The web-based group collaborative systems are emerging as enterprise-wide information systems. Since data in group collaborative systems are apt to be shared among multiple concurrent users and modified simutaneously by them, the web-based group collaborative systems must support synchronous collaboration in order to provide users with synchronized and consistent views of shared data. This Paper proposes an active web server which can facilitate synchronous collaboration in web-based group collaborative systems. To accomplish such a goal, the active web server manages dependency relationships between shared data and web browsers referencing them and actively propagates changing details of the shared data to all web browsers referencing them. And, this paper examines usefullness and effectiveness of the active web server to apply it to the ball-bearing design example of concurrent engineering design systems. The prototype system of the active web server is developed on a commercial Object-oriented Database Management System (ODBMS) called OBJECTSTORE using the C＋＋ programming language.

This paper proposes the way to analyse XML docuements according to the element information. XML documents, which are becoming new standard for expressing and exchanging data in the Internet, don't have defined schema. It is not adequate to directly apply XML documents to the existing relational database or object-oriented database query language. Research on how to extract schema for XML documents and query language is going on actively For users' query, the results could be too many or too less. It is important to give the users adequate results. Our proposed analysis method can be reduced or extended to correspond to the users' query more flexibly.

This paper discusses a set of critical requirements in building and using a shared, integrated information management system for power distribution management and control. It then proposes a modem, object-oriented information system model for building such a system based on the current state of arts in database, GIS, and WWW technologies. The key of the proposal is that the shared database system should be the basis of integration efforts in power distribution management and control. A small-scale prototype is being developed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model.

최근 웹의 놀랄만한 성장으로 인터넷에 존재하는 데이터의 양은 기하 급수적으로 증가하고 있다. 이와 같은 방대한 양의 데이터를 체계적으로 관리, 검색하기 위해 데이터베이스 관리 시스템의 사용이 절실해지고, 웹 상에서 데이터베이스를 사용하기 위한 웹과 데이터베이스의 연동 방법에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 그러나 현재까지 웹과 데이터베이스의 연동을 위해 개발된 웹-데이타베이스 게이트웨이는 응용 프로그램 작성의 편의상과 범용 프로그래밍 기능을 동시에 제공하지 못하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 객체지향 멀티미디어 데이터베이스 관리 시스템인 오디세우스를 위한 웹-데이타베이스 게이트웨이를 설계하고 구현한다. 본 논문에서 구현한 웹-데이타베이스 게이트웨이는 웹과 데이터베이스의 연동 방식으로 서버 전용 API 방식을 사용하기 때문에 사용자의 요청을 보다 빠르게 처리할 수 있다. 또한 본 논문에서 구현한 웹-데이타베이스 게이트웨이는 HTML 페이지 작성만으로 응용 프로그램 개발이 가능하므로 사용자가 보다 쉽게 웹 기반 데이터베이스 응용 프로그램을 개발할 수 있으며, 범용 프로그래밍 언어로 작성된 함수를 HTML 페이지 내에서 수행할 수 있는 기능을 제공하므로 다양한 웹 기반 데이터베이스 응용 프로그램을 개발할 수 있다.

본 연구는 PC 상에서 GPS와 TotalStation을 이용하여 도시 기반 시설물 관리 시스템을 구축함으로써 기존의 유닉스 기반 도시 기반 시설물 관리 시스템보다 적은 시간과 비용을 투자하여 시스템을 구축할 수 있었고, 대상지의 기준점을 DGPS 방식을 이용하여 좌표취득후, 이를 바탕으로 도면자료를 구축함으로써 기존 스캐닝 또는 디지타이징을 사용한 것보다 정확도의 향상을 기하였다. 또 속성자료에 영상자료를 동시에 수록함으로써 텍스트 자료 외에 멀티미디어 데이터베이스의 구축 가능성을 시도하였다.

The development of Reinforced Concrete member design modules is necessary for user to design structures easily. The purpose of this paper is to be available for a integrated system used structure design. This module is linked with central database for the benefit of minimizing time of design and user's efforts. In order to minimize memory space, all of data is stored in central database. Member design modules applied Object-Oriented concepts are possible to be reusible, flexible for member functions in classes. This modules can be operated both independent member design modules and a part of integrated system. Sooner or later, this modules will be related to member grouping modules by data.

객체지향 데이터베이스 시스템에서 많이 연구되고 있는 묵시적 권한부여(implicit authorization) 방법은 모든 객체에 대하여 일일이 권한을 부여하는 오버헤드를 줄이기 위한 방법이다. 묵시적 권한부여 방법에서는 기존의 권한과 새로이 추가될 권한간의 충돌(conflict) 여부의 효율적인 검사가 중요하다. 기존의 데이터베이스 단위 계층 구조( database granularity hierarchy)에서의 의도형 권한부여(intention type authorization) 기법은 자신의 자손 노드에 대한 권한을 쉽게 판정할 수는 있지만, 클래스 복합 계층 구조(class composition hierarchy)상에서의 임의의 한 노드 ni에 추가로 권한을 부여할 때 ni의 자손 노드와 복합 참조(composite reference)의 관계를 가지는 노드 nj들에 대한 권한과의 충돌 여부를 탐지하기 위하여 추가로 nj들에 대한 권한을 일일이 탐색해야 하는 어려움이 있었다. 본 논문에서는 클래스 복합 계층 구조에서의 묵시적 권한부여 하에서 발생할 수 있는 권한간의 충돌을 효율적으로 탐지하는 새로운 기법을 확장하여 제안한다. 제안된 복합 계층 의도형 권한부여(intention type authorization for composition hierarchy)기법은 계층 구조에서 복합 참조의 관계를 따라 nj를 일일이 탐색할 필요 없이 노드 ni에서 바로 충돌 여부를 판정할 수 있는 장점을 가진다.

핵연료 밀집공정의 조업을 보조하는 전문가시스템 모형을 개발하였다. 시스템의 지식기반은 3개의 데이타베이스와 60개의 규칙을 객체지향 방법에 의해 설계되었다. 본 전문가시스템은 핵연료 밀집시설의 물질계량관리 영역에서 핵물질의 이동 상황을 추적하여 체계적으로 데이터베이스화하고, 정상 및 비정상조업 조건하에서 현 운전상황을 진단하며, 비정상 조업상황을 적절히 회복할 수 있게 조업자에게 필요한 정보를 제공하여, 효과적으로 핵연료 밀집시설의 공정조업을 이룰 수 있도록 하였다.

As a fundamental knowledge source in a global learning environment, it is feasible to apply the relational database management systems (RDBMS), object-oriented database management systems (OODBMS), and other traditional DBMS. However, the traditional DBMSs are not feasible in semantic knowledge/ontology representation and inference. One of the reasonable ways to overcome the limitations is the semantic web-based business support framework. Especially, in this study, we focused on the development of semantic web ontology and natural language (NL)-based inference framework. To validate the efficiency of the proposed framework, we considered a reasonable scenario for course recommendation in a university.

Previous research on data extraction and integration for data warehousing has concentrated mainly on the relational DBMS or partly on the object-oriented DBMS. Mostly, it describes issues related with the change data (deltas) capture and the incremental update by using the triggering technique of active database systems. But, little attention has been paid to data extraction approaches from other types of source systems like hierarchical DBMS, etc. and from source systems without triggering capability. This paper argues, from the practical point of view, that we need to consider not only the types of information sources and capabilities of ETT tools but also other factors of source systems such as operational characteristics (i.e., whether they support DBMS log, user log or no log, timestamp), and DBMS characteristics (i.e., whether they have the triggering capability or not, etc), in order to find out appropriate data extraction techniques that could be applied to different source systems. Having applied several different data extraction techniques (e.g., DBMS log, user log, triggering, timestamp-based extraction, file comparison) to S bank's source systems (e.g., IMS, DB2, ORACLE, and SAM file), we discovered that data extraction techniques available in a commercial ETT tool do not completely support data extraction from the DBMS log of IMS system. For such IMS systems, a new date extraction technique is proposed which first creates Index database and then updates the data warehouse using the Index database. We illustrates this technique using an example application.
