  • Mobile devices have become the most influential media platform. Mobile advertising has thus grown much faster than any other type of advertising. This study is designed to examine antecedents of attitude toward mobile ads, antecedents such as irritation, personalization, and online information privacy concerns. The study also examines consumers' attitudes toward mobile ads as an antecedent of mobile advertising acceptance. Study findings suggest that irritation is not a statistically significant predictor of attitude toward mobile ads. An antecedent found to be positively related to attitude toward mobile ads is personalization and one found to be negatively related is online privacy concerns. Finally, consumers' attitudes toward mobile ads are found to be positively related to a general acceptance of mobile advertising. Practical implications are discussed.

  • The selection of keywords for bidding is a critical component of paid search advertising. When the number of possible keywords is enormous, it becomes difficult to choose the best keywords for advertising and then subsequently to assess their effect. To this end, we propose an ultrahigh dimensional keyword selection approach that not only reduces the dimension for selections, but also generates the top listed keywords for profits. An empirical analysis using a unique panel dataset from a large online clothes retailer that advertises on the largest search engine in China (i.e., Baidu) is presented to illustrate the usefulness of our approach.

  • Keyword advertising has been used as a promotion tool rather than the advertising itself to online retailers. This is because the online retailer expects the direct sales increase when they deploy the keyword sponsorship. In practice, many online sellers rely on keyword advertising to promote their sales in short term with limited budget. Most of the previous researches use direct revenue factors as dependent variables such as CTR (click through rate) and CVI (conversion per impression) in their researches on the keyword advertising[14, 16, 22, 25, 31, 32]. Previous studies were, however, conducted in the context of aggregate-level due to the limitations on the data availability. These researches cannot evaluate the performance of keyword advertising in the individual level. To overcome these limitations, our research focuses on conversion of keyword advertising in individual-level. Also, we consider manageable factors as independent variables in terms of online retailers (the costs of keyword by implementation methods and meanings of keyword). In our study we developed the keyword advertising conversion model in the individual-level. With our model, we can make some theoretical findings and managerial implications. Practically, in the case of a fixed cost plan, an increase of the number of clicks is revealed as an effective way. However, higher average CPC is not significantly effective in increasing probability of purchase conversion. When this type (fixed cost plan) of implementation could not generate a lot of clicks, it cannot significantly increase the probability of purchase choice. Theoretically, we consider the promotional attributes which influence consumer purchase behavior and conduct individuals-level research based on the actual data. Limitations and future direction of the study are discussed.

  • As the media environment changes rapidly, the size of the online advertising market is growing rapidly. However, consumer's trustfulness in online advertising is much lower than that of old media, and there is also a phenomenon of advertising avoidance. Thus, in this study, advertising skepticism, advertising appeals, involvement, and FCB Grid theory were used to provide Youtube and advertisers with implications for advertising strategies. It was intended to provide a way to lower consumer advertising avoidance. As a result of Research 1, consumers with high advertising avoidance showed low advertising attitudes, brand attitudes, and attitudes toward products. In addition, there was no difference in gender, and when the frequency of online video viewing decreased and the age increased, advertising avoidance increased. Research 2 shows that consumers with high levels of advertising skepticism showed a high level of advertising attitude when the level of involvement was low and transformational appeal was high. In the FCB Grid model, consumers with high levels of advertising skepticism are found to be suitable for transformational appeal advertising. These results mean that Youtube and advertisers should think important about advertising skepticism, which is the cause of advertising avoidance, and that consumers with high levels of advertising skepticism should be presented with advertisements suitable for each type of product in the online advertising market.

  • Purpose: One of the characteristics of service companies such as foodservice franchise is that it is easy to imitate, so many brands can imitate the menu that is popular with consumers. Therefore, foodservice franchise company should develop a brand that customers can identify from other brands in order differentiate it from its competitors. In order make the foodservice franchise company identifiable from other brands, it is possible through communication with customers. Therefore, this study proposes a new research model to analyze customer loyalty through online advertising and online word of mouth trust and immersion. Online was provided to customers through a mixture of advertisements and word of mouth, but previous studies have only considered online advertisements or online word of mouth. In addition, we want to verify the difference according to gender, which is an important variable in researching the online information processing behavior of customers. Research design, data, and methodology: The questionnaire of this study was surveyed on 20 years of age or older who have visited the restaurant franchise store within the last 3 months among the foodservice franchise companies operating SNS. During the survey period, 400 surveys were surveyed for a total of 20 days from April 1 to April 20, 2020. Result: The research results are as follows. First, in this study, the effect of online advertisement and online word of mouth on trust and immersion was studied. Second, this study verified the social influence theory in online advertising and online word of mouth. Third, the effect of online advertising and online word of mouth on loyalty according to gender was verified. Fourth, compared to existing advertisements, online advertisements are suitable for marketing by foodservice franchise companies because they can interact with consumers, modify advertisements immediately, execute extensive advertisements at low cost, segment the market, and measure advertisement effectiveness. The recent online expansion has been expanded to mobile-based, allowing foodservice franchisees to provide new communication services such as SMS (Short Message Service), multimedia messaging services, and location-based services. Fifth, a foodservice franchise company can increase brand awareness through online marketing or induce the use of offline stores. Sixth, franchisor can grow into a sustainable company only when they use resources efficiently. Conclusions: Trust is important in foodservice franchise information. • Objectives: Tobacco marketing encourages smoking initiation of non-smokers, especially adolescents, and it hinders quit intention of those who smoke or who attempt to quit smoking. Article 13 of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control(WHO FCTC) requests a comprehensive ban on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship(TAPS). Ratified the Convention in 2005, Korea has partially implemented the provisions. However, online marketing regulations are still insufficient. Methods: Based on relevant national and international regulations, this research designed monitoring mechanism for online tobacco marketing and studied 1,404 websites to identify current situation of online sales and advertisement of tobacco in Korea. Results: This study found that online trade of tobacco products are overtly conducted, while tobacco advertising with flavoring and misleading descriptors are also prevalent. Also, online tobacco marketing facilitate adolescents' access to tobacco product and that advertising and promotion activities lead to tobacco purchase without difficulties. Conclusions: Fundamental solution to prevent online tobacco advertisement and promotion is banning online sales of tobacco and conducting a regular monitoring for compliance. Korean government should consider establishing an official surveillance system for online tobacco advertisement, followed by a comprehensive ban on TAPS to fulfill its obligation as a Party to the FCTC.

  • Beyond the simple keyword matching methods in contextual advertising, we propose a rich contextual matching (CM) model adopting a classification method for topic targeting and a query expansion method for semantic ad matching. This letter reports on an investigation into the empirical effects of the CM model by comparing the click-through rates (CTRs) of two practical online news advertising systems. Based on the evaluation results from over 100 million impressions, we prove that the average CTR of our proposed model outperforms that of a traditional model.

  • This paper is to analyse empirically using the data collected from Korea portal Naver's ad management system and show online ad platform may not be two-sided market. It is aim of this study to propose the appropriate approach to define the market, based on the empirical result. Here are two research questions to be reviewed. First, is there any consistency between business model of search advertising and definition of two-sided market which Rochet-Tirole proposed in 2006? Second, do indirect network externalities exist significantly in search advertising market? if so, this study is going to estimate the level of it through empirical measurement. Based on Luchetta's paper which suggested that google may be one-sided market, it performed the correlation & regression analysis to prove his suggestion. The result is that online search advertising costs increased by more than 50 won when advertisers increased by one unit. However, there was no significant correlation and regression between the search frequency and online search advertising cost. It means that there is little possibility to identify two-sidedness in online search advertising service(market) because of no(or little) indirect network externalities which are a necessary condition for two-sided market. This result has three implications, such as the availability to adapt traditional market definition tools to online search advertising market, the possibility enhancement to find the fundamental competition elements in defined market and promotion of the powers of persuasion in competitive market reality. It is significant that the gap between legal scholars including regulatory practitioners and economists can be overcome to some extent. who have shown the different perspective on the two-sided market.

  • As data grows rapidly, the provision of appropriate information needed by individuals has become an area of new services, and customized services which is enabling the analysis of optimal services through collecting, storing, and analyzing personal data are emerging in many fields. However, due to the characteristics of customized services based on various information collected by customers during the use of the service, the problem of privacy infringement is raised at the same time, and many studies are being actively conducted to solve this problem. This study seeks to explore how the customer's in-depth and customized services has an impact on their customers, which has not been derived from quantitative research using the grounded theory methodology. Through this, 84 concepts, 33 subcategories, 13 Categories and paradigm models were derived. In addition, 'Understanding and acceptance of online behavioral advertising (OBA)' was derived as a core category, and finally, acceptance types of OBA were classified into 'positive acceptance type', 'indifferent type', 'calculating type', and 'active resistance type' based on the key categories. This study divides the acceptance types of online behavioral advertising through the emotions and behaviors of the consumers throughout the procedure of online behavioral advertising experiences. In addition to the statistical and quantitative information currently used for providing behavioral advertising, it provides new criteria to reflect the refinement of behavioral advertising and personal tendencies or characteristics.

  • This study aimed to examine the effect of ad attributes on engagement, the mediating effect of engagement on the relationship between ad attributes and advertising effectiveness (attitudes toward ads, continuous intention to search, and e-WOM intention), and the differences in advertising effectiveness at different levels (low vs. high) of curiosity toward fashion video ads in the online context. For this purpose, a total of 408 responses were collected from consumers who were aged 20-40 years and had viewed fashion video ads via PC/mobile channels in the preceding six months. The results showed that three advertising attributes, namely informativeness, entertainment, and personalization, were significant predictors of engagement. Additionally, engagement had a significant mediating effect on the relationship between entertainment and ad effectiveness. Moreover, both informativeness and entertainment had a significant direct effect on the behavioral intention to search and engage in e-WOM. At the high-curiosity level, engagement had a significant influence on ad attitudes and e-WOM intention. In contrast, at the low-curiosity level, entertainment had a significant influence on e-WOM intention and continuous intention to search. These findings are meaningful in that they extend the advertising attitude model to fashion video ads in the online context.
