  • A new fiber orientation sensor has been developed and tested on an actual paper machine to demonstrate its capability to function as a real-time monitoring system. First, we demonstrate the ability of the sensor system to detect the change in the fiber orientation angle while the sensor head, and not the paper, was intentionally rotated from $-90^{\circ}\;to\;+70^{\circ}$ with respect to the paper-traveling direction. Next, we demonstrate that this system can successfully detect the change in the magnitude and angle of fiber orientation in running paper when the direction of material flow on the wire was changed on the paper machine. The angle and magnitude of fiber orientation were independently confirmed by SST and MOA measurements. Furthermore, we found that the system was capable of measuring the basis weight and the moisture content of running paper while detecting the angle and magnitude of fiber orientation.

  • In the literature study on the cerebral palsy, the results were as follows : 1. Cerebral palsy is defined as a disorder of movement and posture due to a defect or lesion of the immature brain. For practical purposes it is useful to exclude from cerebral palsy those disorders of posture and movement which are of short duration, due to a progressive disease due solely to mental deficiency. 2. Cerebral Palsy is classified with quadriplegia, diplegia, hemi plegia, triplegia, and monoplegia or spastic CP, athetoid CP, ataxic CP, and combined classifications 3. Causes of Cerebral Palsy is any damage to the developing brain, whether caused by genetic or developmental disorders. And it is classified with prenatal.natal and postnatal causes. 4. Management consists of helping the child achieve maximum potential in growth and development. This should be started as early as possible with identification of the very young child who may have a developmental disorder. Certain medications, surgery, and braces may be used to improve nerve and muscle coordination and prevent dysfunction. 5. The aim of treatment is to encourage children and adults to learn to be as independent as possible. Some children and adults who have mild cerebral palsy will have no problems in achieving independence 6. Oji(五遲), Oyeon(五軟) and Okyeong(五硬) have the simmiar concepts with the cerebral palsy. 7. Oji(五遲) Oyeon(五軟) and Okyeong(五硬) are caused by seoncheon-pumbu-bujok(先天稟賦不足) and related with gan(肝), bi(脾) and sin(腎). 8. The treatment is achieved by the method of bogansin(補肝腎), ganggeungol(强筋骨) and boiungikki(補中益氣). And jihwanghwan(地黃丸) has been used most frequently.

  • The use of human vessels at the beginning of microsurgery training is highly recommended. But vessels with the appropriate length for training are not often obtained. Whether these vessels may be reused for training has not been reported. Accordingly, we harvested vessels from discarded tissues in lymph node dissection and demonstrated that vascular anastomosis training using the same human vessels several times is possible by placing the vessels in a freezer and defrosting them with hot water. Vascular walls can be stored for microsurgical training until about 4 years after harvest, as shown in the gross appearance and histologic findings of our preserved vessels. We recommend the technique presented here for the long-term reuse of human vessels for microsurgery training that closely resembles real procedures.

  • In order to utilize coal fly ash (hereafter : coal ash ) discharged from coal boiler as a material for civil engineering usage such as snow melter or soil improver, we have to prevent leaching hazardous elements such as fluorine boron and heavy metals from the coal ash because the leaching concentrations of some elements in the ash exceed the Japanese standards for environmental soil quality. Through the laboratory experiments and mill trials we confirmed that the leaching concentrations of fluorine, boron and heavy metals were maintained below their environmental standards by mixing with fixation chemicals and curing for a short time.

  • We present the case of a patient with severe postoperative scarring from surgical treatment for gastroschisis, with the intestine located immediately under the dermal scar. Although many patients are unsatisfied with the results of scar repair treatment, few reports exist regarding severe or difficult cases involving the surgical repair of postoperative scar contracture. We achieved an excellent result via simulation involving graph paper drawings that were generated using computed tomography images as a reference, followed by dermal scar deepithelialization. The strategy described here may be useful for other cases of severe postoperative scar contracture after primary surgery for gastroschisis.

  • As the first step in discussing the reliability of composite structures, a fundamental study was performed to obtain the scattering characteristics of glass-fiber reinforced plastics (GFRP) and woven carbon fiber reinforced plastics (WCFRP) as well as a reference metal. The Euler buckling load was obtained experimentally for each material. The experiments were conducted for specified rectangular specimens with simply supported edges. A new attachment to realize the simply support boundary conditions for composite materials have been prepared before these experiments. The scattering data in the results for GFRP and WCFRP composites were compared with those of a typical metal of aluminum alloy. The experimental data were also compared with numerical simulations including the uncertainties.

  • Objectives This is the clinical report about 1 case of patient with delayed motor development in lower limbs. Methods The herb medication, acupuncture therapies were applied for treating delayed motor development from June 9 to November 20, 2007. Results After 5 months treatment, the patient's delayed motor development were improved by oriental medical therapy. Conclusions We report the good results of oriental medical therapy on a pediatric patient with delayed lower limbs motor development. For more accurate studies, further studies would be needed with more cases.

  • A new method is proposed for the on-line measurement of the fiber orientation of sheet materials. The measurement of fiber orientation is very important in manufacturing paper sheets, non-woven fabrics, and glass sheets, because fiber orientation strongly affects product properties represented by, for example, dimensional stability of paper. A method developed in this research utilizes anisotropy of dielectric constants of sheet materials as a key characteristic to determine the fiber orientation. The new on-line sensor, consisting of 5 microwave dielectric resonators set in different directions, was designed to detect the fiber orientation while paper is running with high speed on a paper machine. This sensor can determine the direction and the degree of fiber orientation from the measured direction of the maximal dielectric constant and its variation, respectively. The fundamental performance of this system was examined by the static measurement of printing grade paper, which gave a satisfactory result. Then, the dynamic measurements were done at a speed of 1,000 m/min by using a high-speed test-coating machine.

  • Objectives: Chiljeong means the basic emotions containing joy, anger, anxiety, depression, fear and fright in Korean traditional medicine. Chiljeong was considered as a cause diseases or syndrome. The pathology of Chiljeong described the action of the gi and the principle of eumyangohaeng. When we treat the psychiatric symptoms in Korean traditional medicine, we need to understand the pathologic mechanism of Chiljeong. Methods: We extract the sentences regarding Chiljeong, Oji, Chilgi and Gugi along with the related words in Donguibogam. We analyze the selected sentences and classify the pathologic mechanism according to the general and seven emotions. Results: We found that several parts were related to Chiljeong, except the Sinmun, including the psychiatric symptoms in Donguibogam. Conclusions: The most frequently mentioned affected areas of basic Jangbu are Sim and Gan. The pathologic mechanism of general emotion was categorized by sentences into 4 groups, Giul, Dameum, Hwa and Heo.
