  • This study examines how experience diversity of chief technology officer (CTO) drives radical innovation of the firm, and the moderation effect of group attributes of top management team. Using data of 148 firms in U.S. manufacturing industries, this study finds that a CTO's diverse functional experience increases a firm radicalness, and diverse industrial experience also increases the radicalness. This study also examined the moderating effect of top management team (TMT) characteristics such as TMT size, TMT tenure, and gender composition in TMT. The positive relationship of CTO knowledge diversity and firm radicalness is weakened as TMT size or TMT tenure increased while the relationship is strengthened as gender diversity in TMT increased. These results of the analysis of firm-level radicalness provide implications for both academics and practitioners.

For 'personality' criteria, they contemplate that responsibility, community spirit and flexibility to resolve conflicts are important values. Further, views of life and creativity also need to be seriously considered in the screening process. Second, their satisfaction with the college admission officer system was relatively high (9.34 points). Last, in order to improve the interview screening system, teachers assert that the process to secure fairness is required. Based on the results, suggestions were made for ensuring expertise of college admission officer and improving the alternative policy of the admission officer interview system.

  • In this paper, it is examined how the amount of review time per applicant to a college admission officer system is connected with the performance of the selected students after they enter the college. About five years ago, college admission officers system has been introduced to Korea as a government policy. Thus, for most Korean college, there is not enough number of admission officers, while it takes substantial time to find out whether an applicant has potential ability or not. Thus, it is required to find out some policy alternatives to solve this discrepancy. In this paper, a simulation model is built using System Dynamics theory and simulated to understand the relation between the amount of review time and the performance of the selected students. Finally, some implications and policy suggestions are derived from the simulation results.

  • Admissions officer system was introduced in an effort to reject the score-oriented competition and select students on the basis of their individual potential and capacity. The admissions officer system, which was first introduced into the college entrance examination for the 2008 school year in Korea, has been operated by expanding the recruiting level up to 11.8% of the number of the students to be admitted by all colleges. The aim of this study is to analyze the performance of the admissions officer system by analyzing the true picture of school life led by the students singled out through admissions officer screening, and further to inquire into the substantial plan to support the students, who were selected through the admissions officer system, for their successful college life while displaying their potential and capacity As a result of doing research on this, it was found that the freshmen selected through admissions officer screening showed more positive responses in all measurement variables this study selected, such as school adaptability, school satisfaction, and career maturity, learning attitude than other students screened in a different way; in addition, school adaptability and school satisfaction came out as significantly high variables statistically. However, they showed insufficiency in the attitude in class from the behavioral aspect in learning attitude. This study made a suggestion that it's necessary for systematic support and management program to be mapped out and provided in order for the students selected through admissions officer screening to improve their learning attitude as they inspire themselves with school adaptability and school satisfaction.

  • The primary purpose of this study was to develop a college adjustment program for freshmen through admission officer system that relies less on test scores and on the various talents evaluated by admissions officers. To help these talented students adjust the new life of the university and enhance their gifts, a college adjustment program was developed with their special needs and characteristics. For that, the survey with 57 students and in-depth interviews with 12 students were conducted. The results revealed that the students wanted to learn study skills, self-management, global mind setting, and life vision and goals setting. Most of the students were worried about their grades because they entered the school with their talents and experience in diverse activities not SAT scores. To promote their academic performance, this program consisted of an academic readiness program which complements students' abilities in primary subjects like math, English, and science, and a potential progress program which is peer-group learning communities based on their own interests like global learning communities, creative learning communities, and service-learning communities. This program was suggested in the context of Comprehensive Development Model. To carry out the program systematically, related organizations and colleges should collaborate with each other.
