  • A great many species of fish congregate in schools, reducing the risk of being eaten by predators and giving one of the considerable survival advantages for fishes. Such a fish school is self-organized only due to individual behaviors for matching the speed and direction with the neighboring fishes. It is interesting to simulate these fish school by small robots, because we can understand how the group structure emerges from the interaction among neighboring individuals. We use a nice simulator for Khepera robot presented by Oliver Michel. It is shown that the Khepera simulator is easily applied to fish school due to the algorithm introduced by I Aoki. The simulator includes sensor noise so appropriately that the simulator can be transferred easily to the real environment. The results of simulation are given as follows: (1) The stability as a group is shown by plotting mean deviations from the center of group ...

  • In this paper the principles and structure of a WTS (Wind Turbine Simulator) are described. The proposed WTS is a versatile system specially designed for the purpose of developing and testing new control strategies for wind energy conversion systems. The simulator includes two sub-systems; a torque controller which controls a 3-phase induction motor in order to simulate the wind turbine and wind speed generator which can simulate an actual wind speed. In order to make the proposed system working in real-time, two sub-systems are incorporated into one simulink block by using Real-time workshop. The performance of the proposed system is verified by considering various wind speeds.

  • The Stewart platform is one example of a motion simulator which generates 6 DOF motion in space by 6 actuators connected in parallel. The present SISO controllers are designed to track displacement command of each actuator computed from reference 6 DOF motion of platform by Stewart platform inverse kinematics. But this type of control can't cope with external load variation, geometric configuration of motion simulator, and different dynamic behavior of 6 DOF motion. In this paper, a multivariable controller using H- optimal control theory is designed for linerized simulator model with each actuator driving force as control input and platform 6 DOF motion as measured output. Nonlinear simulation result of the H$_{\infty}$ MIMO controller is not satisfied in steady-state characteristics. But the proposed H$_{\infty}$ + PI control scheme shows acceptable performance.e.e.

  • The automated chemical analysis shop floor are developed for the environmental pollution problems in our chemical analysis center. This shop floor have the several equipments include weight, pour, dry, heater, boiler, mixture, spectroscopy etc. And the material handling components are made up by the stored stack, conveyore, turntables, robot etc. Computer simulation has been an important tool for these complete design problem. We have designed the arangement of chemical equipments and material flow systems by using the simulator "AutoModII". "AutoMoII" is one of the advanced simulator, CAD-like drawing tools with a powerful, engineering oriented language to model control logic and material flow. The result is the modeling of the chemical analysis system in accurate, three dimensional detail. We could designed the set able layout and scheduling system by using the AutoMoII simulator. • Three-dimensional simulator for thermal oxidation process is developed. The simulator is consisted by two individual module, one is analytic-model module and the other is numerical-model module. The analytic-model which uses simple complementary-error function guarantees fast calculation in prediction of multi-dimensional oxidation process. The numerical-model which is based on boundary element method (BEM), has a good accuracy and suitable for various process conditions. The results of this study show that oxide growth is retarded at the corner of hole structure and enhanced at the corner of island structure. These effects are reson of different distribution of oxidant diffusion and mask stress. The utility of models and simulator developed in this study is demonstrated by using it to predict not only traditional shape of LOCOS but also process effects in small geometry.

  • Driving simulators provide engineers with a power tool in the development and modification stages of vehicle models. One of the most important factors to realistic simulations is the fidelity obtained by a motion bed and a real-time visual image generation algorithm. Virtual reality technology has been widely used to enhance the fidelity of vehicle simulators. This paper develops the virtual environment for such visual system as head-mounted display for a vehicle driving simulator. Virtual vehicle and environment models are constructed using the object-oriented analysis and design approach. Based on the object model, a three-dimensional graphic model is completed with CAD tools such as Rhino and Pro/ENGINEER. For real-time image generation, the optimized IRIS Performer 3D graphics library is embedded with the multi-thread methodology. The developed software for a virtual driving simulator offers an effective interface to virtual reality devices.

  • Simulators have been used to evaluate drivers'reactions to various transportation products. Most researches, however, have been concentrated on their technical performance, thus this paper considers drivers'senses of moving on a vehicle simulator through the analysis of human sensibility ergonomics. A sensibility ergonomic method is proposed in order to improve the faithfulness of vehicle simulators. A simulator of passenger vehicle consists of such three modules as vehicle dynamics, virtual environment, and motion representation modules. To evaluate drivers'feedback, human feelings are categorized into a set verbal expressions collected and investigated to find the most appropriate ones for translational and angular accelerations of the simulator The cutoff frequency of the washout alter ill the representation module is selected as one sensibility factor Sensibility experiments were carried out to find correlation between the expressions and the cut-off frequency of the filter. This study suggests a methodology to obtain an ergonomic database which can be applied to the sensibility evaluation of dynamic simulators.

  • An aircraft simulator for ergonomics testing and pilot training was developed from the joint work Agency for Defense Development(ADD) and Daewoo Heavy Industry, LTD, in Korea at first time. It is basically to satisfy the requirements established by FAA-AC-120-40C ( 1995-JAN-26). The aircraft simulator will be used mainly for ergonomics testing and pilot training for basic trainer on ADD and Korea Air Force in near futrue. This simulator reproduces faithfully the cockpit and flight characteristics of the KTX-1 aircraft. It is one of the latest full flight simulators that have the CGI(computer graphic image) visual system and six degree of freedom motions system. Development efforts focused on user-oriented design approach for ergonomics testing and flight training of pilots. Main characteristics of each subsystem are described such as cockpit, instruments, control loading system, motion system, visual system, aural system, instructor operation station and aircraft simulation softwear.
