventilator below Fraction of Inspired Oxygen ($FiO_2$) 60% and PEEP $8cmH_2O$. Data were collected at baseline and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10 minutes after suctioning. Data were analyzed using two-factor ANOVA with repeated measures on time and suctioning type. Results: Effects of the interaction between suction type and time were significant for oxygen saturation and heart rate but not significant for dynamic compliance, tidal volume, or airway resistance. Prior to performance of suctioning, tidal volume and oxygen saturation were significantly lower, but airway pressure and heart rate were significantly higher using the closed suctioning method as compared with the open suctioning method. Conclusion: For patients on ventilator therapy below $FiO_2$ 60% and PEEP $8cmH_2O$, open suctioning performed after delivery of 100% $FiO_2$ using a mechanical ventilator may not have as much negative impact on lung dynamics and hypoxemia as closed suctioning.

Background: Chronic ankle instability is a common injury that decreases balance and negatively affects functional movements, such as jumping and landing. Objectives: To analyze the effect of taping types and jump heights on balance with eyes open and closed during jump landings in chronic ankle instability. Design: Within-subject design. Methods: The study involved 22 patients with chronic ankle instability. They performed both double-leg and single-leg drop jump landings using three conditions (elastic taping, non-elastic taping, and barefoot) on three different jump platforms (30, 38, and 46 cm). Balance was measured using the Romberg's test with eyes open and closed. Results: Interaction effect was not statistically significant. Balance with eyes open and closed was significantly improved in both the elastic taping and non-elastic taping conditions compared to the barefoot condition. There was no significant difference according to the jump height. Conclusion: Individuals with chronic ankle instability demonstrated increased balance ability with eyes open and closed when jump landing. Elastic taping and non-elastic taping on the ankle joint can positively affect balance during landing in individuals with chronic ankle instability.

We introduce the concepts of fuzzy s-continuous mappings, s-open mappings, and s-closed mappings. We investigate several properties of such mappings. In particular, we study the relation between fuzzy s-continuous mappings and fuzzy s-open mappings(s-closed mappings).

The purpose of this study is to find out significant factors which have effects on the communition styles and adolescents' satisfaction in communication through the investigation of the communication styles between adolescents and mothers and the degree of adolescents' satisfaction in communication. The subjects of this study were 44 high school students in Seoul Statistical methods emploid to analyze the data were percentage, frequency, mean, X2-test, F-test and multiple regression. The results were as follows; 1) The communication styles between adolescents and mothers were divided into 4 grpups, and the proportion of these 4 groups were mutual open style 40.3% mutual closed style 34.5%, adolescent closed-mother open style 13.1% and adolescent open-mother closed style 12.2%. 2) Factors influencing the communication styles were sex (p<.001), communication time (p<.001) and atomosphere of families(p<.001). 3) The degree of adolescents' satisfaction in communication were significantly different depending on the communication style (p<.001), sex (p<.001), communication time (p<.001) educational level of father (p<.05), employment status of mother (p<.05), atomosphere of famlies (p<.001) and economic condition of families (p<.001). 4) The most significant variables influencing the degree of adolescents' satisfaction were communication styles and the atomosphere of families. The groups using open communication styles were more satisfied with their communication that the groups using closed communication styles. The female adolescents were more sensitively influenced than male adolescents with these two variables.

이미지나 동영상은 텍스트보다도 많은 정보를 함축하고 있기 때문에 이를 추출해내고 분석하는 일은 매우 중요한 일이 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 동영상에서 사람의 얼굴을 검출하고, 눈의 영역이 확인된 이미지를 이용하여 눈의 개폐와 눈동자의 위치를 판단하는 방법을 제시하였다. 색상을 흑백으로 양극화하고 수평화하여 이미지를 정규화한 후, 눈가의 수평, 수직의 모서리 점들을 파악하여 측정치를 얻어낸다. 이를 통하여 눈의 개폐와 눈동자의 위치를 판단한다. 동영상에서 얻어낸 임의의 52개의 눈 이미지를 실험대상으로 처리하여 눈의 개폐를 98% 검출하고 95%의 정확도로 눈동자 위치를 판단하는 실험결과를 얻었다.

The fibrous raw materials in packaging-grade paper production in Korea were mainly obtained from waste paper. The use of recycled paper has both positive and negative impacts in papermaking process. The primary positive impacts are the environmental protection and manufacturing cost reduction, and the negative impacts are the quality reduction in paper quality and the accumulation of heavy metals and other pollutants in wet- and dry-end process. This study was carried out to consider the optimum acid decomposition system with the highest recovery rate for the analysis of heavy metals in packaging-grade paper. The open digestion system using Kjeldahl apparatus and the closed digestion system using microwave oven for decomposing the organic materials in paper were compared. In both open and closed digestion method, the combination of nitric acid, hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide showed higher recovery rate than using only nitric acid alone because the presence of Cl- ions in hydrochloric acid stabilizes ligand formation with metal ions. KOCC was observed to have the highest heavy metal content among the recycled paper samples. The heavy metal contents decomposed with the closed digestion system were relatively higher than with open digestion system.

Objective To investigate the effect of treadmill training with eyes open (TEO) and closed (TEC) on the knee joint position sense (JPS), functional balance and mobility in children with spastic diplegia. Methods Forty-five children with spastic diplegia aged 11-13 years participated in this study. They were randomly assigned to three groups of equal number. The control group (CON) underwent designed physical therapy program whereas, the study groups (TEO and TEC) underwent the same program, in addition to treadmill gait training with eyes open and closed, respectively. Outcome measures were the degree of knee joint position error, functional balance and mobility. Measurements were taken before and after 12 weeks of intervention. Results After training, the three groups showed statistically significant improvement in all measured outcomes, compared to the baseline with non-significant change in the knee JPS in the CON group. When comparing posttreatment results, the TEC group showed greater significant improvement in all measured outcomes, than the TEO and CON groups. Conclusion Treadmill training with eyes open and closed is effective in rehabilitation of children with diplegia, but blocked vision treadmill training has more beneficial effect.

In the treatment of mandibular condyle fracture, conservative treatment using closed reduction or surgical treatment using open reduction can be used. Management of mandibular condylar fractures remains a source of ongoing controversy in oral and maxillofacial trauma. For each type of condylar fracture,the treatment method must be chosen taking into consideration the presence of teeth, fracture height, patient'sadaptation, patient's masticatory system, disturbance of occlusal function, and deviation of the mandible. In the past, closed reduction with concomitant active physical therapy conducted after intermaxillary fixation during the recovery period had been mainly used, but in recent years, open treatment of condylar fractures with rigid internal fixation has become more common. The objective of this review was to evaluate the main variables that determine the choice of an open or closed method for treatment of condylar fractures, identifying their indications, advantages, and disadvantages, and to appraise the current evidence regarding the effectiveness of interventions that are used in the management of fractures of the mandibular condyle.

MSDS 자료의 적정성을 고찰하기 위해 크실렌 이성질체에 대해 Pensky-Martens 밀폐식(ASTM D93), Setaflash 밀폐식(ASTM D3278), Tag 개방식(ASTM D1310), Cleveland 개방식(ASTM D92) 장치 등을 이용하여 인화점을 측정하였으며, 또한 최소자연발화온도는 ASTM E659-78장치를 사용하여 측정하고, 문헌값들과 한국산업안전보건공단의 MSDS 자료와 비교하였다. 그 결과, 측정된 인화점과 최소자연발화온도는 이들과 차이를 나타내어 안전의 목적을 위해 연소특성치 고찰이 필요함을 알 수 있었다.

The concept of "almost invertibility modulo closed ideals" in L(X, Y) was introduced, implicitly, by Robin Harte [1, Theorem 3.9.5]. The aims of this note are to make the formal definition of "almost left and right invertible modulo closed ideals" operators and show that they form open sets.they form open sets.
