  • Objectives : This study was to compare the effect of acupuncture on peripheral facial nerve paralysis between affected part, and unaffected part in the incipient stage. Methods : We investigated 32 cases of patient with peripheral facial nerve paralysis, and divided into two groups. One group was treated by acupuncture on the affected part, and the other was treated by acupuncture on the unaffected part. Both groups were evaluated by Yanagihara's unweighted grading system and House-Backmann grade before treatment, and in every one week and after treatment. Results & Conclusion : 1. The number of female was more than that of male and the number of left side was more than that of right side in distribution of lesion. Post ear pain was the highest related symptom at onset, Unknown was a major cause of peripheral facial nerve paralysis in distribution of cause. 2. Yanagihara's unweighted grading system and House-Backmann grade score between two groups were not statistically significant in every one week. 3. Yanagihara's unweighted grading system and House-Backmann grade score between two groups were not statistically significant in before treatment and final.

  • Surgical anatomy for Asian rhinoplasty Part I reviewed layered anatomy with neurovascular system of the nose. Part II discusses upper two-thirds of nose which consists of nasal bony and cartilaginous structures. Nasal physiology is mentioned briefly since there are several key structures that are important in nasal function. Following Part III will cover lower one-third of nose including in-depth anatomic structures which are important for advanced Asian rhinoplasty.

  • In this paper, we propose a fuzzy iterative learning controller(FILC). It can control fully unknown dynamic plants through iterative learning. To design learning controllers based on the steepest descent method, it is one of the difficult problems to identify the change of plant output with respect to the change of control input(.part.e/.part.u). To solve this problem, we propose a method as follows: first, calculate .part.e/.part.u using a similarity measure and information in consecutive time steps, then adjust the fuzzy logic controller(FLC) using the sign of .part.e/.part..u. As learning process is iterated, the value of .part.e/.part.u is reinforced. Proposed FILC has the simple architecture compared with previous other controllers. Computer simulations for an inverted pendulum system were conducted to verify the performance of the proposed FILC.

  • In semiconductor industry, it is expected that plasma process which use 450 mm source will be used at next generation. However, main obstacle of the large area plasma source is plasma uniformity from it. When electrode is enlarged, field difference between center area and side area reduces the plasma uniformity [1-3]. Therefore we investigate multi-electrode which diminish this field difference. We designed two multi-electrode models. One has two segments and the other has five segments. Each multi-electrode model is connected with two power generator and two matchers. One generator and one matcher is connected with center electrode part. The other one generator and the other one matcher is connected with side electrode part. The ion density is measured at 29 points by using floating harmonic method [4-6]. After measuring the data of each multi-electrode model, we discuss the difference of profile between two models' data.

  • Hot Press Forming (HPF), an advanced sheet forming method in which a high strength part can be produced by forming at high temperature and rapid cooling in dies, is one of the most successful forming process in producing components with complex geometric shape, high strength and a minimum of springback. In order to obtain effectively and accurately numerical finite element simulations of the actual HPF process, the flow stress of a boron steel in the austenitic state at elevated temperatures has been investigated with Gleeble system. To evaluate the formability of the thermo- mechanical material characteristics in the HPF process, the FLDo defined at the lowest point in the forming limit diagrams of a boron steel has been investigated. In addition, the simulation results of thermo-mechanical coupled analysis of an automobile one-piece lower-arm part are compared with the experimental ones to confirm the validity of the proposed simulations.

  • In Korea, only a few wooden pagodas are extant because some wooden pagodas were lost due to artificial environment like war. Fortunately, only Eight Depictions Hall(Palsangjeon) in Beobjusa temple and main hall of Ssang-Bong Sa the main temple are extant. Though main hall of Ssang-Bong Sa the main temple shows old style in construction and outstanding creativity, survey and investigation for the hall have been poor. Accordingly, this study investigated pillar part, bracket structure part, and roof part composing pagoda body section which actively reflects structure and design skill compared to floor or upper part. And for better understanding, in the part that is similar to pagoda body section of main hall or needs examples, wooden pagoda in China or Japan was referred. Through this investigation, it was known that unique skill applied to main hall of Ssang-Bong Sa the main temple is based on plane in one room ${\times}$ one room - Ssang-Bong Sa the main temple has common form of wooden pagoda in appearance.

  • This study investigates the durability of strut bar at car through structural and fatigue analyses. In this study, there are model 1 and model 2 as the analysis subjects. Model 1 is the existed one and model 2 is the improved one added with the reinforced part. Model 1 has the maximum equivalent stress of 165.11 MPa shown intensively at the welding part between the bracket and the bar. This stress is distributed over at the part of model 2 reinforced with this part. In case of fatigue analysis, there are three kinds of fatigue load as SAE bracket history, SAE transmission and sample history. The maximum fatigue life at SAE bracket history among three kinds of fatigue loads has the least value of $3.3693{\times}10^5$ cycles. The maximum fatigue life of model 2 becomes longer than that of model 1. As model 2 has the fatigue damage less than model 1, model 2 has the safety than model 1. As the fatigue durability about the configuration of strut bar is analyzed, it is thought to apply this study result into the real part effectively.

  • The first part of this thesis discusses the types and the properties of errors, one of which makes up systematic errors of measurements, removable by detecting their causes, the other errors of accidental causes which can not be removed. The final part of this thesis deals with the historical background of the Gaussian distribution by Hershel, Hagen, Laplace and Gauss from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It can be concluded that the accidental idea and the treatment of accidental error distribution by Gauss Is the best one based on the assumption that the most probable value of true value is the arithmetic mean of data, obtained by repeated measurements of a given quantity.

  • As a continuation of part I, this paper deals with the classification of phytoplankton species collected from Chawol-do, Soya-do Pung-do of Kyonggi-Bay. One hundred and fortythree kinds of photoplankton from this area were identified and classified by Engler's system into 17 families, 47 genera, 129 species, 10 varieties and 4 forms, blonging to 2 phyla, 3 classes, 3 subclasses, 8 orders and 1 suborder. 3 families, 7 genera, 10 species, 3 varieties and 3 forms are added. To the list published in part I. Seven species and one form described in this paper are new to Korea.

  • We developed a Part Information Brokering System, namely PIBS, that can inter-link part suppliers and buyers using WWW(World Wide Web). The major contribution of this paper is that the system provides a 3D collaboration environment that enables multiple users to share the same workspace where they cooperatively manipulate part features in real time. PIBS carries out two major functions: one to maintain part data in a part library, and the other to provide the means for the clients to cooperate. An object-oriented database is used for the part library which stores apart information registered by part suppliers. VRML(Virtual Reality Modeling Language) the ISO standard for 3D visualization on WWW, is used to represent 3D part models. Several Java programs have been implemented to support synchronous and a synchronous communication of the 3D models. Once the users are interconnected through the system, a user's manipulation of part objects is transparently and instantaneously transmitted to the others. This means that all the participants can are the same view and movement of the 3D part models. Since the system is developed using a Java applet-server architecture, it requires no additional software other than standard web browser. The prototype system has been successfully implemented, and demonstrated its applicability to virtual 3D part information sharing.
