  • A part definition must not only provide shape information of a nominal part but also contain non-shape information such as tolerances, surface roughness and material attributes. Although machining features are useful for suitable shape information for process reasoning in the CAPP, they need to be integrated with tolerance information for effective process planning. We develop the tolerance modeler that efficiently integrates machining features with tolerance information for feature-based CAPP It is based on the association of machining features, tolerance features. and tolerances Tolerance features, where tolerances are assigned, are classified into two types; one is the face that is a topological entity on a solid model and the other is the functional geometry that is not referenced to topological entities. The functional geometry is represented by using machining features All the data for representing tolerance information with machining features are stored completely and unambiguously in the independent tolerance structure. The developed tolerance modeler is implemented as a module of a comprehensive feature-based CAPP system.

  • This study was to investigate the dry weight, the amount of Na+ and K+ water potential and leaf photosynthesis rate in plants for determining the salt tolerance mechanism in rice cultivars on soil and solution culture with NaCl. The results obtained in this study are summarized as follows ; In general, rice cultivars, cv. Tetep and Jinbu, having high salt tolerance in ID(identified on dry matter production level) showed the higher salt tolerance in RGR (relative growth rate), compared with rice cultivars(cv. Nonglim 41ho, Dunraebyeo and Sobackbyeo) having low salt tolerance. The contents of Na in rice differed depending on culivars and plant parts. Tetep contained 2.9times higher amounts of Na+ than leaf blade and root part. High salt tolerance cultivar Obongbyeo showed a larger decrease in osmotic potential than low salt tolerance cultivar Dunraebyeo suggesting that osmotic adjustment was developed under salt stress conditions in a salt tolerant cultivar . In order to know the IY(identified on grain yeild level using rice cultivars having different salt tolerance the capacity of photosyntheiss was investigated. The capapcity of photosynthesis in cv. Tetep and Obongbyeo having high salt tolerance was much higher that in cv.Dunraebyeo and Nonglim 41 having low salt tolerance.

  • The purposes of this study are to examine effects of household characteristics and risk tolerance attitude on risk tolerance behavior and to investigate the effect of risk tolerance attitude and behavior on financial satisfaction. For this study, data were collected during October of 2001 through a popular Web site for women in South Korea (www.azoomma.com). The participants in this study were 609 housewives, resulting in 607 with usable data. Multiple regression and path analysis were conducted using the SPSS for Windows. Findings suggest that the greater is risk tolerance attitude, the greater is risk tolerance behavior and those who exhibit more risk tolerance behavior tend to be more satisfied with their personal financial situation. It implies that risk tolerance behavior playa positive role in predicting financial satisfaction. The results have implication for family economists and educators in developing educational program and presenting strategic to increases financial well-being, and also for financial counselors and planners in suggesting portfolio advice to their client

  • Alignment tolerance for EO/IR airborne camera using common optic is an important factor in stabilization accuracy and geo-pointing accuracy. Before airborne camera is mounted on the aircraft, defining alignment tolerance and verification of it is essential in production as well as research and development. In this paper we establish basic concept on the definition and elements of alignment tolerance for airborne camera and propose how to measure each of those elements. Components and the measurement sequence of alignment tolerance are as follows: 1) tolerance of alignment between EO and IR LOS. 2) tolerance of sensor alignment. 3) tolerance of position reporting accuracy. 4) tolerance of mount alignment

  • In order to develop new bioactive functions ginseng extract, it was studies whether the ginseng extracts on the induction of immunological tolerance In mice. Oral immunologic tolerance was induced by the secondary exposure of egg albumin + alum following gastrointestinal exposure nth egg albumin In mice, and the effect on anti EA antibody in blood, 7 cell subset in spleen were Investigated. The results obtained were as follows. EA group and EA + GE group was capable of conferring tolerance, contained a profound for 5 weeks experimental but saline group restricted to induce tolerance. GE group did not show the activity of tolerance by the first immunogens exposure, but induced the tolerance by the secondary exposure. And also spleen T cells, CD 8+ and CD 4+ were decreased. These results suggested that ginseng may affect the induction of immunological tolerance, which may be associated proliferative response of CD 4+ and CD 8+ in splenocyte.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of lifelong learners' learned helplessness and failure tolerance on academic achievement and job performance. The result of this empirical study exhibits that learned helplessness has negative effects on their academic achievement and job performance. Failure tolerance, however, has positive effects on their academic achievement and job performance. In addition, their academic achievement has mediated between learned helplessness and/or failure tolerance, and job performance. This study suggests that lifelong learners' positive response to failures is helpful for both learning and working performances.

  • Industrial products determined by fixed size posses definite limits variety by manufacture tolerance in existence. The optimum value solved by deterministic approaches do not account of tolerance bands of design variables and material properties. If we examine optimum value considering tolerance bands of design variables and material properties, it might be useless, owing to exist infeasible region. We have two ways to prevent being useless value. The one is to minimize tolerance band, the other is to consider tolerance band in optimum design. The former needed more accuracy during manufacturing process require higher production cost, the letter is more appropriate to consider tolerance band. In this research, we consider the tolerance bands of all variables, which might have the tolerance bands used in the problem, based on optimum value of deterministic approaches. Orthogonal arrays are used to minimize the number of trial. Tolerance bands are supposed discretionary according to design variable. Appropriateness suggested by this research is examined through two examples. Mathematical problem is investigated only in terms of tolerance bands of design variables, and cantilever beam problem is explained through tolerance bands of design variable, material properties and loading conditions. It is proved that values from the presented method are satisfactory for tolerance bands of variables.

  • The majority of previous studios on tolerance synthesis have viewed the issue as a design methodology to determine optimal component tolerances on behalf of a manufacturer. while meeting given assembly tolerance requirements Although a considerable amount of research has been done on this issue. a couple of important questions still remain unanswered First. how ran a design engineer quantitatively incorporate a customer's perception on a product quality into a tolerance synthesis scheme at the early design stage Second. how ran component tolerances and assembly tolerance be optimized in a simultaneous way? To answer these questions. this article presents the customer-driven concurrent tolerance synthesis which is facilitated by the notion of truncated distribution and the use of mathematical programming techniques. while adopting the major principles of Tagurhl philosophy. The work presented in the article is an effort to gain insight, which can be useful in practice when setting up guidelines for an overall tolerance synthesis.

  • This study was performed to investigate the effects of glycine on the development of tolerance to and physical dependence on morphine. Repeated administration of morphine (10 mg/kg) developed tolerance and physical dependence. Glycine (100, 200 and 400 mg/kg) was administered intraperitoneally (i.p.) to mice for 7 days prior to the morphine injection. Analgesic effects were estimated by the tail flick methods. The inhibitory degree of the development of morphine-induced analgsic tolerance by i.p. administration of glycine was evidenced by the increase in analgesic response to morphine. Glycine inhibited the development of tolerance to morphine. In addition, we separately measured jumping response as the naloxone-precipitated withdrawal sign in mice that had received the same morphine. Glycine reduced the number of jumping behaviors in morphine dependent mice. These results suggest that glycine might be useful the prevention or treatment of morphine tolerance and physical dependence.
