In this paper, we implemented a web-based 3D virtual pottery gallery Using VR authoring tools. With this system, we expect to cause learning motives and Provide more realistic and interactive learning space. Out system was implemented by making panorama images and 3D object modules using Photo Vista. Object Modeler and Reality Studio. Users can connect to this web site(http://artstory.x-y.net), rotate a pottery panoramically, and zoom it in or out. We designed this virtual gallery can have beneficial influence on students' aesthetic aspects through realistic work appreciations in their art education processes.

Although most of all modern Web contents accomplished by passive interface which used 2D, by way of developing super-highway internet net and a 3D compression technology, it gradually changed VR Web3D. In this approach, we presents a recently VR tech. as well as the implementation of Web3D based on VR mapping tools.

VR(Virtual Reality), which provides realistic services in virtual reality, provides a similar experience using a Head Mounted Display(HMD) device. When the HMD device is worn, it can not recognize the surrounding environment and it is easy to analyze the input pattern of the user with the Shoulder Surfing Attack(SSA) when entering the Personal Identification Number(PIN). In this paper, we propose a method to safeguard the user's password even if the hacker analyzes the input pattern while maintaining the user's convenience. For the first time, we implemented a new type of virtual keypad that deviates from the existing rectangle shape according to the VR characteristics and implemented the lock object for intuitive interaction with the user. In addition, a smart glove using the same sensor as the existing input devices of the VR and a PIN input method suitable for the rotary type are implemented and the safety of the SSA is verified through experiments.

Every object emits some energy from its surface. The emission energy forms surface heat distribution which we can capture by using an infrared thermal imager. The infrared thermal image may include valuable information regarding to the subsurface anomaly of the object. Since a thermal image reflects surface clutter and subsurface anomaly, we have difficulty in extracting the information on the subsurface anomaly only with thermal images taken under a wavelength. Thus, we use visible wavelength images of the object surface to remove exterior clutter. We, therefore in this paper, visualize the infrared image for overlaying it with a visible wavelength image. First, we make an interpolated image from two ordinary images taken from both sides of an infrared sensor. Next, we overlay the intermediate image with an infrared image taken from the infrared camera. The technique suggested in this paper can be utilized for analyzing the infrared images on non-destructive inspection against disaster and for safety.
To augment emotion and immersion in virtual reality (VR), technological research based on scent displays have increased in recent years. The results of extensive studies have enabled the development of methods to interface head mounted displays (HMDs) with scent devices, and the possibility of VR applications of this development was identified via several demonstrations in actual VR environments. Despite all these efforts, more practical methods and conditions for scent display in VR environments are yet to be developed. To efficiently interface VR and scent, this study proposes three ways to set the position for scent display and scent conditions. The first is scent display using local positioning in the VR engine, the second is scent display using the relative distance and orientation between user and object in VR environments, and the third is scent display using time setting. In this study, we developed scent devices using a piezo actuator to validate the proposed method and successfully conducted demonstrations and experiments.

The automation of final inspection and tuning process in the manufacturing of electric products is hot issue now, because it is the only part that has not been wholey automized yet, mainly due to the difficulties to handle so small size of VR which is the final tuning point in the most of electric products. For the automation of this process, at first the accurate measurement of position and orientation of SMD VR on PCB in real time is strongly needed. In this paper, a new image processing algorithm to detect the center position and orientation of target VR by using machine vision is proposed for automatic final tuning of the 8mm camcoder's performance. In the method, the outline feature of object is used actively. The usefulness of the proposed methods were tested by several experiments, and the results showed enough accuracy for both of position and orientation. Additatively, we discussed about the total visual system construction and preprocessing of image.

In these days, a vehicle simulator has been developed with a VR(Virtual Reality) system. A VR system must provide a vehicle simulator with natural interaction, sufficient immersion and realistic images. In addition, a VR system must present a driver with the realistic driving situation. To achieve these, it is important to obtain a fast and uniform rendering performance regardless of the complexity of virtual worlds. In this paper, the factors to improve the reality for the VR based vehicle simulator have been investigated. For the purpose, the modeling and the rendering methods which offer an improved performance for complex VR applications as the 3D road model have been implemented and verified. Then, we experiment on the influence of graphic and sound factors to the driver, and analyze each result for improving the reality such as the driver's viewport, the form of texture, the lateral distance of the side object, and the sound effect. These factors are evaluated on the driving system which is constructed for qualitative analysis. The research results could be used for improving the reality of the VR based vehicle simulator.

This paper presents a study on how augmenting semi-synthetic image data improves the performance of human detection algorithms. In the field of object detection, securing a high-quality data set plays the most important role in training deep learning algorithms. Recently, the acquisition of real image data has become time consuming and expensive; therefore, research using synthesized data has been conducted. Synthetic data haves the advantage of being able to generate a vast amount of data and accurately label it. However, the utility of synthetic data in human detection has not yet been demonstrated. Therefore, we use You Only Look Once (YOLO), the object detection algorithm most commonly used, to experimentally analyze the effect of synthetic data augmentation on human detection performance. As a result of training YOLO using the Penn-Fudan dataset, it was shown that the YOLO network model trained on a dataset augmented with synthetic data provided high-performance results in terms of the Precision-Recall Curve and F1-Confidence Curve.
