Photobiomodulation (PBM) using organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) surface light sources have recently been claimed to be the next generation of PBM light sources. However, the differences between light emitting diodes (LEDs) and OLED mechanisms in vitro and in vivo have not been well studied. In vivo mouse models were used to investigate the effects of OLED irradiation on cellular function and cutaneous wound healing compared to LED irradiation. Mice in the LED- and OLED-irradiated groups were subjected to irradiation with 6 J/㎠ LED and OLED (630 nm), respectively, for 14 days after wounding, and some mice were sacrificed for the experiments on days 3, 7, 10, and 14. To evaluate wound healing, we performed hematoxylin-eosin and Masson's trichrome staining and quantified collagen density by computerized image analysis. The results showed that the size of the wound, collagen density, neo-epidermis thickness, number of new blood vessels, and number of fibroblasts and neutrophils was significantly influenced by LED and OLED irradiation. The tissue levels of interleukin (IL)-β, IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α were investigated by immunohistochemical staining. LED and OLED irradiation resulted in a significant increase in the tissue IL-β and IL-6 levels at the early stage of wound healing (P < 0.01), and a decrease in the tissue TNF-α level at all stages of wound healing (P < 0.05), compared to the no-treatment group. The expression levels of the genes encoding vascular endothelial growth factor and transforming growth factor-beta 1 were significantly increased in LED and OLED-irradiated wound tissue at the early stage of wound healing (P < 0.01) compared to the no-treatment group. Thus, OLED as well as LED irradiation accelerated wound healing by modulating the synthesis of anti-inflammatory cytokines and the expression levels of genes encoding growth factors, promoting collagen regeneration and reducing scarring. In conclusion, this suggests the possibility of OLED as a new light source to overcome the limitations of existing PBMs.

The OLEDs(Organic Light-Emitting Diodes) structure organizes the bottom layer using glass, ITO(indium thin oxide), hole injection layer, hole transport layer, emitting material layer, electron transport layer, electron injection layer and cathode using metal. OLED has various advantages. OLEDs research has been divided into structural side and emitting material side. The amount of emitting light and luminescence efficiency has been improved by continuing effort for emitting material layer. The emitting light mechanism of OLEDs consists of electrons and holes injected from cathode and anode recombination in emitting material layer. The mobilities of injected electrons and holes are different. The mobility of holes is faster than that of electrons. In order to get high luminescence efficiency by recombine electrons and holes, the balance of their mobility must be set. The more complex thin film structure of OLED becomes, the more understanding about physical phenomenon in each interface is needed. This paper observed what the thickness change of hole transport layer has an affection through the below experiments. Moreover, this paper uses numerical analysis about carrier transport layer thickness change on the basis of these experimental results that agree with simulation results.

We have developed green phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) with high quantum efficiency. Wide-energy-gap material, 1,1-bis[(di-4-tolylamino) phenyl]cyclohexane (TAPC), with high triplet energy level was used as a hole transporting layer. Electrophosphorescent devices fabricated using TAPC as a hole-transporting layer and N,N'-dicarbazolyl-4,4'-biphenyl (CBP) doped with fac-tris(2-phenylpyridine) iridium [Ir(ppy)3] as the emitting layer showed the maximum external quantum efficiency ($\eta_{ext}$) of 19.8 %, which is much higher than the devices adopting 4,4'-bis[N-(1-naphthyl)-N-phenyl-amino]biphenyl (NPB) (${\eta}B_{ext}=14.6%$) as a hole transporting layer.
Organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) and polymer light emitting diodes (PLED) have been regarded as the candidate for the next generation light source and flat panel display. Currently, the most common OLED industrial fabrication technology used in producing real products utilizes a fine shadow mask during the thermal evaporation of small molecule materials. However, due to high potential including low cost, easy process and scalability, various researches about solution process are progressed. Since polymer has some disadvantages such as short lifetime and difficulty of purifying, small molecule OLED (SMOLED) can be a good alternative. In this work, we have demonstrated high efficient solution-processed OLED with small molecule. We use CBP (4,4'-N,N'-dicarbazolebiphenyl) as a host doped with green dye (Ir(ppy)3 (fac-tris(2-phenyl pyridine) iridium)). PBD (2-(4-biphenylyl)-5-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole) and TPD (N,N'diphenyl-N,N'-Bis (3-methylphenyl)-[1,1-biphenyl]-4,4'-diamine) are employed as an electron transport material and a hole transport material. And TPBi (2,2',2''-(1,3,5-phenylene) tris (1-phenyl-1H-benzimidazole)) is used as an hole blocking layer for proper hole and electron balance. With adding evaporated TPBi layer, the current efficiency was very improved. Among various parameters, we observed the property of OLED device by changing the thickness of hole transporting layer and solvent which can dissolve organic material. We could make small molecule OLED device with finding proper conditions.

The Improved stability of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) containing lithium-quinolate (Liq) as the ETL doping material is investigated. The lifetime could be improved by threefold using the Liq-doped ETL structure. The improvement was attributed to the Liq-doped ETL, which improved hole-electron balance and has a good electrical stability. Additionally, when the Liq doped device was combined with an Mg/Al cathode, the OLED produced a longer lifetime than other device.
The white-light-emitting organic LED with two-wavelength was fabricated using blue emitting material(DPVBi) and a series of orange color fluorescent dye(Rubrene) by vacuum evaporation processes. The basic structure of white-light-emitting OLED was ITO/NPB(150$\AA$)/DPVBi(150$\AA$)/Alq$_3$:Rubrene(150$\AA$)/BCP(100$\AA$)/Alq$_3$(150$\AA$)/Al(600$\AA$). The changes of the CIE coordiante strongly depended on the doping concentration of Rubrene and the thickness of NPB layer. We obtained the white-light-emitting OLED close to the pure white color light and the CIE coordinate of the device was (0.315, 0.330) at applied voltage of 13V when the doping concentration of Rubrene was 0.5wt% and the thickness of NPB layer is 200$\AA$. At a current of 100mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$, the quantum efficiency was 0.35%.

Effects of a dielectric capping layer on the luminous characteristics of top emitting organic light emitting diodes (TOLEDs) have been analyzed using a classical electromagnetic theory. Special attention was given to the influence of the cavity length on the effectiveness of the capping layer. The luminance characteristics of the TOLEDs influenced by the combined effects of the cavity length and the capping layer thickness. Furthermore, these combined effects also modify the emission spectrum and pattern of the TOLEDs, which result in the improvement of total luminance of the device, but no significant change in the device out-coupling efficiency.
The effect of $\alpha$-septithiophene (${\alpha}-7T$) layers on the organic light emitting diode(OLED) was studied. The ${\alpha}-7T$ was used for a buffer layer in OLED. Hole injection was investigated and improved emission efficiency. The OLEDs structure can be described as indium tin oxide(ITO)/ buffer layer / hole transporting layer / emitting layer / electron transporting layer / LiF / Al. The hole transporting layer were composed of N,N-diphenyl-N,N-di(3-methylphenyl)-1,1-biphenyl-4,4-diamine(TPD), and N,N-di(naphthalene-1-ly)-N,N-diphenyl-benzidine( ${\alpha}$-NPD). The emitting layer, and electron transporting layer consist of tris(8-hydroxyquinolinato) aluminum($Alq_3$). All organic layer were deposited at a background pressure of less than $10^{-6}$ torr using ultra high vacuum (UHV) system. The ${\alpha}-7T$ layer can substitute the hole blocking layer, and improve hole injection properties.

Microdisplays based on organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) have a small form factor, and this can be a great advantage when applied to augmented reality and virtual reality devices. In addition, a high-resolution microdisplay of 3000 ppi or more can be achieved when applying a white OLED structure and a color filter. However, low luminance is the weakness of an OLED-based microdisplay as compared with other microdisplay technologies. By applying a tandem structure consisting of two separate emission layers, the efficiency of the OLED device is increased, and higher luminance can be achieved. The efficiency and white spectrum of the OLED device are affected by the position of the emitting layer in the tandem structure and calculated via optical simulation. Each white OLED device with optimized efficiency is fabricated according to the position of the emitting layer, and red, green, and blue spectrum and efficiency are confirmed after passing through color filters. The optimized white OLED device with color filters reaches 97.8% of the National Television Standards Committee standard.
