A study on the classroom application of observation assessment of mathematics assessments (수학 학습 평가에서의 관찰평가 현장 적용에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to provide practical ways to apply observation assessments in classrooms. Observation assessments have been asserted to assess elements of mathematical processes which cannot be effectively assessed in traditional paper-and-pencil tests. In order to propose the ways for teachers to actively use observation assessment of mathematics assessments, relevant instruments were developed by analyzing a number of related theories. The observation assessments were applied in classroom settings and the results of this application were analyzed. The findings from this study are expected to suggest beneficial implications for teachers who are interested in practicing observation assessments in classrooms.

Correlation between Real-Time and Off-Time Subjective Assessments and Physiological Responses for Visual Picture Stimulus (시각자극에 대한 실시간 및 비 실시간 주관적 평가와 생리반응과의 상관관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to approve the capability of human sensibility evaluation based on physiological responses and real-time subjective assessments. Three well-trained healthy human subjects were participated in the experiments. We measured physiological responses such as Heart Rate Variability(HRV), Galvanic Skin Response(GSR) and skin temperature under rest and visual stimulation conditions, respectively. Off-time subjective assessments were recorded before and after visual stimulations. Real-time subjective assessments were recorded during visual stimulations. The results of physiological responses and off-time and real-time subjective assessments were quantified and compared. The results showed that the correlation between physiological responses and real-time subjective assessments was high (83%) for both the positive and negative visual stimulation. The correlation between the physiological responses and off-time subjective assessments was high (83%) for the negative visual stimulation but was low (15%) for the positive visual stimulation. Although the current observation is preliminary and requires more careful experimental study, it appears that the correlation between real-time subjective assessment and physiological responses is higher than that of the off-time subjective assessment and physiological responses.

Knowledge, Performance, and Incidence Rate of Pressure Injury Using Skin Observation Records in Long-Term Care Hospitals (피부관찰기록지 이용여부에 따른 요양병원 간호 인력의 욕창간호 지식과 수행도 및 욕창발생률)

  • Purpose: To demonstrate the importance of comprehensive skin observation as an effective intervention for pressure injury prevention in elderly long-term care hospital patients. Methods: The survey was conducted with 70 nursing staff members working at two long-term care hospitals with 200 beds or less in D city. Data were collected from October 16 to October 23, 2019 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, the chi-square test, and the independent t-test with the SPSS 25.0 program. Results: Nursing care knowledge for pressure injury was similar between the two groups. Conversely, nursing care performance for pressure injury degree of the nursing staff in the hospital using skin observation records performed better than those who did not (t=6.11, p<.001). Furthermore, comprehensive skin assessments in long-term care hospitals using skin observation records showed a lower incidence rate of pressure injury than that showed using general skin assessments (t=-5.28, p=.006). Conclusions: Comprehensive skin assessment is important for pressure injury prevention in elderly long-term care hospital patients. To implement this effectively, it is necessary to devise institutional regulations, guidelines, and systematic education programs.

The Assessments of Prognotic Factors on Sensorineural Hearing Loss And The Clinical Study with Acupuncture Treatment (감각신경성 난청의 예후 인자에 대한 평가와 침구 치료에 대한 임상적 고찰)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was clinical observation about sensorineural hearing loss compare with acupucture treatment and assessments of prognotic factors. Methods : This study was clinical observation about sensorineural hearing loss cases. for diagnosing in these cases, pure tone audiometry was used. The treatment, acupuncture was used. Results : Three patients(37.5%) remarkably improved, one patient(12.5%), slightly improved, four patients(50%), no change. Conclusions : These results suggest that the prognosis by age and initial hearing threshold was significant. The treatment on sensorineural hearing loss considered that bone condution improved.

Current Trend in Use of Occupational Therapy Assessment Tool by Pediatric Occupational Therapist (국내 아동 작업치료사의 평가도구 사용 동향)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate trend in use of occupational therapy assessment tools used by pediatric occupational therapist. Methods : Survey questionnaire developed for this study were used to for data collection. The questionnaires are divided into 10 area: occupational performance, activities of daily living, education, play, sensory-perceptual, motor and praxis, cognition, social interaction skills, development, and physical examination. Total 105 responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics analysis and frequency analysis. Results : For the general process of evaluation in pediatric occupational therapy, major response on the initial evaluation time was 30~60minutes (41.9%), and major response on the re-evaluation period was 3~6months (41.0%). The major assessment tool for each area Canadian Occupation Performance Measure (55.2%) for occupational performance assessments, Wee Functional Independence Measure (57.1%) for activities of daily living assessments, School Function Assessment (2.5%) for education assessments, Knox Preschool Play Scale (28.6%) for play assessments, Developmental Test of Visual Perception (94.3%) for sensory-perceptual assessments, Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency (42.9%) for motor and praxis assessments, Evaluation of Social Interaction (6.1%) for social interaction skills assessments, Denver Developmental Screening Test (92.4%) for development assessments, Clinical Observation (89.5%) for physical examination assessments. Conclusion : The study identified the most assessment tools used for specific area by pediatric occupational therapists. The results can be used as a basic data to educate about pediatric occupational therapy evaluation, as well as to develop new assessment tools in pediatric setting in future.

Development of a Three-Dimensional Chemotaxis Model for a Single Bacterium (3 차원 모델을 통한 단일 박테리아의 주화성 연구)

  • Cell migration is one of the essential mechanisms responsible for complex biological processes. Intensive researches have begun to elucidate the mechanisms and search intriguing conditions for efficient control of cell migration. One general mechanism that is widely applicable for cells including Escherichia coli, amoebae and endothelial cell is chemotaxis. The single cell study for bacterial chemotaxis has an advantage over studies with the population of cells in providing a clearer observation of cell migration, which leads to more accurate assessments of chemotaxis. In this paper, we propose a three-dimensional model considering a single bacterium to study its chemotaxis. The semi-implicit Fourier spectral method is applied for high efficiency and numerical stability. The simulation results reveal rich dynamics of cell migration and provide quantitative assessments of bacterial chemotaxis with various chemoattractant gradient fields.

Vertical Analysis of Wind Speed over South Korea for the Flight Safety of HALE UAV (장기체공무인기의 운항안전을 위한 남한지역 고도별 풍속 분석)

  • We analyzed wind speed over South Korea for HALE UAV(High Altitude Long Endurance Unmaned Aerial Vehicle) flight safety. Annual variation of wind speed at 200 hPa showed that winter season was stronger than summer. According to latitude, wind speeds in January and August were found to be $52{\sim}74m\;s^{-1}$ and $15{\sim}26m\;s^{-1}$, respectively. Wind speed was stronger(weaker) at lower latitudes than higher latitudes in winter(summer). Frequency(%) of wind speed less than threshold value($18m\;s^{-1}$) for the operation date was investigated. The days showing the frequency greater than 60 % in all altitudes of surface ~ 50 hPa showed the range of 1 ~ 33 days at 7 stations. Operation date was the longest period at Gosan. The appropriate date of HALE UAV operation at Gosan and Osan is considered as the middle of July ~ middle of August and end of July ~ early August, respectively. These results can be used to determine the operation date of HALE UAV.

  • This study gives opportunity for investigating how student teachers view the teaching profession and how they transfer their pedagogical knowledge into practice. The aim of the study is to investigate the teaching skills student teachers gained in the assessment of micro teaching of their peers. The participants are 30 mathematics student teachers enrolled in the teacher training program in a state university. Document analysis and semi-structured interviews are the research instruments and inferential & descriptive statistics are used for the data analysis. The findings suggest that the qualitative and quantitative peer assessments of student teachers were graded differently which results from the difference of perceptions about teaching and different conceptualizations of the teaching qualifications.

  • Visual observation and subjective assessments lack the objective evaluation of laser therapy effects of the epidermal pigmented lesions. In this study, we proposed the two methods; One is CIE(Commission International d'Eclairage) $L^*,\;a^*,\;b^*$ coordinate system($L^*$ : brightness, $a^*$ : red(+) $\sim$green(-) content, $b^*$ : yellow(+) $\sim$blue(-) content), and the other is the relative color difference measurement. And we applied these two methods for quantitative evaluation of the laser therapy effects.
