장망초지기에서 탈수 시뮬레이션 (Drainage Simulation in Fourdrinier Paper Machine)

  • The MDDA(Modified Dynamic Drainage Analyzer) was developed to evaluate the drainage at hydrofoil table roll and low vacuum devices on fourdrinier paper machine MB-former. Comparison of the results was obtained using a computer simulation system based on Taylor's equation and filtration equation and by measuring the consistency profile in a paper machine presented an agreement within 10.7% This device can evaluate the dewatering pro-file on wire for various stock properties adjust dewatering devices on fourdrinier paper machine and control the dosage of retention aids for improving paper structural properties and runnability of papermachine.

Characterization of machining quality attributes based on spindle probe, coordinate measuring machine, and surface roughness data

  • This study investigates the effects of machining parameters as they relate to the quality characteristics of machined features. Two most important quality characteristics are set as the dimensional accuracy and the surface roughness. Before any newly acquired machine tool is put to use for production, it is important to test the machine in a systematic way to find out how different parameter settings affect machining quality. The empirical verification was made by conducting a Design of Experiment (DOE) with 3 levels and 3 factors on a state-of-the-art Cincinnati Hawk Arrow 750 Vertical Machining Center (VMC). Data analysis revealed that the significant factor was the Hardness of the material and the significant interaction effect was the Hardness + Feed for dimensional accuracy, while the significant factor was Speed for surface roughness. Since the equally important thing is the capability of the instruments from which the quality characteristics are being measured, a comparison was made between the VMC touch probe readings and the measurements from a Mi-tutoyo coordinate measuring machine (CMM) on bore diameters. A machine mounted touch probe has gained a wide acceptance in recent years, as it is more suitable for the modern manufacturing environment. The data vindicated that the VMC touch probe has the capability that is suitable for the production environment. The test results can be incorporated in the process plan to help maintain the machining quality in the subsequent runs.

  • Reverse Engineering is to find CAD model through measured data of a physical model which is not available in CAD model. The measured data are obtained from measuring with Coordinate Measuring Machine or Laser Scanner. This paper introduces efficient methods of reconstruction through the applicating process of the Reverse Engineering with technical surfaces.

  • In current coordinate measuring machine practice, there are no commonly accepted sample sizes for estimating form errors which have a statistical confidence. Practically, sample size planning is important for the geometrical tolerance inspection using a coordinate measuring machine. We determine and validate appropriate sample sizes for form error estimation. Also, we develop form error estimation methods with certain confidence levels based on the obtained sample sizes in various form errors: straightness, flatness, circularity, and cylindericity.

  • The assessment of machined surface is difficult because the freeform surface must be evaluated by surface fairness as well as dimensional accuracy. In this paper, the methodology of freeform surface generation using measured data on the machine tool is presented. The reliability of measured points data is obtained by measuring error compensation. The compensated data are formulated through Non-uniform G-spline surface modeling. In order to improve the surface fairness, the generated model si smoothened by parameterization The validity and usefulness of the proposed method are examined through computer simulation and experiments on the machine tool.

역설계 방법에 의한 시편 치수 형상의 오차율 분석 (Analysis of Master Dimensional Shape Error Rate According to Reverse Engineering Technique)

  • In this study, an experiment was conducted using a 3D scanner, commonly used in reverse engineering techniques, and the newly introduced CT measuring machine. The hole, width, and angle of specimens having various shapes were designated, the error rates in dimensional modelling generated during scanning with each device were compared, and the models were printed using a 3D printer. A secondary comparative analysis of the two printed specimens was conducted; the causes of dimension errors that occur during the printing process after scanning with each device and the differences associated with variation in shape were also analyzed. Based on the analysis results, the featured shape for each scanning application method and issues to consider in reverse engineering were presented, and the use of the CT measuring machine was recommended as a method to minimize error rates in dimensions and ensure efficient reverse engineering.

  • When the trailing edge and leading edge of an airfoil contour of high pressure compressor blades are measured, there exists a measurement error due to the size of the probe stylus ball diameter. In the paper an experimental study is provided to determine the optimum diameter of the probe stylus in inspecting the airfoil of the high pressure compressor blade. The measurement and analysis procedure suggested in this paper will be helpful to those who are involved in measuring and inspecting various types of blades.

ISO 최소영역법에 기준한 캠 디스크의 형상 오차 해석 (Form Error Analysis of a Cam Disk Profile Based on ISO Minimum Zone Criterion)

  • In an effort to reduce the evaluation time of the precision of manufactured disk cams, an effective measuring method with an exclusively built profile-measuring machine and subsequent data analysis procedure is proposed. The design and measuring data are interpolated by cubic spline curves to compute the precision error which is defined by the maximum and minimum distances between two curves. The minimum zone criterion of ISO is employed to evaluate the form error, and genetic algorithm is used to search the orientation and location of design data for the measured data which minimizes the form error. The proposed system was applied to marine engine cams, and it shows that the form error is reduced to 30% down compared with the method which minimizes the form error with the assumption that the centers of measured data design cam curve are identical.

사출성형품의 역공학에서 Geometry 정보를 이용한 정밀도 향상에 관한 연구 (A Study on Improvement of Accuracy using Geometry Information in Reverse Engineering of Injection Molding Parts)

  • This paper proposes an error compensation method that improves accuracy with geometry information of injection molding parts. Geometric information can give an improved accuracy in reverse engineering. Measuring data can not lead to get accurate geometric model, including errors of physical parts and measuring machines. Measuring data include errors which can be classified into two types. One is molding error in product, the other is measuring error. Measuring error includes optical error of laser scanner, deformation by probe forces of CMM and machine error. It is important to compensate these in reverse engineering. Least square method (LSM) provides the cloud data with a geometry compensation, improving accuracy of geometry. Also, the functional shape of a part and design concept can be reconstructed by error compensation using geometry information.

스윙암 방식의 형상 측정기를 이용한 대형 반사경의 정밀가공에 관한 연구 (Study on Fabrication of a Large Concave Mirror Surface Using a Swing-Arm Type Profilometer)

  • Generally optical components are fabricated by grinding, lapping and polishing processes. Those processes take long time to obtain optical high surface quality. In the case of large optical components, the on-machine measurement is strongly recommended because the workpiece is fragile and difficult to set up for fabricating and measuring. This paper is concerned about a swing-arm mechanism which can be used for on-machine measurement of a surface profile with a sensing probe end-effect, and also for grinding or lapping the surface with a corresponding tool. The measuring accuracy and uncertainty using a swing arm type profilometer have been studied. The experimental results show that this method is useful specially in lapping process with the accuracy of $5{\mu}m$. Those inspection data are provided for correcting the residual figuring error in next processes.
