  • Online search has recently become a popular business research field not only because the search volume is used to predict demand, but also consumer search history is effective to predict product prices and investment returns. This study analyzes the relationship between the Internet search volume of IPO stocks and their post-IPO stock returns in Korean Exchange. We find that the lower the amount of Internet search for stocks before IPO, the higher the stock returns after IPO both in short and long-term. Similar results are shown for excess returns over benchmark stocks. This finding suggests that IPO stocks with low investors' attention based on the Internet search volume may be undervalued.

  • In a wireless sensor network (WSN) setting, this paper presents a distributed decision-making framework and illustrates its application in an online structural health monitoring (SHM) system. The objective is to recover a damage severity vector, which identifies, localizes, and quantifies damages in a structure, via distributive and collaborative decision-making among wireless sensors. Observing the fact that damages are generally scarce in a structure, this paper develops a nonlinear 0-norm minimization formulation to recover the sparse damage severity vector, then relaxes it to a linear and distributively tractable one. An optimal algorithm based on the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) and a heuristic distributed linear programming (DLP) algorithm are proposed to estimate the damage severity vector distributively. By limiting sensors to exchange information among neighboring sensors, the distributed decision-making algorithms reduce communication costs, thus alleviate the channel interference and prolong the network lifetime. Simulation results in monitoring a steel frame structure prove the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

  • Hepatitis B core antigen(HBcAg) is an important serological marker used in the diagnosis of hepatitis B virus(HBV) infections. In the current study, a fast and efficient preparative purification protocol for truncated HBcAg from Escherichia coli disruptate was developed. The recombinant HBcAg was first captured by anion exchange expanded bed adsorption chromatography integrated with a cell disruption process. This online capture process has shortened the process time and eliminated the "hold-up" period that may be detrimental to the quality of target protein. The eluted product from the expanded bed adsorption chromatography was subsequently purified using size-exclusion chromatography. The results showed that this novel purification protocol achieved a recovery yield of 45.1% with a product purity of 88.2%, which corresponds to a purification factor of 4.5. The recovered HBcAg is still biologically active as shown by ELISA test.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop and test a conceptual model of purchase intentions, positive emotion, and e-servicescape that is defined as the online environment factors that exist during service delivery. Survey research method was used to gather data regarding consumers' perceptions of e-servicescape. Surveys were administered to 681 college students who experienced purchasing fashion products on the Internet. The results showed that e-servicescapes perceived by fashion consumers were composed of three dimensions: (1) Aesthetic appeal, (2) Ambient conditions, and (3) Layout & functionality. These dimensions of e-servicescape influenced consumers to lead positive emotions and purchase intentions. Additionally, positive emotions constituted a key variable for the purchase intention of fashion products during online exchange. The study revealed that consumers' interpretations of online environments exerted a powerful influence over positive emotion and purchase intentions. Also, it strongly endorsed the view that the purchase intentions of customers were linked to the extent to which they feel positive emotions by the e-service provider. This study provides insights into how consumers' interpretations of e-servicescape affect their subsequent positive emotions and ultimately their intentions to purchase. The findings of this study also have numerous implications for both services managers and internet developers related to fashion products.

  • With the development of information and communication technology and spread of smart devices, online information exchange has become a daily routine. Accordingly, the management and utilization of online word of mouth (WOM) has become an important issue for companies. Numerous studies have examined the impact of online WOM on firm performance. This study analyzes the impact of negative word of mouth (NWOM) on firm value, considering the influence of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity and research and development (R&D) investment. Using a hierarchical linear model, we find that 1) NWOM has a negative impact on firm value, 2) CSR activities do not significantly influence this impact, and 3) R&D investment reduces this negative impact. This study contributes by demonstrating the effect of NWOM on firm value, examining the influence of CSR activities and R&D investment on the impact of NWOM, and confirming that the hierarchical linear model can be applied effectively to panel data in empirical studies. As a practical implication, companies must prevent and manage NWOM, whose impact, when caused by an unavoidable incident, can be alleviated by proactively announcing that the company is striving for competitiveness, for instance, by investing in R&D.

  • P2P implies direct exchange between peers. If you have something I want, 1 go directly to you and obtain il. There is one of the most advantages of formation of community in P2P. For a specified purpose through P2P, the Peers who make temporary a group delivery a request efficient and safe. And the resources can be jointed common, cooperation and communication. When P2P is developed more, we can expect more formation of online community and development. But to be a safe of personal ID and password in internet, it should be possible to make a key-exchange. In the paper, it suggest P2P security system suitable to personal security that Kerberos be transformed. The user who make community in P2P, have Kerberos Server, and using Physical Address of Ethernet card in personal computer, authenticate users.

  • Nowadays, client-to-client applications such as online chat (e.g. MSN) and SMS (Short Message Services) are becoming increasingly prevalent. These client-to-client applications are revolutionizing the way we communicate. Three-party PAKE (password authenticated key exchange) protocols provide a means for the two communicating parties holding passwords to establishment a secure channel between them with the help of a common server. In this paper, we propose an efficient three-party PAKE protocol for the client-to-client applications, which has much better performance than the existing generic constructions. We also show that the proposed protocol is secure in a formal security model.

  • This study is about an interface design supporting collaborative learning activities in online environment in which people exchange their knowledge and give feedback on personal storytelling to each other. Interface design issues from the viewpoint of Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) on digital media design are considered. Based on collaborative learning theories and analysis on the existing online collaborative sites about digital media, such as online forums for digital pictures and films, interface guidelines are suggested and the interface is designed. The interface design is evaluated through a pilot test. The interface for collaborative learning on personal storytelling is designed to support observation and to provide a scaffolding for valuable conversation. It is also designed to help intersubjectivity of online conversation and an easy access to media.

  • This study aimed to examine the impact of internal communication(IC) on collaborative performance(CP) and organizational effectiveness(OE), and the moderating effect of online communication tools. First, IE and RS, ISI, RS, and COMN had a significant impact on ISI, Perf, respectively. The all factors of CP affected JS and OC. Second, IE, COMN, and RS influenced OC through CC and Perf. Third, online cooperative tools for collaboration have been moderated between RS and ISI, CoW and CC, IE and Perf, Perf and JS, repectively- IE(Infromation Exchange), CoW(Collaboration Work), Communication(COMN), Relationship(RS), Information Sharing Intention(ISI), CC(Collaboration Culture), Perf(Performance), JS(job satisfactino), and OC(Organization Commiment). These results could provide one implication for the establishment and utilization of online communication collaboration tools that take into account internal communication components within the organization.
