A layer of $TiO_2$ thin film less than ~200nm in thickness, as a blocking layer, was deposited by 13.56 MHz radio frequency magnetron sputtering method directly onto the anode electrode to be isolated from the electrolyte in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). This is to prevent the electrons from back-transferring from the electrode to the electrolyte ($I^-/{I_3}^-$). The presented DSCs were fabricated with working electrode of F:$SnO_2$(FTO) glass coated with blocking $TiO_2$ layer, dye-attached nanoporous $TiO_2$ layer, gel electrolyte and counter electrode of Pt-deposited FTO glass. The effects of blocking layer were studied with respect to impedance and conversion efficiency of the cells. The, electrochemical impedances of DSCs using this electrode were $R_1$: 13.9, $R_2$: 15.0, $R_3$: 10.9 and $R_h$: $82{\Omega}$. The $R_2$ impedance related by electron movement from nanoporous $TiO_2$ to TCO showed lower than that of normal DSCs. The photo-conversion efficiency of prepared DSCs was 5.97% ($V_{oc}$: 0.75V, $J_{sc}$: 10.5 mA/$cm^2$, ff: 0.75) and approximately 1% higher than general DSCs sample.

Phonon scattering and impact ionization models have been presented to analyze hot carrier transport in high energy region, using full band model and Fermi's golden rule. We have investigated temperature dependent properties for impact ionization process of Si using realistic energy band structures at 77K and look. The realistic full band model, obtained from the empirical pseudopotential method with local from factors, is used to calculate scattering rate. The accurate calculation of impact ionization rate requires the use of a wavevector- and frequency-dependent dielectric function ξ ( q,$\omega$). The empirical phonon scattering rate P$\sub$ph/, is given by deriving from linear function for P$\sub$ph/ versus D(E) since the phonon scattering rate is linearly depended on density of states D(E). Impact ionization rate p,, is calculated from the first principle's theory. and fitted by modified Keldysh formula having power of above 2.

In this study, (0.80-x)Pb($Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}$)$O_3$-$PbTiO_3$-Pb($Ni_\frac{1}{2}W_\frac{1}{2}$)$O_3$ 0.05$\leq$x$\leq$0.20) ceramics were fabricated by the mixed oxide method, the sintering temperature and time were 950∼1200[$^{\circ}C$], 2[hr], respectively. The dielectric and structural properties with composition and sintering temperature were investigated for the application as multilayer ceramic capacitors. Dielectric constant of 0.70PMN-0.2PT-0.10PNW composition with repeated calcination was increased rapidly. Increasing the Pb($Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}$)$O_3$-$PbTiO_3$-Pb($Ni_\frac{1}{2}W_\frac{1}{2}$)$O_3$ contents from 0.05 to 0.20 [mol], phase transition temperature was shifted from 68 to 2[$^{\circ}C$] and dielectric constant was decreased while sintered density was increased. In the specimens containing 0.10, 0.15[mol] of PNW, dielectri constants at room temperature were exhibited the highest values 11199, 10114, respectively. Resistivity of specimens were $10^{10}$ ∼ $10^{12}$($\Omega$.m) and there was no dependence on sintering temperature and composition.

Self-patterning of thin films using photosensitive sol solution has advantages such as simple manufacturing process compared to photoresist/dry etching process. In this study, ferroelectric $Sr_{0.9}Bi_{2.1}Ta_2O_9$(SBT) and $La_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_3$(LSCO)thin films have been prepared by spin coating method using photosensitive sol solution. $Sr(OC_2H5)_2$, $Bi(TMHD)_3$ and $Ta(OC_2H)_5)_5$ were used as starting materials for SBT solution and $La(OCH_2CH_2OCH_3)_3$, $Sr(OC_2H_5)_2$, $CO(OCH_2CH_2OCH_3)_2$ were used for LSCO solution. Solubility difference by UV irradiation on LSCO thin film allows to obtain a fine patterning due to M-O-M bond formation. The lowest resistivity($4{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}cm$) of LSCO thin films was obtained by annealing at $740^{\circ}C$.

Ni/Ti/Al multilayer system ('/'denotes the deposition sequence) was tested for low-resistance ohmic contact formation to Al-implanted p-type 4H-SiC. Ni 30 nm / Ti 50 nm / Al 300 nm layers were sequentially deposited by e-beam evaporation on the 4H-SiC samples which were implanted with Al (norminal doping concentration = $4\times10^{19}cm^{-3}$) and then annealed at $1700^{\circ}C$ for dopant activation. Rapid thermal anneal (RTA) temperature for ohmic contact formation was varied in the range of $840\sim930^{\circ}C$. Specific contact resistances were extracted from the measured current vs. voltage (I-V) data of linear- and circular transfer length method (TLM) patterns. In constrast to Ni contact, Ni/Ti/Al contact shows perfectly linear I-V characteristics, and possesses much lower contact resistance of about $2\sim3\times10^{-4}\Omega{\cdot}cm^2$ even after low-temperature RTA at $840^{\circ}C$, which is about 2 orders of magnitude smaller than that of Ni contact. Therefore, it was shown that RTA temperature for ohmic contact formation can be lowered to at least $840^{\circ}C$ without significant compromise of contact resistance. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis indicated the existence of intermetallic compounds of Ni and Al as well as $NiSi_{1-x}$, but characteristic peaks of $Ti_{3}SiC_2$, a probable narrow-gap interfacial alloy responsible for low-resistance Ti/Al ohmic contact formation, were not detected. Therefore, Al in-diffusion into SiC surface region is considered to be the dominant mechanism of improvement in conduction behavior of Ni/Ti/Al contact.

We investigated the effect of capacitively coupled Ar plasma treatment on contact resistance ($R_c$) and channel sheet resistance ($R_{sh}$) of graphene field effect transistors (FETs), by varying their channel length in the wide range from 200 nm to $50{\mu}m$ which formed the transfer length method (TLM) patterns. When the Ar plasma treatment was performed on the long channel ($10{\sim}50{\mu}m$) graphene FETs for 20 s, $R_c$ decreased from 2.4 to $1.15k{\Omega}{\cdot}{\mu}m$. It is understood that this improvement in $R_c$ is attributed to the formation of $sp^3$ bonds and dangling bonds by the plasma. However, when the channel length of the FETs decreased down to 200 nm, the drain current ($I_d$) decreased upon the plasma treatment because of the significant increase of channel $R_{sh}$ which was attributed to the atomic structural disorder induced by the plasma across the transfer length at the edge of the channel region. This study suggests a practical guideline to reduce $R_c$ using various plasma treatments for the $R_c$ sensitive graphene and other 2D material devices, where $R_c$ is traded off with $R_{sh}$.

In this study, metal/ZnO contacts were thermally annealed at different temperatures (as-dep., 400$^{\circ}C$, 600$^{\circ}C$, 800$^{\circ}C$, 1000$^{\circ}C$) for the investigation of electrical properties, and surface and interface characteristics. The analysis of the element composition and the chemical bonding state of the surface was made by the XPS(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy). An attempt was made to establish the electrical property-microstructure relationship for the (Ti, Au)/ZnO. The Ti/ZnO contact exhibits an ohmic characteristics with a relatively high contact resistance of 4.74${\times}$10$\^$-1/ $\Omega$$\textrm{cm}^2$ after an annealing at 400$^{\circ}C$. The contact showed a schottky characteristics when the samples were annealed at higher temperature than 400$^{\circ}C$. The transition from the ohmic to schottky characteristics was contributed from the formation of the oxide layers as was confirmed by the peaks for O-O and Ti-O bondings in XPS analysis. For the Au/ZnO contact the lowest contact resistance was obtained from the as-deposited sample. The resistance was slowly increased with annealing temperature up to 600$^{\circ}C$. The ohmic characteristics were maintained eden fort 600$^{\circ}C$ annealing. The XPS analysis showed that the Au-O intensity was dramatically decreased with temperature above 600$^{\circ}C$.

Spinel $LiMn_{2-y}M_yO_4$ and $LiMn_{2-y}M_yO_4$ (M=Mg, Zn) powders were synthesized by solid-state method at $800^{\circ}C$ for 37h. Crystal structure and electrochemical properties were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, charge-discharge test, cyclic voltammetry and ac impedance to $LiMn_{2-y}M_yO_4$. All cathode material showed spinel structure in X-ray diffraction. Ununiform distortion which calculated by (111) face and (222) face was almost constant in spite of the change of the kind and the substituting ratio of the metal cation in $LiMn_{2-y}M_yO_4$ (M=Mg, Zn). $LiMn_{1.9}Mg_{0.05}Zn_{0.05}O_4/Li$ cell substituted $Mg^{+2}$ and $Zn^{+2}$ showed excellent discharge capacities than other cells, which it presented about 120mAh/g at the 1st cycle and about 73mAh/g at the 250th cycle, respectively. AC impedance of $LiMn_{2-y}M_yO_4/Li$ cells showed the similar resistance of about 65~110$\Omega$ before cycling.

Single phase $CuInS_2$ thin film with a highest diffraction peak (112) at a diffraction angle ($2\Theta$) of $27.7^{\circ}$ was well made by SEL method at annealing temperature of $250^{\circ}C$ and annealing hour of 60 min in vacuum of $10^{-3}$ Torr or in S ambience for an hour. And the peak of diffraction intensity at miller index (112) of $CuInS_2$ thin film annealed in S ambience was shown a little higher about 11 % than in only vacuum. Single phase $CuInS_2$ thin films were appeared from 0.85 to 1.26 of Cu/In composition ratio and sulfur composition ratios of $CuInS_2$ thin films fabricated in S ambience were all over 50 atom%. Also when $CuInS_2$ composition ratio was 1.03, $CuInS_2$ thin film with chalcopyrite structure had the highest XRD peak (112). The largest lattice constant of a and grain size of $CuInS_2$ thin film in S ambience was 5.63 ${\AA}$ and 1.2 ${\mu}m$ respectively. And the films in S ambience were all p-conduction type with resistivities of around $10^{-1}{\Omega}cm$.

To investigate the ZnO thin films which is interested in the next generation of short wavelength LEDs and Lasers, our ZnO thin films were deposited by RF sputtering system. At sputtering process of ZnO thin films, substrate temperature, work pressure respectively is $300^{\circ}C$ and 5.2 mTorr, and the purity of target is ZnO 5N. The thickness of ZnO thin films was about $1.9{\mu}m$ at SEM analysis after sputtering process. Phosphorus (P) and arsenic (As) were diffused into ZnO thin films sputtered by RF magnetron sputtering system in ampoule tube which was below $5\times10^{-7}$ Torr. The dopant sources of phosphorus and arsenic were $Zn_3P_2$ and $ZnAs_2$. Those diffusion was perform at 500, 600, and $700^{\circ}C$ during 3hr. We find the condition of p-type ZnO whose diffusion condition is $700^{\circ}C$, 3hr. Our p-type ZnO thin film has not only very high carrier concentration of above $10^{19}/cm^3$ but also low resistivity of $5\times10^{-3}{\Omega}cm$.
