  • It is an interest problem to predict substance distributions in three-dimensional space. Recently, a research field as Geostatistics is advanced. It is a kind of inter- or extrapolation mathematically. Some useful means for the inter- and extrapolation are known, in which slide window method with neural networks is hopeful one. We propose multi-dimensional extrapolation using multi-layer neural networks and the slide-window method. The multi-dimensional extrapolation is not similar to one-dimension. It has plural algorithms. We researched line predictors and local-plain predictors I two-dimensional space. The both predictors are equivalent; however, in multi-dimensional extrapolation, it is very important to find the direction of predictions. Especially, since the slide window method requires information to predict the future in sampling data, if they are not ordered appropriately in the direction, the predictor cannot operate. We tested the extrapolation for typical two-dimensional functions, and found an excellent character of slide-window method based on local-plain. By using the method, we can extrapolate the function until twice-outer regions of the definitions.

  • This study aims to establish the concept about a new approaching method dor remodeling in the planning step. also, this study sets up the way how to approach in a dimensional way by classifying the conceptual composition of the target housing as a method. The dimensional definition is as below. The one dimensional approach: the spot. the two dimensional approach: the line, the three dimensional approach: the apatial mass, the four dimensional approach: space + time, the n dimensional (multi-dimensional) approach: the space + time + emotion. The research findings are as follows : For the purpose of remodeling, the old housing should be viewed in the three dimensional shape and space. It is defined as multi-dimensional module method to design the shape and space of the target housing in a multi-dimensional point, considering the three dimensional space composition, the emotion of the user, the housing itself. and the time of the user.

  • Rotary kiln furnace is one of the most widely used reactors in industrial field. In this paper, 0-dimensional heat and mass balance for direct coal flame rotary kiln was performed preferentially, then a simplified 1-dimensional model was developed based on 0-dimensional analysis data to proceed additional thermal analysis. Compared the results with the currently operating rotary kiln data to validate 1-dimensional model. Through this procedure, it can help to derive fundamental idea for design and operation of rotary kiln.

  • The separated quasi-one-dimensional ($7{\times}7$) and ($5{\times}5$) phases on vicinal Si(557) surfaces were successfully realized by changing the crystallographic orientation and thermal treatment conditions. A small change in the crystallographic orientation of the Si(557) surface stabilized the quasi-one-dimensional ($5{\times}5$) phase of a (111) facet on vicinal Si(557) surfaces and made it coexist with a quasi-one-dimensional ($7{\times}7$) phase after an optimal thermal treatment, whereas only the quasi-one-dimensional ($7{\times}7$) phase was stable on the Si(557) surface. Interestingly, this causes the (111) terraces with different widths (L) to prefer only one of the $5{\times}5$ (L=12) and $7{\times}7$ (L=9) phases resulting in long-range order of both phases along the step edge direction, which was observed by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and was supported by first principle calculations. In contrast, the quasi-one-dimensional ($5{\times}5$ and ($7{\times}7$) phases were arranged randomly across the step edge direction. The change of surface morphology of vicinal Si(557) surfaces will be discussed with STM images and theoretical calculations by changing crystallographic cutting angles and thermal treatment conditions.

  • Conventional researches almost have been focused on the one dimensional inverted pendulum. Recently, Sprenger et al[2] have researched a two dimensional inverted pendulum Observing human's action to control an inverted pendulum, one can recognize that human uses a three dimensional metier including the up and down motion. In this paper, we propose a fuzzy logic controller(FLC) of a new three dimensional inverted pendulum system. We derive a dynamic equation of the mechanism including a 3-axis cartesian robot and a inverted pendulum. We propose a design method of a fuzzy controller of the yaw and pitch angles of a inverted pendulum. In the design, the redundant degree-of-freedom(DOF) of the robot ...

  • Two-Dimensional modelling of the Cochlear biomechanics is presented in this paper. The Laplace partial differential equation which represents the fluid mechanics of the Cochlea has been transformed into two-dimensional electrical transmission line. The procedure of this transformation is explained in detail. The comparison between one and two dimensional models is also presented. This electrical modelling of the basilar membrane (BM) is clearly useful for the next approach to the further. Development of active elements which are essential in the producing of the sharp tuning of the BM. This paper shows that two-dimension model is qualitatively better than one-dimensional model both in amplitude and phase responses of the BM displacement. The present model is only for frequency response. However because the model is electrical, the two-dimensional transmission line model can be extended to time response without any difficult.

  • When exact analytical solutions to certain type of heat conduction problems are quite cumbersome or not obtainable, it is important to introduce approximate analytical methods which are simple and useful compared with numerical methods. In this study, therefore, the Heat Balance Integral Method is applied to analysis of steady-state conduction in a straight fin of trapezoidal profile, and the two-dimensional temperature distribution in the fin and the approximate fin efficiency are obtained. Results are compared with those by the one- dimensional analysis and two-dimensional numerical analysis for a wide range of Biot numbers. It is shown that the two-dimensional temperature distribution obtained by the integral method is in good agreement with that by the finite element method at Biot numbers for which the result by the one-dimensional analysis is unreliable.

  • We prove local existence and global uniqueness in one dimensional nonlinear hyperbolic inverse problems. The basic key for showing the local existence of inverse solution is the principle of contracted mapping. As an application, we consider a hyperbolic inverse problem with damping term.

  • There are some sufficient or necessary conditions about projectivity for toric varieties. We consider one of them and state some conditions about projectivity for a 3-dimensional compact nonsingular case which is obtained from a projective one by nonsingular equivariant blow-down.
