One-Step FEM을 이용한 초기 블랭크 형상 결정에 관한 연구 (The Determination of Initial Blank Shape by Using the One-Step FEM)

  • In this paper, a finite element method for the determination of initial blank shape in sheet metal forming process will be introduced. The initial blank shape is determined by the only one step from the final to the initial blank. The used finite element inverse method adopted Henky's deformation theory, Hill's anisotropic yield criterion and simplified boundary conditions. Based on this theory. a three-dimensional membrane finite element code was developed. The developed code will be applied to several sheet metal forming examples for the demonstration of its validity.

  • Traditional section-based method develops blank along section planes and find trimming line by generating loop of end points. This method suffers from inaccurate results for regions with out-of-section motion. In this study, new fast method to find feasible trimming line is proposed. One step FEM is used to analyze the flanging and incremental development method is proposed to handle bad-shaped mesh and undercut part. Also in order to remedy mesh distortion during development, energy minimization technique is utilized. The proposed method is verified by shrink/stretch flange forming and successfully applied to the complex industrial applications such as door outer flanging process.

One-Step Forming을 이용한 박판성형 해석에 관한 연구 (Numerical Study on Sheet Metal Forming Analysis Using the One-Step Forming)

  • The objective of this paper is to introduce very fast but still stable solution using finite element procedures, and it has been used in an iterative mode for product design applications. A lot of numerical techniques have been developed to deal with the material, geometric and boundary condition non-linearities occurred in the stamping process. One of them, the One-Step FEM is very efficient and useful tool for a design and trouble-shooting in various stamping processes. In this method, the mathod, the material is assumed to deform directly from the initial flat blank to the final configuration without any intermediate steps. The formulation is based on the deformation theory of plasticity and the upper bound theorem. As a result of the calculations, the initial blank shape is obtained, together with the material flow, strains and thickness distribution in the part.

  • 초음파 금속 용착은 신소재, 도금 구조물 등과 같은 다양한 재료의 용착에 대한 가능성 때문에 광범위한 분야에서 사용되고 있으며 용착 조건도 다양하다. 본 연구에서는, 이종 금속 박판의 초음파 금속 용착을 위해 설계된 단부가형 한파장 혼은 유한요소해석 하였다. 유한유소해석은 초음파 혼의 최적 설계와 초음파 공구혼의 고유 주파수를 예상하기 위해 사용되었다. 그리고 설계된 한파장 스텝 혼은 고유 주파수 분석 시스템을 사용하여 실험적으로 검증하였다.

  • Superplastic forming/diffusion bonding(SPF/DB) has been widely used in the automotive and aerospace industry since it has great advantages to produce very light and strong components. Finite element method(FEM) is used to model the SPF/DB process of 3-sheet sandwich panel to predict the pressure-time curve and to analyze the process parameters. In order to eliminate defects of the part, a new pressurization scheme is proposed. Contrary to the conventional one-step pressurization, which causes the folding at the DB joint, two-step pressurization can eliminate the folding. Effect of pressurization cycle was investigated by using FE analysis and proper pressurization cycle is proposed.

  • This paper presents design and analysis of multi-layered ring-dot type piezoelectric transformer. These transformers are useful for step up and step down. The transformers consist of disk type multi-layered piezoelectric ceramic plates. The finite element method(FEM) was used for analysis transformer. Vibration mode, electric field and equivalent elastic strain of piezoelectric transformer were simulated by changing frequency. As results, the strain was distributed in isolation part entirely. We can get the operated in step up transformer when the inner side electrode using by input parts. Also we can get the step down transformers using by input Part as outer side electrode. The step up ratio and step down ratio was increased by decreasing inner side electrode. The resonance frequency was increased by increasing inner side electrode when the transformer was operated in step down transformer. But the step up one was decreased. From these results, we can expect to multi-layered ring-dot type piezo transformers as step up and step down transformers.

  • This paper present a new sort of multilayer piezoelectric ceramic transformer for AC-adapter. This piezoelectric transformer operates in the second longitudinal vibration mode. The output voltage of the multilayer piezoelectric transformer was simulated using ANSYS, that is one of the FEM analysis program. As results, the minimum displacement was occurred at the two paints where one is the middle of input and the other is middle of output side in second thickness extensional vibration mode.   • The brushless motor is getting widely applied to the automotive component with the advantage of the high efficiency, high reliability and etc.. Most of the motor applications require the low vibration and acoustic noise. The cogging torque is the one of the main cause of the noise and vibration. The step-skewed rotor is used to reduce the cogging torque. We analyze the characteristics of the step-skewed rotor and non skewed rotor with the same stator by using 2-dimensional FEM. And then we analyze the characteristics variation according to the rotor eccentricity. The prototype is made and tested. As the results, the step-skewed rotor structure reduce the cogging torque and local radial force but it is more sensitive to rotor eccentricity.

  • This paper is the first step fur thermo-mechanical stress analyses of part with coated layer under contact load. A lot of coated material is applied in many structures to endure severe situation, like thermal stresses, high temperature gradients, irradiation, impacts by microscopic meteorites, and so on. In this part we are going to apply the FEM to analyze space parts with a coated layer subjected to a contact load thermo-mechanically. Coating layer is very thin in comparision with the structure, therefore it should take more times and behaviors to analyze whole model. In these reason we develop the FEM method of analyzing part with coated layer under contact load using partial model. Steady state temperature distribution of the part is obtained first, and then we apply quasi-static external load on the part. To obtain the final stage of solution, we compute the total solution, and by subtracting the thermal strain from the total ones we get the mechanical strains to compute stresses of the parts. In using the FEM, one has to discretize the model into many sub-domain, finite elements. The method is consisited of two steps. First step is to analyze the whole model with rather coarse meshes. Second step we cut a small region near the loading point, and analyze with very fine meshes. This method is allowable by the Saint-Venant's principle. And then, we finally shall check the therma1 load on the stresses of the space part with coating layer with or without substrate cracks. Then, we predict the actual behaviors of the part used in space.

  • A design methodology is applied for manufacturing the valve-spring retainer component. The design criterion is the forging load within the available press limit. Also, the final product should not have any geometrical defect. The rigid-plastic TEM has been applied to simulate the conventional five-stage manufacturing processes, which include mainly backward extrusion and heading process. Simulations of one step process from selected stocks to the final product shape are performed for a possibly better process than the conventional one.
