비도로용 디젤엔진의 분사시기 및 인젝터 변경에 따른 배출가스 특성 연구 (Effect of Injection Timing and Injector Hole Number on Emission Characteristics for Off-road Diesel Engine)

  • Environmental regulations are being reinforced for the solution of environmental pollution, that are global issues. Exhaust gas regulations of off-road engines also demand stepwise reduction emission from beginning of Tier 4 interim(2013). Characteristically, Tier 4 regulation apply the NRTC mode which is a transient cycle. And technical studies using NRTC mode are uncommon. In this study, for satisfy the Tier 4 final regulation on the NRTC mode, experimental study was conducted using a 3.4 L off-road engine. Fuel injection timing and injector hole number are chosen as parameters for investigation of combustion and exhaust gas characteristics on off-road diesel engine.

다구찌 방법을 적용한 Off-road 디젤 엔진의 분사조건 및 EGR 율 최적화에 관한 연구 (Study on Optimization of Fuel Injection Parameters and EGR Rate of Off-road Diesel Engine by Taguchi Method)

  • Not only the emission regulation of on-road vehicle engine, but also emission regulation of off-road engine have been reinforced. It is the reason of wide application of emission reduction technology for off-road engines. In this study, optimization of engine parameters (Injector hole number, Injection timing and EGR rate) for reduction of NOx and smoke emissions were conducted by using the analysis of sensitivity and S/N ratio of Taguchi method(DOE). As results, this paper shows optimum value of the parameters for NOx and smoke emission reduction. From the result of reproducibility verification, it is final that the prediction value of NOx and smoke has the error of below 10%. Consequently, the method and results of this study will be used for quantitative reference to EGR control mapping in next study.

  • To meet the Tier-4 emission standard, a variety of combustion technology in the field of off-road engine has been applied in conjunction with the engine after treatment technology. In this study, as the basis study for applying VGT and HPL EGR to 3.6 L CRDi engine, exhaust gas characteristics and fuel economy characteristics are confirmed in accordance with VGT and EGR operating conditions. Consequently, in the EGR applicable conditions, 60% VGT vane duty condition was confirmed that the trade-off characteristics between NOx and smoke are advantageous. In addition, in view of BSFC, VGT vane duty is considered desirable to control at around 50%.

  • This study was carried out to develop an engine for off-road vehicles especially for farm tractors using the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) which is known as a source of energy having good potential of substitute fuel for diesel engine because of its economical advantage and low pollutant materials after combustion. The study was focused on develop an engine of high in specific power output, low in specific fuel consumption and emission of pollutants. A series of teat was dope on the engine - various laboratory tests to analyze performance of the engine and actual field tests with the engine installed on a farm tractor as a power source.

Off-road 엔진의 EGR율에 따른 촉매코팅 DPF의 자연재생율 예측 (Predicting the Oxidation Amount in the Catalyzed DPF according to the EGR Rate for the Off-road Engine)

  • This paper aims to predict oxidation amounts of catalyst and heat produced through passive regeneration on DPF according to different EGR rates and loads of off-road engines. Soot oxidation model and parameter assumption model were used for the test. Engine data were measureed with 25%, 50% and 75% of 1600 RPM loads and with 0% and 30% of EGR rates in order to estimate parameters. Oxygen levels calculated on the DPF downstream and oxygen levels measured were compared through all of the experimental conditions for validating the model. Oxidation rates on DPF according to different EGR rates and oxygen levels on the DPF downstream were estimateed successfully, which can be applied for off-road vehicles.

  • 최근 대기환경 개선에 대한 관심이 대두되면서 화석연료를 사용 하는 기관에 대한 배출가스 저감 연구가 활발하게 진행 되고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 저감 기술 중 NOx를 저감하기 위해 가장 많이 적용 되고 있는 EGR system을 Off-road 기계식 디젤엔진에 적용하였을 때 나타나는 배출가스 특성을 파악하기 위하여 진행되었다. EGR system 적용을 위하여 먼저 엔진의 운전영역에 대한 배출가스 특성을 파악하였고, 각각의 엔진회전수 조건에서 다양한 EGR 조건을 적용하여 NOx 저감을 위한 최적 EGR 율을 도출하였다. 이에 따라 수정된 EGR 맵 적용 조건의 엔진 배기 특성에 대해 NRTC 모드를 구현하여 EGR 미적용 조건 및 기존 맵과 비교 및 고찰하였으며, 그 결과로 EGR 미적용 조건 대비 NOx가 약 42% 저감됨을 보였다.

  • The aim of this study is to compare the effectiveness of turbo chargers on engines for off-road use when combined with WGT and VGT technologies. The effectiveness of turbo chargers was measured and performance was compared using a functional model. Exhaust characteristics were compared using WGT and VGT technologies through a gas analyzer. Results showed VGT technology was more effective at high RPM compared to WGT technology. When it came to maximising turbo performance, VGT was more effective than WGT in every test. WGT and VGT produced similar exhaust NOx levels, whereas the VGT was more effective on the PM.

비도로 차량용 디젤엔진의 배기가스 저감에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Reduction of Diesel-Engine Emissions for Off-Road Vehicles)

  • 비도로 차량용 디젤엔진의 Tier 4 interim 규제를 만족하기 위하여 입자상물질과 질소산화물 배출량은 현행 규제 대비 각각 95%, 30% 저감되어야 하며, 입자상 물질을 저감하기위한 방법으로 디젤산화촉매, 부분유량 매연 여과장치 및 매연여과장치가 비도로 차량용 디젤엔진에 적용될 수 있다. 또한 질소산화물을 저감하기위해 배기가스 재순환방법, 선택적 환원촉매와 희박 질소산화물 포집장치 등이 적용될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 56kW급 off-road 차량에서의 입자상물질과 질소산화물을 저감하기위해 매연여과장치와 고압루프 배기가스재순환 시스템이 연구되었다. 실험결과로서 디젤산화촉매와 매연여과장치는 입자상물질을 저감하는데 매우 효과적이었으며 낮은 배압과 함께 출력손실도 5%이내였다. 고압루프 배기가스재순환을 적용한 결과 중 저부하 조건에서 효과적으로 질소산화물을 저감하였으며 배기가스재순환율이 높을수록 질소산화물의 저감율도 증가하였다.

RESEARCH ON MODULARIZED DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT BASED ON MULTI-DRIVER OFF-ROAD VEHICLE DRIVING-LINE

  • The multi-driver off-road vehicle drive-line consists of many components, with close connections among them. In order to design and analyze the drive-line efficiently, a modular methodology should be taken. The aim of a modular approach to the modeling of complex systems is to support behavior analysis and simulation in an iterative and thus complex engineering process, by using encapsulated submodels of components and of their interfaces. Multi-driver off-road vehicles are comparatively complicated. The driving-line is an important core part to the vehicle, it has a significant contribution to the performance. Multi-driver off-road vehicles have complex driving-lines, so performance is heavily dependent on the driving-line. A typical off-road vehicle's driving-line system consists of a torque converter, transmission, transfer case and driving-axles, which transfers the power generated by the engine and distributes it effectively to the driving wheels according to the road condition. According to its main function, this paper proposes a modularized approach for design and evaluation of the vehicle's driving-line. It can be used to effectively estimate the performance of the driving-line during the concept design stage. Through an appropriate analysis and assessment method, an optimal design can be reached. This method has been applied to practical vehicle design, it can improve the design efficiency and is convenient to assess and validate the performance of a vehicle, especially of multi-driver off-road vehicles.

NOx와 PM 배출물 특성을 고려한 오프로드 디젤 엔진의 강건 설계에 관한 연구 (Study of Robust Design of a Off-road Diesel Engine considering Emission characteristics of NOx and PM)

  • 적극적인 환경보호를 위해 그동안 상대적으로 소홀하였던 오프로드 엔진에 대한 배기가스 배출 규제가 강화되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 NOx와 PM 배출물 특성을 고려하여 오프로드 디젤 엔진의 강건 설계를 수행하였다. 이를 위하여 실험계획법에 따라 배출물 NOx와 PM의 측정 실험을 수행하고 다구찌 기법으로 망소 SN 비를 산출하고 분산 분석을 수행하였다. NOx와 PM 배출량에 영향을 미치는 제어 인잘로 인젝터 홀 수, 연료 분사 시기, EGR 율을 선택하였으며 각 제어 인자에 대하여 2 또는 3 수준을 고려하여 직교 배열표를 작성하였고, 이에 근거하여 실험을 수행하였다. 망소 SN 비를 산출하고 델타 통계량을 계산하였다. 저부하 운전 조건에서는 분사 시기가 NOx 배출량에 가장 큰 영향을 미치며, EGR 율이 PM 배출량에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 결과를 얻었다. 제어 인자들에 대한 신뢰수준은 90% 이상이었다.
