  • This paper proposes a systematic design methodology for the Takagi-Sugeno (TS) model based fuzzy state feedback control system with multi-objectives. In this investigation, the objectives are set to be guaranteed stability and pre-specified transient performance, and this scheme is applied to a nonlinear magnetic bearing system. More significantly, in the proposed methodology, the control design problems that consider both stability and desired transient performance are reduced to the standard LMI problems. Therefore, solving these LMI constraints directly (not trial and error) lead to a fuzzy state-feedback controller such that the resulting fuzzy control system meets the above two objectives. Simulation and experimentation results show that the Proposed LMI-based design methodology yields not only maximized stability boundary but also the desired transient responses.

  • The purpose of this study is to classify and state of evaluating objectives using three-dimensional assessment framework of science inquiry. The first, as an attempt to provide a theoretical base for developing an assessment framework taxonomies and classificatory schemes of educational objectives were analyzed Bloom's taxonomy, Klopfer's specification, NAEP(National Assessment of Educational Progress), and APU(Assessment of Performance Unit) framework. The second, three-dimensional assessment framework use in this study has formed a clear definition of three-dimensional matrix. These three dimensions consists of content, context and process. The third, the model of three-dimensional taxonomy of science inquiry developed in this study is presented. In addition, an example of classification and statement of evaluating objectives based on the model is presented.

  • We propose a strategic R&D resource allocation and project selection model based on national R&D policy and objectives. First, contributions to R&D policy and objectives for each R&D area are evaluated by using analytical hierarchy process (AHP). Second, fuzzy Delphi are proposed to estimate R&D budget for each R&D area. Then, a project selection grid is also introduced to implement two-phased evaluation for R&D project selection. We also discuss how to improve the consistency in AHP and how to reduce the pairwise comparison in AHP. The proposed model enables the decision makers to allocate R&D budget, and to evaluate and select the R&D proposals based on both the contribution to national R&D policy and objectives, and the size of each R&D area concurrently.

  • The main results of this study were as follows :(1) the more objectives for environmental education in science textbooks of Korea were focused on “awareness of the environment”. While the objectives of the Project WILD of Canada were balanced between each objectives. (2) the more environmental skills in science textbooks of Korea were focused on ‘observation’ and ‘description’, while the environmental skills of the Project WILD of Canada for environmental education focused on ‘analysis’ and ‘observation’. The environmental skills for the environmental education in the science textbooks of Korea were concentrated on ‘observation ’ and ‘description’, while the Project WILD of Canada were balanced between each skills for investigating the environment and the environmental problems. (3) the instructional procedures in science textbooks of Korea for the environmental education were very similar between each activities of the science textbooks, while the instructional procedures of the Project WILD of Canada were very different, and these procedures were very useful for educating the environmental behaviors.

  • This paper deals with a cell formation problem for a set of m-machines and n-processing parts. Generally, a cell formation problem is known as NP-completeness. Hence the cell formation problem with multiple objectives is more difficult than single objective problem. The paper considers multiple objectives; minimize number of intercell movements, minimize intracell workload variation and minimize intercell workload variation. We propose a multiple objective genetic algorithms(MOGA) resolving the mentioned three objectives. The MOGA procedure adopted Pareto optimal solution for selection method for next generation and the concept of Euclidean distance from the ideal and negative ideal solution for fitness test of a individual. As we consider several weights, decision maker will be reflected his consideration by adjusting high weights for important objective. A numerical example is given for a comparative analysis with the results of other research.

  • In this paper, a systematic methodology is proposed for developing an outcome-based undergraduate Industrial and Systems Engineering Program at the Systems Engineering Department of King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) in Saudi Arabia. This program is an upgrade of the Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IE/OR) option, which has been in existence since 1984 and has been revised several times since then. The methodology and process used is motivated by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) 2000 criteria and has been employed to develop the program's objectives and outcomes. Subsequently, a curriculum is designed that is expected to deliver the objectives and outcomes. The paper presents the methodology, objectives, outcomes and the developed curriculum of the outcome-based program.

  • Simulation is commonly used to find the best values of decision variables for problems which defy analytical solutions. "Simulation Optimization" technique is used to optimize the expressed in analytical of mathematical models. In this research, we will study Reverse-Simulation optimization method which is quite different from current simulation optimization methods in literature. We will focus on the on-line determination of steady-state method which is very important issue in Reverse-Simulation optimization, and the construction of Reverse-Simulation algorithm with expert systems. Especially, in the case of multiple objectives because of the dependency of simulation model, all objectives do not satisfied simulataneously. In this paper, therefore, we process simulation optimization using objectives with priority to optimize multiple objectives under single run.ingle run.

  • The purpose of this article is to depict the relationship between the frames of leadership and the dependent variables such as job satisfaction, respect from subordinates, promotion, and effective attainment of unit objectives. To attain this purpose, for types of multiple leadership frames, such as structural, human resources, political, and symbolic frames were surveyed through questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS. The major findings are : 1) In general, the symbolic frame is an important factor having a stronger influence on job satisfaction, respect from subordinates, promotion, and effective attainment of unit objectives. 2) In details, the human resources frame shows a positive effects on job satisfaction and respect; the structural frame on effective attainment of unit objectives; the political frame, to a certain degree, on promotion; and the symbolic frame, especially on respect from subordinates, promotion, and effective attainment of unit objectives.

  • The objectives of this study were to identify current problems and to propose alternatives of woodworking education in school. This study was carried out through the literature review. Even though woodworking in school has a lot of merits, it has not been fully established yet. Current problems in school woodworking were identified as the absence of educational philosophy of woodworking, unambiguous education objectives, incongruity of educational contents and hierarchy, inadequate quality of teachers, poor surroundings for practice, lack of ancillary materials for teaching and learning, and the absence of community for interchanging information. It was proposed that educational philosophy of woodworking and concrete education objectives should be set up, educational contents should be organized in a proper level, and surroundings for practice should be improved. And, it was also proposed that teacher education should be made to upgrade qualities of teachers, ancillary materials for teaching and learning should be developed, and community for interchanging information should be set up.

  • As the weapon systems of the 21st century are becoming more and more performance /technoloriven, it is only becoming more expensive to obtain the weapon systems. Therefore, it is absolutely vital for every nation to find a way to reduce cost objectives. As CAIV is a strategy that entails setting aggressive, yet realistic cost objectives when defining operational requirements and acquiring defense systems and managing achievement of these objectives, we believe that it is essential for us to find out what it is and how we can adopt it so that we can provide ourselves with highly capable systems that are affordable. Therefore, In this paper we will give a brief overview of CAIV that is one of the main acquisition strategies adopted by DoD of U.S. including some case studies of CAIV. Furthermore, the paper will analyze stated cost objectives in our country and suggest realistic opportunities for cost reduction.
