Uroflowmetry is a non-invasive and easily performed method to diagnose the benign prostate hypertrophy(BPH) which is frequently found in the aged men. There are some manufactures to provide a diagnosis tool for the benign prostate hypertrophy. Conventional products, however, render only the result of parameters related with prostate hypertrophy, not additional information such as the uroflowmetry variation and related personal information. In this paper, we developed an effective system for feature extraction of prostate hypertrophy as well as online program for wireless networked database management which can be used under ubiquitous environments and Labview based Window program.

Forty-seven wild accessions of Lotus japonicus Regal (Japanese trefoil) indigenous to Japan were investigated for nine morphological characters. Average temperature and annual precipitation were negatively correlated with stem color and seed weight. On the other hand, latitude was positively correlated with these traits. Consequently, accessions from sites at higher latitudes with low temperatures and precipitation tend to have dark red stems and heavy seeds. Cluster analysis based on nine morphological characters classified 47 wild accessions into six major groups. Cluster I included four accessions of tall and erect plants. These plants are phenotypically similar to commercial variety 'Empire'. Cluster II consisted of three accessions of creep plants with pale red stems. Cluster III contained 24 accessions that had average values for all morphological characters evaluated. Cluster IV included two accessions of erect plants with rounded leaflets and dark red stems. Cluster V included four accessions of small, creep plants with pale red stems. Cluster VI included seven accessions of small and erect plants, a phenotype that also applies to ?Gifu B-129?, which is used as experimental strain worldwide. These data were deposited into LegumeBase, an online database (http://www.legumebase.brc.miyazaki-u.ac.jp/) supported by the National BioResource Project (NBRP) in Japan.

Medical researcher can access medical literature article system at www and then access holding data and they can use interlibrary loan system in online. The object of this total system is that medical researcher as well as medical librarian can easily retrive medical literature and gain original article.

The information Retrieval Protocol, Z39.50 is applied to the shared cataloging gateway. The history and functions of the Z39.50 are reviewed and the characteristics and the database update service of Z39.50 are taken into account in the notion of the shared cataloging. And for the test, one of the domestic on-line shared cataloging systems is adopted and newly remodelled using Z39.50 protocol. Two kinds of Z39.50 shared cataloging gateway models (th centralized shared cataloging gateway model and the distributed shared cataloging gateway model) are operated in Web server.

The advent of the Internet and the enormous increase in volume of electronically stored information (SGML, Image, Sound, etc.) has led to substantial work on IR(Information Retrieval). To service on the WWW, construction and retrieval technology of SGML, which is the fundamental standard data format for CALS/EC, is needed specially. Due to such a change, it becomes essential to change the existing paradigm of conventional information retrieval systems and to adopt new Internet service system with search engine, SGML browser and advanced Internet technology on WWW. KIPRIS(Korea Industrial Property Rights Information Service), which is the specialized and integrated Internet service systems in the field of industrial property rights information service, is trying to be a guide for our country to establish its technological competitiveness with providing the online service of high quality. The objective of the paper identifies features and technologies of KIPRIS IR(Information Retrieval) system based on WWW as follows. First, it describes the development background and process of KIPRIS. Second, it presents a fundamental technology that consists of IR(Information Retrieval) concept, BRS(Bibliographical Retrieval System) search engine, SGML implementation technologies and the Internet/WWW technologies. Third, it provides information about system configuration, architecture, and the features and characteristics of KIPRIS. Finally, the implemented KIPRIS system is introduced.

To reduce the expenses for development a novel drug, systems biology has been studied actively. Target prediction, a part of systems biology, contributes to finding a new purpose for FDA(Food and Drug Administration) approved drugs and development novel drugs. In this paper, we propose a classification model for predicting novel target genes based on relation between target genes and disease related genes. After collecting known target genes from TTD(Therapeutic Target Database) and disease related genes from OMIM(Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man), we analyzed the effect of target genes on disease related genes based on PPI(Protein-Protein Interactions) network. We focused on the distinguishing characteristics between known target genes and random target genes, and used the characteristics as features for building a classifier. Because our model is constructed using information about only a disease and its known targets, the model can be applied to unusual diseases without similar drugs and diseases, while existing models for finding new drug-disease associations are based on drug-drug similarity and disease-disease similarity. We validated accuracy of the model using LOOCV of ten times and the AUCs were 0.74 on Alzheimer's disease and 0.71 on Breast cancer.

In this paper, we developed the online Monitoring & Diagnostic(MD) system of distribution transformers. It consists of the Data Acquisition(DA) module and the DataBase(DB) module. The acquired data from the distribution transformers is stored to the DB in an on-line. The DB is planned and made to the RDBMS (Relative DataBase Management System) to manage the data efficiently. The developed MD system estimates the loss of life from the DB. Thus, it could be managed the career and the functional lifetime of the transformer more efficiently than existing systems. In the case study, the oil temperature rising experiment is performed by using the back loading method in the laboratory level. From the results, the proposed MB system can be a practical applications for the distribution transformers.

In this paper, we propose a portable art therapy content. The proposed content makes counseling clients get a psychical cure at least cost regardless of time and place Counseling clients express their psychological state as pictures through the proposed content. And Counselors analyze and interpret the figures based on the database which is built into the server system. Due to the development of advanced technologies, various adjustment disorders and addictions have increased in the rapidly changing modern society. This causes the increase of counseling clients who want a psychical cure. And also counseling time, counseling place and counseling cost are emerging as a social issues. Psychotherapy specialists use the proposed content at the stage of the psychoanalysis which needs a lot of time and effort. The proposed content exploits the sever system to make the right decisions quickly and accurately. Counseling clients who are the medical underprivileged get visit consultation and online consultation can detect a psychological high-risk in an early stage and prevent this psychological high-risk. Preventive treatment service using the proposed content will make the social and medical cost savings.
