The purpose of this study is to develop a new makeup-kit brand for education, analyzing customer satisfaction of makeup-kits used in makeup lessons provided by lifelong education centers of colleges. The research method is as follows. In order to understand the current status of the kits used in makeup lessons offered by lifelong education centers of colleges in South Korea, the study conducted a survey from October 10 of 2014 to October 31 via fax, telephone and e-mail targeting these 98 colleges that were open makeup-courses available in October 2014. As for an analysis technique, the study used a frequency analysis. In order to develop a makeup-kit brand, the study investigated these makeup-kits as well and presented a BI draft and a makeup-kit design that the study had created for itself using Photoshop CS6 and Illustrator CS4. According to findings of the survey, the students were not satisfied with kits that had too many items, were high in price and had poor case design. In the light of that, the study conducted to develop a low to middle priced makeup-kit ranging from 110,000 KRW and 150,000 KRW with approximately 26 items. In terms of a case design, black was a dominant color which would make the case feel simple and modern. Dimensions of a small size makeup-kit container were 22cm*35cm*37cm with a sponge and rubber pad proposed as product ideas. The study also worked on a BI design.
Water and soil properties in paddy fields subjected to organic and conventional farming were characterized over the rice cycle in South Korea. To achieve the goals of this study, we sampled and analyzed soil and water from 24 organic paddy plots and 11 conventional paddy plots in March, May, August, and October 2016. The results were analyzed using statistical analyses, including analysis of variance (ANOVA), cluster analysis, and principal component analysis. The ANOVA results showed that water content (WC), electrical conductivity (EC), organic matter (OM), and available phosphorus ($P_2O_5$) in soil varied significantly (p < 0.01) depending on the farming method. Higher OM, EC, and $P_2O_5$ of soil were observed in the conventional paddies than in the organic paddies. All soil properties, except pH and ammonium, depended on seasonal variation. Cluster analysis revealed that soil properties in May were distinctly separated from those in other seasons mainly due to basal fertilization. The principal component analysis distinguished the soil properties in different seasons, but such a distinction was not observed between the soil properties in organic and conventional paddies. Low contents of WC, OM, and total N were observed in March. High concentrations of nitrate and total P were observed in May, but these were low in August and October. The soils from October were also characterized by high concentrations of EC and $P_2O_5$. These results indicate that the sampling time for soil and water can significantly influence the evaluation of soil properties with different farming methods.

The purpose of this paper is to explore the fishing grounds of trawl fishery, which are operating in the waters around Jeju Island, and to investigate the monthly shifting changes of the explored fishing grounds. Information on AIS of fishing vessels operating near Jeju Island was collected and analyzed from October 16, 2016 to October 16, 2017. Thus, the location of fishing vessels with the same operational characteristics as those in this industry was extracted and displayed on Google Maps' location drawings to analyze the dense distribution of fishing vessels according to the frequency of their appearance. In the distribution of fishing vessels that appeared in October, a wide range of fishing grounds connecting the upper and lower waters of the 221 and 222 sea of fishing area was found to have gradually expanded and increased density, showing the widest range and highest density in December, and then gradually decreasing from January 2017 to near extinction in May. The distribution of fishing vessels that appeared in the left and lower waters of the 243 sea estuary increased not only in November and December, but also in the appearing sea areas gradually moved to the 242 sea and the range of their appearance was extended to the 241 sea. In other words, the highly dense fishing area in December indirectly shows that it is winter fishing grounds for these industries. The distribution of these dense fishing vessels gradually moved north and west with each passing day, reducing their density and reaching a near extinction in August. However, in September, the density was gradually restored again. Fishing vessels that appeared in high density in the northern waters of the 224 sea east of the Yeoseo island in December were thought to be fishing vessels, whose density decreased over time, almost disappeared in May, and reappeared in July and August, showing a certain degree of density, and then decreased again.
This study analyzed the characteristics of strong winds accompanying typhoons for a period of 116 years, from 1904 to 2019, when modern weather observations began in Korea. Analysis shows that the average wind speed and high wind rate caused by typhoons were higher over the sea and in the coastal areas than in the inland areas. The average wind speed was higher over the West Sea than over the South Sea, but the rate of strong wind was greater over the South Sea than over the West Sea. The average wind speed decreased by 1980 and recently increased, while the rate of strong winds decreased by 1985 and has subsequently increased. By season, the strong winds in autumn (september and october) were stronger than those in summer (june, july, and august). Strong winds were also more frequent in autumn than in summer. The analysis of the changes in strong winds caused by typhoons since the 1960s shows that the speed of strong winds in august, september, and october has increased more recently than in the past four cycles. In particular, the increase in wind speed was evident in fall (september and october). Analysis of the results suggests that the stronger wind is due to the effects of autumn typhoons, and the increased possibility of strong winds.

Background : Palivizumab is an intravenous monoclonal antibody which is used in the prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. It is currently recommended for infants who are at high-risk for RSV infections due to preterm birth or other medical conditions such as congenital heart disease. Palivizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody directed against an epitope in the antigenic site A of the protein F of RSV particles. Palivizumab is given once a month via intramuscular (IM) injection throughout the duration of the RSV season. Since palivizumab is known to have preventive effects against RSV infection for children with older siblings, the insurance coverage for palivizumab was expanded in October 2016. Methods : The electronic medical records of children under 2 years old who have older siblings who visited or were admitted to the Severance Hospital from October 2015 to May 2016 and from October 2016 to May 2017 were reviewed retrospectively. The data were then divided into two groups depending on the pilivizumab administration. Results : A total of 67 patients were enrolled in this study. The effectiveness in the reduction of hospitalization was statistically significant (p=0.009). Palivizumab decreased respiratory symptoms such as cough, rhinorrhea, and fever in patients with older siblings (p 0.05). Conclusions : In this study, palivizumab administration was effective in preventing RSV infection in infants with older siblings. Expanding palivizumab-prophylaxis administration to infants with older siblings may be effective in the prevention of upper respiratory infections.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in public recognition of parabens on Twitter and the research status of parabens related to toothpaste. Methods: Tweet information between 2010 and October 2016 was collected by an automatic web crawler and examined according to tweet frequency, key words (2012-October 2016), and issue tweet detection analyses to reveal changes in public recognition of parabens on Twitter. To investigate the research status of parabens related to toothpaste, queries such as "paraben," "paraben and toxicity," "paraben and (toothpastes or dentifrices)," and "paraben and (toothpastes or dentifrices) and toxicity" were used. Results: The number of tweets concerning parabens sharply increased when parabens in toothpaste emerged as a social issue (October 2014), and decreased from 2015 onward. However, toothpaste and its related terms were continuously included in the core key words extracted from tweets from 2015. They were not included in key words before 2014, indicating that the emergence of parabens in toothpaste as a social issue plays an important role in public recognition of parabens in toothpaste. The issue tweet analysis also confirmed the change in public recognition of parabens in toothpaste. Despite the expansion of public recognition of parabens in toothpaste, there are only seven research articles on the topic in PubMed. Conclusions: The general public clearly recognized parabens in toothpaste after emergence of parabens in toothpaste as a social issue. Nevertheless, the scientific information on parabens in toothpaste is very limited, suggesting that the efforts of dental scientists are required to expand scientific knowledge related to parabens in oral hygiene measures.

The maturity and spawning of the large yellow croaker Larmichthys crocea were investigated using samples randomly collected in the Jeju coastal area, Korea. We analyzed monthly changes in maturity stages, gonadosomatic index (GSI), and egg diameter. Additionally, we verified fecundity by size class and total length (TL) at sexual group maturity at 50%, 75%, and 97.5%, as well as by sex ratio (female vs. male). The overall sex ratio of females to males was 1:0.42. The GSI values showed a peak in October, but the spawning season, revealed by the microscopic analysis of gonadal tissue of L. crocea was from October 2021 to March 2022, with the main spawning period from October to November. The fecundity (F) of female L. crocea ranged from 39,232 eggs at 20 to 29.9 cm to 251,003 eggs at 50 to 59.9 cm, with the relationship between TL and F being 80.244TL-1641.6. In females, TL at 50%, 75%, and 97.5% maturity was 22.4, 24.3, and 29.0 cm, respectively.
An ichneumon-fly, Megarhyssa jezoensis Matsumura, was found as a parasite of Sirex nitobei Matsumura, a pest insect of the walnut, Juglans sinensis Maximowicz, at Ye-San, Choong-Nam province, middle Korea. The life cycle of Megarhyssa jezoensis was as follows: 1. It occurred three times a year. The adults appear at the end of April to the middle of May (maximum on 5th May) after hibernation, at the beginning to the middle of July (maximum on 10 th July) in the first generatioin, and at the end of September to the end of October (maximum on 8 th October) in the second. 2. The larvae grew from the beginning of May to the end of June in the first generation, from the middle of July to the beginning of September in the second and from the beginning of October to the end of the year in the last. 3. The pupae developed from the end of June to the middle of July and from the end of August to the middle of September. 4. The adults oviposited their eggs on the surface of the host, the larvae in Sirex nitobei growing in the stem of the walnut, and the larvae hatched from the eggs were ectoparasiting the larvae of Sirex to grow and pupate. The parasite hibernated in the pupal stage but the adult which emerged at the early spring stayed in the hole of the walnut stem till the end of April.
Accurate field crop classification is essential for various agricultural applications, yet existing methods face challenges due to diverse crop types and complex field conditions. This study aimed to address these issues by combining support vector machine (SVM) models with multi-seasonal unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) images, texture information extracted from Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM), and RGB spectral data. Twelve high-resolution UAV image captures spanned March-October 2021, while field surveys on three dates provided ground truth data. We focused on data from August (-A), September (-S), and October (-O) images and trained four support vector classifier (SVC) models (SVC-A, SVC-S, SVC-O, SVC-AS) using visual bands and eight GLCM features. Farm maps provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs proved efficient for open-field crop identification and served as a reference for accuracy comparison. Our analysis showcased the significant impact of hyperparameter tuning (C and gamma) on SVM model performance, requiring careful optimization for each scenario. Importantly, we identified models exhibiting distinct high-accuracy zones, with SVC-O trained on October data achieving the highest overall and individual crop classification accuracy. This success likely stems from its ability to capture distinct texture information from mature crops.Incorporating GLCM features proved highly effective for all models, significantly boosting classification accuracy.Among these features, homogeneity, entropy, and correlation consistently demonstrated the most impactful contribution. However, balancing accuracy with computational efficiency and feature selection remains crucial for practical application. Performance analysis revealed that SVC-O achieved exceptional results in overall and individual crop classification, while soybeans and rice were consistently classified well by all models. Challenges were encountered with cabbage due to its early growth stage and low field cover density. The study demonstrates the potential of utilizing farm maps and GLCM features in conjunction with SVM models for accurate field crop classification. Careful parameter tuning and model selection based on specific scenarios are key for optimizing performance in real-world applications.

The size distribution, maturation, and molting stages of the snow crab Chionoecetes opilio in the coastal sea of Gyeongbuk were investigated to understand its monthly and bathymetric occurrence patterns. C. opilio was collected from three depth strata (A1, 100-120 m; A2, 120-180 m; A3, 180-220 m) from May to November 2020. The average sex ratio was 0.8. The mean carapace width was largest in females in October, and in males in November. The occurrence rate of small immature crabs was the highest in A1. The ratio of ovigerous females at 75-80 mm was highest at A2 and A3. There was a significant difference in carapace width in females and depth in both sexes in September and October. The occurrence rate of immature crabs was the highest in A1, whereas that ovigerous and spawned females was higher in A2 and A3 than in A1. Very old-shelled females occurred highly in September and October. The occurrence rate of newly shelled males was higher throughout the study period. This research indicated that the size distribution, maturation conditions, and molting stages of C. opilio varied with water depth strata in the coastal sea of Gyeongbuk, Korea.
