  • Immersive media videos, such as panorama and 360-degree videos, must provide a sense of realism as if the user visited the space in the video, so they should be able to represent the reality of the real world. However, in panorama and 360-degree videos, objects appear to overlap or disappear due to parallax between cameras, and such parallax distortion may interfere with immersion of the user's content. Accordingly, although many video stitching algorithms have been proposed to overcome parallax distortion, parallax distortion still occurs due to the low performance of the Object detection module and limitations of the Seam generation method. Therefore, this paper analyzes the limitations of the existing video stitching technology and proposes a method for detecting and correcting parallax distortion of video stitching using the LDPM (Local Differential Pixel Mean) image evaluation method that overcomes the limitations of the video stitching technique.

  • In this paper, we developed an omni-directional surveillance and motion detection method. The fish-eye lens provides a wide field of view image. Using this image, the equi-distance model for the fish-eye lens is applied to get the perspective and panorama images. Generally, we must consider the trade-off between resolution and field of view of an image from a camera. To enhance the resolution of the result images, some kind of interpolation methods are applied. Also the moving edge method is used to detect moving objects for the object tracking.

  • In this paper, we propose a panorama-based object tracking scheme for wide-view surveillance systems that can detect and track moving objects with a pan-tilt camera. A dynamic mosaic of the background is progressively integrated in a single image using the camera motion information. For the camera motion estimation, we calculate affine motion parameters for each frame sequentially with respect to its previous frame. The camera motion is robustly estimated on the background by discriminating between background and foreground regions. The modified block-based motion estimation is used to separate the background region. Each moving object is segmented by image subtraction from the mosaic background. The proposed tracking system has demonstrated good performance for several test video sequences.

  • This paper proposes efficient system for multiview images using backward quadtree disparity estimation. Previous quadtree method usually divides current image. In this work, backward quadtree divides reference image. So, it does not need to code quadtree data. For backward quadtree, quadtree information map is generated. By using this map, adaptive dividing is possible. And, conventional bi-directional matching method is used with backward quadtree. These methods increase subject and object quality of decoded test images. For multiview images, panorama synthesizing method was used. Panorama image and right-most image are used for reference image for intermediate view images coding.

  • Computer vision research area, a division of computer graphics application area that creates realistic visualization in computer, conducts vigorously researches on developing realistic 3D model or virtual environment. As the popularization and development of 3D display makes common users easy to experience a solid 3D virtual reality, the demand for virtual reality contents are increasing. This paper proposes 3D panorama system using depth point location-based depth map generation method. 3D panorama using depth map gives an effect that makes users feel staying at real place and looking around nearby circumstances. Also, 3D panorama gives free sight point for both nearby object and remote one and provides solid 3D video.

  • In this paper, we propose the algorithm for making panoramic background and object tacking using pan-tilt-zoom camera. We draw an analogy relation between images for cylinder projection, rearrange of images, stitching, and blending. We can then make the panoramic background, and can track the object use the panoramic background. After generated the background, the proposed algorithm tracks the moving object. Therefore it can detect the wide area, and it tracks the object continuously. So the proposed algorithm is able to use at wide area to detect and track the object.

  • Since the panoramic image can overcome the limitation of the viewing angle of the camera and have a wide field of view, it has been studied effectively in the fields of computer vision and stereo camera. In order to generate a panoramic image, stitching images taken by a plurality of general cameras instead of using a wide-angle camera, which is distorted, is widely used because it can reduce image distortion. The image stitching technique creates descriptors of feature points extracted from multiple images, compares the similarities of feature points, and links them together into one image. Each feature point has several hundreds of dimensions of information, and data processing time increases as more images are stitched. In particular, when a panorama is generated on the basis of an image photographed by a plurality of unspecified cameras with respect to an object, the extraction processing time of the overlapping feature points for similar images becomes longer. In this paper, we propose a preprocessing process to efficiently process stitching based on an image obtained from a number of unspecified cameras for one object or environment. In this way, the data processing time can be reduced by pre-grouping images based on camera sensor information and reducing the number of images to be stitched at one time. Later, stitching is done hierarchically to create one large panorama. Through the grouping preprocessing proposed in this paper, we confirmed that the stitching time for a large number of images is greatly reduced by experimental results.

  • 3D object recognition using only 2D images is a difficult work because each images are generated different to according to the view direction of cameras. Because SIFT algorithm defines the local features of the projected images, recognition result is particularly limited in case of input images with strong perspective transformation. In this paper, we propose the object recognition method that improves SIFT algorithm by using several sequential images captured from rotating 3D object around a rotation axis. We use the geometric relationship between adjacent images and merge several images into a generated feature space during recognizing object. To clarify effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, we keep constantly the camera position and illumination conditions. This method can recognize the appearance of 3D objects that previous approach can not recognize with usually SIFT algorithm.
