  • In this paper, we present a simulation model of Slammer worm propagation process which caused serious disruptions on Internet in the you of 2003 and analyze the process of Slammer by using NS-2. Recently introduced NS-2 modeling called "Detailed Network-Abstract Network Model" had enabled packet level analysis. However, it had deficiency of accommodating only small sized network. By extending the NS-2 DN-AN model to AN-AN model (Abstract Network-Abstract Network model), it is effectively simulated that the whole process from the initial infection to the total network congestion on hourly basis not only for the Korean network but also for the rest of the world networks. Furthermore, the progress of the propagation from Korean network to the other country was also simulated through the AN-AN model. 8,848 hosts in Korean network were infected in 290 second and 66,152 overseas hosts were infected in 308 second. Moreover, the scanning traffics of the worm at the Korean international gateway saturated the total bandwidth in 154 seconds for the inbound traffic and in 135 seconds for the outbound one.

  • Considering the domestic traffic environment and the increase of traffic accidents, we have been asked to exactly analyze the main causes of accidents for the accident-experienced drivers to be rehabilitated. In this thesis we present the development process and results of a driving simulator using the IPDE method in the interest of safe driving and driving rehabilitation. Through this Driving simulation development the rehabilitated driver has the possibility of experiencing the real driving situation with the driving aptitude and examines the reasons of accidents. Through the examinations the driver has the chance to correct the deformities of driving by choosing the explanatory scenes, and through this process the driver is able to develop the capability to react in the real situation. However this driving simulation system is one of the best developed, depending on weather and road condition the braking distance may change. Therefore the fuzzy rule and neural network have been used in this thesis to solve previously mentioned problem. The simulation exactly calculated the road and weather conditions to adjust the breaking intensity.

  • One of the most important elements in satellite attitude control is sensor technology. Generally, inertial sensors introduce drift and noise which cause continuous errors. Absolute reference is needed to eliminate the problem of the inertial sensors. Star trackers are used primarily for such a purpose. There has been relatively less research effort or ground feasibility test experience on star trackers in the domestic side despite the importance of the associated technologies. In this paper, we re-introduce the basic concept of a star tracker and present the S/W simulator for the star tracker. The star simulator may be used ground test of a star tracker for the basic functioning test or the whole spacecraft test with the star tracker assembled.

  • Wargame simulators are widely used in the field of defence modeling and simulation. Because of increasing importance of communication effects on the warfare, the war game simulator is also required to reflect communication effects. One way to satisfy the requirement is the interoperation simulation between war game simulator and communication effect simulators. This paper shows the application of interoperation simulation between war game and communication effect simulators using HLA(High-Level Architecture)/RTI(RunTime Infrastructure). The war game simulator mainly deal with the engagement of troops and the troops communicate each other at the mission execution level. In the other hand, The communication effect simulator perform communication actions between the troops in the engineering level. Using the interoperation simulation, we can reflect the communication effects on the war game simulation. We show various applications of the interoperation simulation with the point of the war game and communication effect simulator. with a case study, we explain the interoperation simulation improves the reality and fidelity of the war game simulator and how the interoperation simulation can be applied to developing doctrines and real communication system.

  • This paper shows a case study of designing a PLC logic simulator that was developed to simulate and verify PLC control programs for nuclear plant systems. The nuclear control system requires strict restrictions rather than normal process control system does, as it works with a high-risky and dangerous nuclear plant. One is that it should assure the safeness of the control programs by exploiting severe testing. The other restriction is that the control programs should be executed fast enough such that they could control multi devices concurrently in real-time. To cope with these restrictions, we devised a logic compiler which generates C-code programs from given PLC logic programs. Once the logic program was translated into C-code, the program could be analyzed by conventional software analysis tools and could be used to construct a fast logic simulator after cross-compiling, in fact, that is a kind of compiled-code simulator.

  • Research for the inverse estimation of RF threats and the efficient electronic attack based on the parameters of the electronic information has been active in the electronic warfare (EW) situations. In this paper, an EW transmission simulator is constructed from the modeling of radar threats, EW receivers, and propagation environments with the collected electronic information in order to verify the performance of the inverse estimation algorithm in various and practical EW situations. In simulation results, we show that the range tracking error and angle tracking error are produced within ten meters and one degree, respectively. And also, we show that the changing relations between the angle tracking error and the parameters of the monopulse angle tracking radar such as the beamwidth and squint angle in simulation results correspond with those in the theoretical modeling. Accordingly, the constructed EW simulator can be used to observe the modifying characteristics of the electronic information in transmission environments, and then, to evaluate the performance of the inverse estimation system in various EW situations.

  • Recently, drone is extending its range of usability. For example, the delivery, agriculture, industry, and entertainment area take advantage of drone mobilities. To control real drones, it needs huge amount of drone control training steps. However, it is risky; falling down, missing, destroying. The virtual drone system can avoid such risks. We reason that what kinds of technologies are required for building the virtual drone system. First, it needs that the virtual drone authoring tool that can assemble drones with the physical restriction in the virtual environment. We suggest that the drone assembly method that can fulfill physical restrictions in the virtual environment. Next, we introduce the virtual drone simulator that can simulate the assembled drone moves physically right in the virtual environment. The simulator produces a high quality rendering results more than 60 frames per second. In addition, we develop the physics engine based on SILS(Software in the loop simulation) framework to perform more realistic drone movement. Last, we suggest the virtual drone controller that can interact with real drone controllers which are commonly used to control real drones. Our virtual drone system earns 7.64/10.0 user satisfaction points on human test: the test is done by one hundred persons.

  • Vehicle driving simulators can provide engineers with benefits on the development and modification of vehicle models. One of the most important factors to realistic simulations is the fidelity given by a motion system and a real-time visual image generation system. Virtual reality technology has been widely used to achieve high fidelity. In this paper the virtual environment including a visual system like a head-mounted display is developed for a vehicle driving simulator system by employing the virtual reality technique. virtual vehicle and environment models are constructed using the object-oriented analysis and design approach. Accordint to the object model a three dimensional graphic model is developed with CAD tools such as Rhino and Pro/E. For the real-time image generation the optimized IRIS Performer 3D graphics library is embedded with the multi-thread methodology. Compared with the single loop apprach the proposed methodology yields an acceptable image generation speed 20 frames/sec for the simulator.

  • This paper describes the development of the test path for Eclipse-II, a parallel mechanism motion simulator. Eclipse-II which can be used as a base for general motion simulators, enables unlimited continuous 360-degree spinning in any rotational axes plus finite X, Y, and Z translation motions. The advantage of enabling continuous 360-degree spinning allows various motions for virtual reality. In this paper, the development of the test path to verify the robustness of the Eclipse-II motion simulator is described. The test motions, which satisfy the requirements of test path, are suggested and washout filter enables these motions reproduced in the limited workspace. The trial run is conducted to verify the robustness of the Eclipse-II motion simulator. Additionally the standard data format of virtual reality for Eclipse-II One Man Ride is suggested.

  • Test in the development of vehicle consist of driving test and simulation test. The last one has many advantages. It can reduce time and cost during development, can overcome the spacial and environmental limitation, and can provides repeatabilities of similar experiments and various data. In these reason, the simulation test is used more for analysis and development of new vehicle. In this research the result of kinematic analysis on multi-axis simulator is compared with the simulated result using dynamic analysis program, ADAMS, and the maximum stress and strain are analyzed for the safety of link and specifications of optimal design using finite element method.
