  • The purpose of this study is to investigate correlation between experience of visiting the dentist and oral symptoms with 10,701 high school seniors in the research data of the 8th juvenile online health behavior carried out in 2012. The results of this research showed that the lower academic grades, the more tooth crack they experienced, and the lower economic conditions, the more toothache they tended to experience. The main reasons they visited the dentist were because their teeth ached, tingled or throbbed with pain. Scores of oral symptoms, sex, economic conditions and the number of experience of visiting the dentist were found to have a significant correlation. In order to improve high school students' dental health continually, we need to install the school dental health room and need to systemize continuous dental health care system for high school students, along with development of various school dental health education programs, by vitalizing prevention based school dental health education.

  • This study designed and implemented a query model for consecutive analyses of dynamic multivariate graph data. First, the query model consists of two procedures; setting the discriminant function, and determining an alteration method. Second, the query model was implemented as a query system that consists of a query panel, a graph visualization panel, and a property panel. A Node-Link Diagram and the Force-Directed Graph Drawing algorithm were used for the visualization of the graph. The results of the queries are visually presented through the graph visualization panel. Finally, this study used the data of worldwide import & export data of small arms to verify our model. The significance of this research is in the fact that, through the model which is able to conduct consecutive analyses on dynamic graph data, it helps overcome the limitations of previous models which can only perform discrete analysis on dynamic data. This research is expected to contribute to future studies such as online decision making and complex network analysis, that use dynamic graph models.

  • Similarity computation is very crucial to performance of memory-based collaborative filtering systems. These systems make use of user ratings to recommend products to customers in online commercial sites. For better recommendation, most similar users to the active user need to be selected for their references. There have been numerous similarity measures developed in literature, most of which suffer from data sparsity or cold start problems. This paper intends to extract preference information as much as possible from user ratings to compute more reliable similarity even in a sparse data condition, as compared to previous similarity measures. We propose a new similarity measure which relies not only on user ratings but also on movie genre information provided by the dataset. Performance experiments of the proposed measure and previous relevant measures are conducted to investigate their performance. As a result, it is found that the proposed measure yields better or comparable achievements in terms of major performance metrics.

  • Purpose: This study was to develop and verify the effects of drug misuse and abuse preventive program for middle school students. Methods:This research was a quasi experimental study under the nonequivalent control group with pretest-post test design which tried to protect children from the detrimental effect of drugs and develop a drug abuse prevention program for middle school students. Data was collected from October 10th to 21th, 2005. Subject consisted of 145 middle school students in Kyeonggi, experimental group-72, control group-73. Dick & Carey's(1996) educational system was applied, based on documents and materials online related to drug abuse in order to develop drug abuse prevention program. It's composed of 4 parts, 45 minute each. The evaluation instrument testing for the knowledge about drugs was a criterion of referenced test items modeled by Dick & Carey. The instrument for attitudes about drugs was modeled by Kim, Soyaja. A pre-test was taken on the knowledge and attitudes to drugs. The experimental students were given four sessions of drug abuse prevention education. A post-test similar to the pre-test questionnaire was given in 1 week, 4 weeks following the last session. Collected data was analyzed by using SAS 9.1 program. Results:Followings are the summarized result of study 1. The experimental group, that attended the drug abuse prevention program will have more knowledgable about drugs than the control group (F=27.31, p<.0001). 2. The experimental group, that attended the drug abuse prevention program displayed greater negativism attitude than the control group (F=0.58, p=0.4477). Conclusion:The results conclude that drug abuse prevention programs increase the knowledge of middle school students but doesn't change their attitude toward drugs. Therefore we need to offer them more systematic education to increase their knowledge so it will also improve their attitudes as well.

  • This research is to analyze the public cases of information facilities in terms of central circulations in multi level volumes such as atrium or court which provide visual intervention between different spaces and physical connections such as bridges. Hunt Library design balances the understood pre-existing needs with the University's emerging needs to create a forward-thinking learning environment. While clearly a contemporary structure within a traditional context of the NCSU campus, the Hunt Library provides a positive platform for influencing its surroundings. Both technical and programmatic innovations are celebrated as part of the learning experience and provide a versatile and stimulating environment for students. Public library as open spaces connecting to an interactive social domain over communities can provide variety of learning environments, or technology based labs. There are many cases of the public information spaces with dynamic networks where participants can play their roles in physical space as well as in the intellectual stimulation. In the research, new public projects provide typologies of information spaces with user oriented media. The research is to address a creative transition between the reading space and the experimental links of the integration of state-of-the-art technology is highly visible in the building's design. The user-friendly browsing system that replaces the traditional browsing with the virtual shelves classified and archived by their form, is to reduce the storage space of the public library and it is to allow more space for collaborative learning. In addition to the intelligent robot of information storages, innovative features is the large-scale visualization space that supports team experiments to carry out collaborative online works and therefore the public library's various programs is to provide visitors with more efficient participatory environment.

  • This study is a descriptive survey study for nurses in general hospitals to understand the effects of self-leadership, self-efficacy, and organizational commitment on safety management activities. The subjects of the study were nurses at three general hospitals located in G City. An online survey was conducted in consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Data collection was from August 20 to August 30, 2021. As a result of the study, self-leadership (r=.618, p<.001), self-efficacy (r=306, p<.001), organizational immersion (r=0518, p<.001) showed a positive correlation with safety management activities. In addition, self-leadership, self-efficacy, and organizational commitment explained 38.2% of safety management activities (F=20.478, p<.001). Therefore, it would be helpful to provide regular leadership education and self-efficacy education to increase patient management activities of general hospital nurses. In addition, if a positive work environment, legal standards for nurse work, and an appropriate compensation system are established to improve organizational commitment, it will have a positive effect on environmental safety management activities.

  • Due to COVID-19, much research has been conducted on learning loss and educational gaps due to the postponement of the start of school and prolonged online distance learning, and most of the research has focused on the phenomenon of educational gaps. If a pandemic situation like this occurs in the future, fundamental policies are needed to resolve the educational gap. A fundamental solution requires not only an understanding of the educational gap phenomenon, but also the structure behind the phenomenon. Therefore, from a structuralist perspective, this study sought to model the educational gap caused by COVID-19 as a prototype of systems thinking and identify its structure. In addition, we looked at the unintended consequences resulting from policies aimed at resolving existing educational gaps. In order to respond to similar disaster situations in the future, policies for resolving the digital gap, support for basic academic skills, quality improvement for distance learning, and self-directed learning were discussed based on the structure of this study.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine middle school students' environmental worldviews, focusing on the following: 'Technocentric (TC)', 'Ecocentric (EC)', and 'Sustainable Development (SD)' environmental worldviews. The instrument surveying the worldviews of middle school students comprised two components: 'natural environment' and 'human action & environment'. The 'natural environment' component consisted of four categories. These were the value of humans in nature, the value of natural environments, nature reigned by humans, and the equilibrium sustaining power of environmental ecosystems. The 'human action & environment' component also consisted of four categories. These were the depletion of energy & resources, technology development, economic growth, and the severity of environmental problems. The subjects were 376 middle school students (152 males and 224 females), who were selected from 10 middle schools, and they answered question items by themselves through an online survey system. They displayed more 'Sustainable Development environmental worldviews' and 'Ecocentric environmental worldviews' than 'Technocentric environmental worldviews'. Furthermore, the female students displayed more 'Sustainable Development environmental worldviews' than the males. Hence, it is necessary to implement educational approaches that address and relate to the sustainable development environmental worldviews of middle school students.

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship nursing personal and workplace system factors (work disability) and work ability index scores in Ontario, Canada. Methods: A total of 111 registered nurses were randomly selected from the total number of registered nurses on staff in the labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum areas of four northeastern Ontario hospitals. Using a stratified random design approach, 51 participants were randomly selected in four northeastern Ontario cities. Results: A total of 51 (45.9% response rate) online questionnaires were returned and another 60 (54.1% response rate) were completed using the paper format. The obstetric workforce in northeastern Ontario was predominately female (94.6%) with a mean age of 41.9 (standard deviation = 10.2). In the personal systems model, three variables: marital status (p = 0.025), respondent ethnicity (p = 0.026), and mean number of patients per shift (p = 0.049) were significantly contributed to the variance in work ability scores. In the workplace system model, job and career satisfaction (p = 0.026) had a positive influence on work ability scores, while work absenteeism (p = 0.023) demonstrated an inverse relationship with work ability scores. In the combined model, all the predictors were significantly related to work ability scores. Conclusion: Work ability is closely related to job and career satisfaction, and perceived control at work among obstetric nursing. In order to improve work ability, nurses need to work in environments that support them and allow them to be engaged in the decision-making processes.
