DRIVER BEHAVIOR WITH ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

  • As an important and relatively easy to implement technology for realizing Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS), Adaptive Cruise Control(ACC) automatically adjusts vehicle speed and distance to a preceding vehicle, thus enhancing driver comfort and safety. One of the key issues associated with ACC development is usability and user acceptance. Control parameters in ACC should be optimized in such a way that the system does not conflict with driving behavior of the driver and further that the driver feels comfortable with ACC. A driving simulator is a comprehensive research tool that can be applied to various human factor studies and vehicle system development in a safe and controlled environment. This study investigated driving behavior with ACC for drivers with different driving styles using the driving simulator. The ACC simulation system was implemented on the simulator and its performance was evaluated first. The Driving Style Questionnaire(DSQ) was used to classify the driving styles of the drivers in the simulator experiment. The experiment results show that, when driving with ACC, preferred headway-time was 1.5 seconds regardless of the driving styles, implying consistency in driving speed and safe distance. However, the lane keeping ability reduced, showing the larger deviation in vehicle lateral position and larger head and eye movement. It is suggested that integration of ACC and lateral control can enhance driver safety and comfort even further.

상관관계가 존재하는 두 개의 레일리 채널에 대한 페이딩 시뮬레이션 (A New Deterministic Simulation Model for Two Correlated Rayleigh Fading Channels)

  • 본 논문에서는 이동 통신에서 주로 쓰이는 하향/상향링크(downlink/uplink)처럼 상호 간의 상관관계가 존재하는 두 개의 채널에 대한 시뮬레이션 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 기존 방법의 문제점인 채널 간의 상관관계가 수학적 기준모델과 일치하지 않는 점을 개선한 방법이다. 레일리 페이딩 채널 시뮬레이션 모델은 유한개의 삼각함수의 합을 이용한 SOS(Sum-of-Sinusoids) 방법을 사용하였다. 이 방법은 페이딩 신호의 샘플들을 발생할 때 효율적인 방법으로 알려져 있으며 수학적 기준모델에 대한 정확한 시뮬레이션 결과를 얻을 수 있다. 제안된 모델은 기준모델의 이론적인 상관관계와 시뮬레이터로부터 얻은 채널 간의 상관관계의 오차를 줄이기 위해 MSE를 최소화하는 방식을 이용하면서 평균전력을 이론치와 같게 유지하는 방법이다. 실험결과를 통해 제안한 방법이 기존의 방법보다 기준모델의 수학적 상관관계를 더욱 정확히 모사하는 것을 확인하였다.

A Study on the Effective Downscaling Methodology for Design of a Micro Smart Grid Simulator

  • In this paper, a methodology was proposed to reduce the electrical level and spatial size of the smart grid with distributed generations (DGs) to a scale in which the electrical phenomena and control strategies for disturbances on the smart grid could be safely and freely experimented and observed. Based on the design methodology, a micro smart grid simulator with a substation transformer capacity of 190VA, voltage level of 19V, maximum breaking current of 20A and size of $2{\times}2m^2$ was designed by reducing the substation transformer capacity of 45MVA, voltage level of 23kV and area of $2{\times}2km^2$ of the smart grid to over one thousandth, and also reducing the maximum breaking current of 12kA of the smart grid to 1/600. It was verified that the proposed design methodology and designed micro smart grid simulator were very effective by identifying how all of the fault currents are limited to within the maximum breaking current of 20A, and by confirming that the maximum error between the fault currents obtained from the fault analysis method and the simulation method is within 1.8% through the EMTP-RV simulation results to the micro smart grid simulator model.

시뮬레이터를 활용한 문제중심학습 모듈 개발 및 적용 - Simman을 중심으로 - (Development and Application of PBL Module Using Simulator - Focused on Simman -)

  • Purpose: This research was done to identify how PBL education using a simulator affects nursing students' critical thinking, self-efficacy, and meta-cognition by applying and developing a PBL module using the Simman simulator. Method: With a one group pre-post test design, the research was conducted with a convenience sampling on 66 students in C College on Jeju Island for 8 weeks from August to October, 2005. The collected data on critical thinking, self-efficacy, and meta-cognition were analyzed using T-test. SPSS 10.0 was used to assist analysis. For study-related variables, means and standard deviations were used. Results: The finding of the research showed that most of the students were in favor of use of PBL-in the curriculum with more than 50% of the scores indicating satisfaction with content of the teaching, the teaching method, and self-confidence in nursing. The results also showed that there was an increase in interest among the students regarding campus practical education. Conclusion: As the application of the PBL module using the Simman simulator elicited more interest and satisfaction from the students, it is worth using this simulator as a the teaching method to improve the practical education in nursing.

FOV Restrictor를 활용한 가상 멀미 저감 요소 기술연구 (Research on Virtual Simulator Sickness Using Field of View Restrictor According to Human Factor levels)

  • 가상 멀미는 가상 현실의 대표적 부작용 중 하나로 다양한 요소에 의해 영향을 받는다. Field of view (FOV)는 그 중 대표적인 요소 중 하나로, FOV가 줄어들면 가상 멀미는 줄일 수 있으나 임장감 또한 낮아지는 것으로 알려져 왔다. 최근 연구에 따르면 임장감을 유지하면서 가상 멀미를 줄이기 위해 Dynamic FOV Restrictor (Center-fixed FOV Restrictor)가 제안되었으며, 아바타의 속도와 각속도를 반영하여 동적으로 FOV를 제한하였다. 본 연구 그룹에서는 여기에 머리의 회전과 눈의 움직임을 더하여 Eye-tracking Based Dynamic FOV Restrictor (Eye-tracking FOV Restrictor)를 제안하였다. 본 연구는 FOV Restrictor가 없는 조건과, Center-fixed FOV Restrictor조건, Eye-tracking FOV Restrictor조건의 가상 멀미와 임장감을 연구하였다. 본 연구 결과에 따르면 Center-fixed FOV Restrictor조건의 가상 멀미가 다른 두 조건의 가상 멀미 보다 낮은 것을 확인하였고, 세 조건에서 영장감에 차이가 없는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 가상 멀미 저감 요소 기술에 대한 해석과 한계에 대하여 본 논문에서 논의하였다.

기계장비 제어특성 시뮬레이션 플랫폼 기술 (Accuracy Simulation Technology for Machine Control Systems)

  • Control systems in machinery equipment provide correction signals to motion units in order to reduce or cancel out the mismatches between sensor feedback signals and command or desired values. In this paper, we introduce a simulator for control characteristics of machinery equipment. The purpose of the simulator development is to provide mechanical system designers with the ability to estimate how much dynamic performance can be achieved from their design parameters and selected devices at the designing phase. The simulator has a database for commercial parts, so that the designers can choose appropriate components for servo controllers, motors, motor drives, and guide ways, etc. and then tune governing parameters such as controller gains and friction coefficients. The simulator simulates the closed-loop control system which is built and parameter-tuned by the designer and shows dynamic responses of the control system. The simulator treats the moving table as a 6 degrees-of-freedom rigid body and considers the motion guide blocks stiffness, damping and their locations as well as sensor locations. The simulator has been under development for one and a half years and has a few years to go before the public release. The primary achievements and features will be presented in this paper.

극단적인 네트워크 환경을 위한 효율적인 라우팅 알고리즘 (An Efficient Routing Algorithm for extreme networking environments)

  • Sensor networks and car networks that have different structure from that of conventional TCP/IP network require extreme network environment due to frequent change of connectivity. Because such extreme network environment has characteristics like unreliable link connectivity, long delay time, asymmetrical data transfer rate, and high error rate, etc., it is difficult to perform normally with the conventional TCP/P-based routing. DTNs (delay and disruption tolerant network) was designed to support data transfer in extreme network environment with long delay time and no guarantee for continuous connectivity between terminals. This study suggests an algorithm that limits the maximum number of copying transferred message to L by improving the spray and wait routing protocol, which is one of the conventional DTNs routing protocols, and using the azimuth and density data of the mobile nods. The suggested algorithm was examined by using ONE, a DTNs simulator. As a result, it could reduce the delay time and overhead of unnecessary packets compared to the conventional spray and wait routing protocol.

  • There are two kinds of irradiation intensity deviation, depending on time and position, on illuminated plane when thermal performance of solar collector is tested by using solar simulator. In this study we measured only position deviation of irradiation intensity using 45-cds photosensors and data acqusition system and found the point of average value. By this result we can improve the accuracy of irradiation measurement in indoor test of solar collector.

물류망 설계 및 계획을 위한 컴퓨터 시뮬레이터의 개발 (Development of a Logistics Network Simulator)

  • Logistics network management has become one of the most important sources of competitive advantage regarding logistics cost and customer service in numerous business segments. Logistics network simulation is a powerful analysis method for designing and planning the logistics network optimally in an integrated way. This paper introduces a logistics network simulator, LONSIM, developed by author. LONSIM deploys a mix of simulation and optimization functions to model and analysis logistics network issues such as facility location, inventory policy, manufacturing policy, transportation mode, warehouse assignment, supplier assignment, order processing priority rule, and vehicle routes. LONSIM is built with AweSim 2.1 and Visual Basic 6.0, and executed in windows environment.

  • We have developed the power line simulator which is one of the basic tools for the research of the power line communication and the control system. In the developed simulators, we have considered the transfer characteristics of the power line, various noise characteristics, and signal attenuation characteristics.
