  • To clarify the role of long intergenic nonprotein-coding RNA 1232 (LINC01232) in the progression of gastric cancer and the potential mechanism, we analyzed the expression of LINC01232 in TCGA database using the GEPIA online tool, and the LINC01232 level in gastric cancer cell lines was detected by quantitative real time-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) as well. Cell proliferation assay, colony formation assay, transwell assay and tumor formation experiment in nude mice were conducted to observe the biological behavior changes of gastric cancer cells through the influence of LINC01232 knockdown. LncATLAS database and subcellular isolation assay were used for subcellular distribution of LINC01232 in gastric cancer cells. The interaction among LINC01232, zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) and kruppel-like factor 2 (KLF2) was clarified by RNA-protein interaction prediction (RPISeq), RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP), qRT-PCR and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay. Rescue experiments were further conducted to elucidate the biological function of LINC01232/KLF2 axis in the progression of gastric cancer. LINC01232 was upregulated in stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD) tissues and gastric cancer lines. LINC01232 knockdown inhibited the proliferative capacities of gastric cancer cells in vitro, and impaired in vivo tumorigenicity. LINC01232 was mainly distributed in the cell nucleus where it epigenetically repressed KLF2 expression via binding to the enhancer of EZH2, which was capable of binding to promoter regions of KLF2 to induce histone H3 lysine 27 trimethylation (H3K27me3). LINC01232 exerts oncogenic activities in gastric cancer via inhibition of KLF2, and therefore, the knockdown of KLF2 could reverse the regulatory effect of LINC01232 in the proliferative ability of gastric cancer cells.

  • Nowadays, many attendance applications utilise biometric techniques such as the face, fingerprint, and iris recognition. Biometrics has become ubiquitous in many sectors. Due to the advancement of deep learning algorithms, the accuracy rate of biometric techniques has been improved tremendously. This paper proposes a web-based attendance system that adopts facial recognition using open-source deep learning pre-trained models. Face recognition procedural steps using web technology and database were explained. The methodology used the required pre-trained weight files embedded in the procedure of face recognition. The face recognition method includes two important processes: registration of face datasets and face matching. The extracted feature vectors were implemented and stored in an online database to create a more dynamic face recognition process. Finally, user testing was conducted, whereby users were asked to perform a series of biometric verification. The testing consists of facial scans from the front, right (30 - 45 degrees) and left (30 - 45 degrees). Reported face recognition results showed an accuracy of 92% with a precision of 100% and recall of 90%.

  • The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between self-regulated learning, NLR(non-learning-related) behavior, interaction and flow on satisfaction in database classes. To achieve this purpose, this study proposed a research model consisting of self-regulated learning, NLR behavior, interaction, flow and satisfaction. A survey was conducted to test the research hypotheses, and a total of 122 online questionnaires were obtained and used for the final statistical analysis. The main findings of the analysis are as follows: First, flow was consistently identified as a key determinant of satisfaction. Second, self-regulated learning was found to have a significant effect on flow. Third, NLR behavior and interaction were found to mediate the relationship between self-regulated learning and flow. This study provides insights into the role of NLR behavior and interaction in promoting flow and offers implications for understanding how to promote flow.

  • Background: Invasive alien plant species (IAP) significantly threaten Nepal's protected areas and local communities. Understanding their distribution, impact, management, and utilization is essential for developing effective management strategies and sustainable utilization practices. The systematic literature review of publications from 2010 to 2023. The search was conducted through the database Nepal Journal online database (NepJOL) and Google Scholar, yielding an initial pool of 4,304 publication. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria; we meticulously reviewed 43 articles for data extraction. Results: Seventeen IAP are found in protected area, Nepal with the highest prevalence observed in Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve, followed by Chitwan and Sukhlaphanta National Park. The most problematic species in terrestrial ecosystems are Mikania micrantha, Lantana camara, and Chromolaena odorata. The grassland ecosystems of wildlife habitats, primarily in the Terai and Siwalik regions, are the most invaded. Various management approaches are employed to mitigate the spread and impact of IAP, including mechanical methods such as uprooting, burning, and cutting. However, these methods are costly, and context-specific interventions are needed. The study also explores the potential use of IAP for economic, ecological, or cultural purposes, such as medicinal properties, energy production potential, and economic viability. Local communities utilize these plants for animal bedding, mulching, green manure, briquette, and charcoal production. Conclusions: Applying silvicultural practices alongside mechanical management is recommended to maintain a healthy terrestrial ecosystem and utilize the removed biomass for valuable products, thereby reducing removal costs and increasing income sources, potentially benefitting both local communities and wildlife in protected areas.

  • An analysis model for the dynamics information of two-dimensional time-series patterns is described. In the proposed model, two novel transforms that visualize the dynamic characteristics are proposed. The first transform, referred to as speed equalization, reproduces a time-series pattern assuming a constant linear velocity to effectively model the temporal characteristics of the signing process. The second transform, referred to as velocity transform, maps the signal onto a horizontal vs. vertical velocity plane where the variation oi the velocities over time is represented as a visible shape. With the transforms, the dynamic characteristics in the original signing process are reflected in the shape of the transformed patterns. An analysis in the context of these shapes then naturally results in an effective analysis of the dynamic characteristics. The proposed transform technique is applied to an online signature verification problem for evaluation. Experimenting on a large signature database, the performance evaluated in EER(Equal Error Rate) was improved to 1.17$\%$ compared to 1.93$\%$ of the traditional signature verification algorithm in which no transformed patterns are utilized. In the case of skilled forgery experiments, the improvement was more outstanding; it was demonstrated that the parameter set extracted from the transformed patterns was more discriminative in rejecting forgeries
