  • Pt 나노입자의 합성과 이를 이용한 hybrid Pt-$SiO_2$ 나노입자의 합성을 성공적으로 수행하였으며, self-assembled Pt nanoparticles monolayer를 charge trapping layer로 활용하는 metal-oxide-semiconductor(MOS) type memory의 한 예로 non-volatile memory(NVM)의 응용을 보임으로써 나노입자의 활용 가능성을 보이고, 또한, hybrid Pt-$SiO_2$ 나노입자 박막 층의 제어를 통한 MOS type memory device에의 보다 더 넓은 활용 가능성을 보이고자 하였다.

Electrogeneration of Hypochlorite Ions using a Dimensionally Stable Anode-Type (Ti/PtPd(10%)Ox) Electrode

  • The study examined the electrogeneration of hypochlorite ions (ClO-) via electrolysis of aqueous NaCl solutions using a dimensionally stable anode-type (DSA-type) electrode based on platinum and palladium oxides supported on titanium mesh (Ti/PtPd(10%)Ox). The electrogenerated ClO- was quantified on the basis of the absorption band at 292 nm (Aλ = 292) of the UV-Vis spectrum. The effect of initial pH, concentration of NaCl, cell potential difference and electrolysis time were investigated in this study. The results showed that the electrolysis of aqueous NaCl solutions increases the solution pH up to high values (≥ 8.0) that favor the formation of ClO- over chlorine or hypochlorous acid. The hypochlorite concentration increases significantly at pH values > 7.0 and shows a linear trend with increasing NaCl concentration and with increasing cell potential difference. When the cell potential and NaCl concentration are held constant, the maximum hypochlorite value during electrolysis depends on both the cell potential and NaCl concentration. The Ti/PtPd(10%)Ox anode favors the production of hypochlorite ions, making this anode a promising material for use in electrochemical oxidation of wastewater via an indirect mechanism.

부식산의 광촉매 산화 공정에 도입된 여러 종류의 상용 TiO2 비교연구 (Photocatalytic Oxidation of Humic Acid by various commerical TiO2: A Comparative Study)

  • In this study, the effects of crystalinity, composition and particle size of $TiO_2$ catalysts on the degradations of humic acid in aqueous solution was assessed using the commercially avaliable $TiO_2$ particles. Photocatalytic oxidations of humic acid (HA, Aldrich Co.) solution were carried out in case of adding different types of $TiO_2$ catalysts and their decomposition efficiencies were analyzed with respect to pH, DOC and UV absorbances values for the HA solutions and compared one another. The experimental results showed that $TiO_2$ particles(Degussa P-25) mixed with anataze and rutile gave the highest degradation efficiencies, respectively and much lower degradation efficiency in $TiO_2$ paticles of rutile only type. In comparing among ST series of anataze types, it was observed that the degradation efficiencies generally were increased with increasing $TiO_2$ contents and surface area of the particles. Higher degradation efficiency of HA was also found in zeolite type(D-TZ) of $TiO_2$ paticles compared with hydroxyapatite type (D-TH) of $TiO_2$ particles.

Effect of various MgO E-beam evaporation sources on the characteristics of MgO protecting layer of AC-PDP

  • MgO thin films were deposited bye-beam evaporation on $SiO_2$/Si wafers for the application of a protective layer in alternating current plasma display panels (AC-PDPs). Three different MgO sources, single crystal, melted polycrystal and sintered polycrystal, were used to find out the change of the properties of MgO protective layer depending on the source type. The properties of MgO thin films such as density, orientation and surface morphology were influenced by the source type. MgO thin films deposited with the melted polycrystal source had the highest density with the highest (100) preferred orientation, whereas the films deposited with the sintered polycrystal source had the lowest density with less preferred orientation. Such a result seems to be originated from the different mobility of adatoms on the surface of the deposited MgO thin films. Different microstructures of MgO thin films deposited even in the same deposition condition were observed depending on the MgO source type, resulting in different discharge characteristics.

P형 반전층을 갖는 ZnO 자외선 수광소자의 제작과 Vrlph특성 분석 (The Fabrication of ZnO UV Photodetector with p-type Inversion Layer and Analysis of Vrlph Properties)

  • Investigation of improving the properties of UV detector which uses the wide bandgap of ZnO are under active progress. The present study focused on the design and fabrication of i-ZnO/p-inversion $layer/n^--Si$ Epi. which is characterized with very thin p-type inversion layer for UV detectors. The i-ZnO thin film for achieving p-inversion layer which was grown by RF sputtering at $450^{\circ}C$ and then annealed at $400^{\circ}C$ in $O_2$ gas for 20 min shows good intrinsic properties. High (0002) peak intensity of the i-ZnO film is shown on XRD spectrum and it is confirmed by XPS analysis that the ratio of Zn : O of the i-ZnO film is nearly 1 : 1. Measurement shows high transmission of 79.5 % in UV range (< 400 nm) for the i-ZnO film. Measurement of $V_r-I_{ph}$ shows high UV photo-current of 1.2 mA under the reverse bias of 30 V.

The Electrical and Microstructural Properties of ZnO:N Thin Films Grown in The Mixture of $N_2$ and $O_2$ by RF Magnetron Sputtering

  • ZnO is a promising material to make high efficiency violet or blue light emitting diodes (LEDs) for its large binding energy (60meV) and big bandgap. But the high quality p-type conduction of ZnO is a dilemma to achieve LEDs with it. In present study, we presented a reliable method to prepare ZnO thin films on (100)silicon substrates by RF magnetron sputtering in the mixture ambient of $N_2$ and $O_2$, accompanying with low pressure annealing in the sputtering chamber in $O_2$ at $600^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$ respectively. X-ray diffraction and Hail effect with Van der Paul method were performed to test ZnO films. Seeback effect was also carried out to identify carrier types in ZnO films and showed the N-doped ZnO film annealed at $800^{\circ}C$ had achieved p-type conduction.

Characterization of composite prepared with different mixing ratios of TiO2 to activated carbon and their photocatalytic activity

  • In this work, pitch/activated carbon/$TiO_2$ composite were prepared by $CCl_4$ solvent method with different mixing ratios. The BET surface area of pitch/activated carbon/$TiO_2$ composite has a significantly increase with increasing activated carbon content in pitch/activated carbon/$TiO_2$ composite. The surface structure and elemental compositions of the composite were studied by SEM and EDX, respectively. The SEM results were presented to the characterization of porous texture on the pitch/activated carbon/$TiO_2$ composite. And EDX data was shown the presence of C, O, S, Ti and other elements. The structural properties of the composite were studied in XRD measurements. The $TiO_2$ crystal phases of the pitch/activated carbon/$TiO_2$ composite had lots of rutile-type structure which transforms from anatase-type with a little of anatase-type structure. The photocatalytic activities of the composite were evaluated using a photo-decomposition method under UV lamp. The pitch/activated carbon/$TiO_2$ composites were observed better photocatalytic activity than that of pristine $TiO_2$.

한반도 남서부 남원 일대에 분포하는 A형 대강 화강암의 암석학, 지화학 및 지구조적 의미 (Petrology, Geochemistry and Tectonic Implication of the A-type Daegang granite in the Namwon area, Southwestern part of the Korean Peninsula)

  • Daegang granite is located around the Namwon-gun, Cheolabuk-do, and is an elongate stock $(80 km^{2})$ in the NNE-SSW direction. Daegang granite has the very same mineralogical and geochemical characteristics as those of the typical A-type granites; (1) it is a one feldspar hypersolvus granite, and is classified as an alkali feldspar granite in the lUGS scheme, (2) has small amounts of Fe-rich biotite (annite) and alkali amphibole (ribeckite) that are late in the crystallization sequence of the granitic magma, (3) always contains opaque oxides, fluorite and zircon, (4) shows high and quite homogeneous $SiO_2$, content (mostly 72~77 wt.%) and $(Na_{2}O+K_{2}O)/Al_{2}O_{3}$ ratio (0.90~0.98), (5) contains high Ga, lOOOO*Ga/Ai, $K_{2}O+Na_{2}O$, $(K_{2}O+Na_{2}O)/CaO$, $K_{2}O/MgO$, FeO/MgO, agpaitic index, Zr, Nb, Ce, Y, Zn value or ratio that resemble to those of the Australian A-type granites (Whalen et al., 1987), and (6) has enriched LREE and HREE that show flat variation pattern with slightly depleted in HREE and profound Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu*=0.04~0.l4). In the tectonic discrimination diagrams of Pearce et al. (1984) and Eby (1992), Daegang granite is classified as a within plate granite and $A_{2}-type$.

Z-Type 바리움 페라이트 분말의 연자성 특성에 미치는 Ba 및 Fe 농도의 영향 (The Effect of Ba and Fe Concentration on Soft Magnetic Properties of Z-Type Barium Ferrite)

  • Z-Type 바리움 페라이트($Ba_{3}Co_{0.8}Zn_{1.2}Fe_{24}O_{41}$)를 공침법으로 제조하고 결정구조와 자기적 성질을 조사하였다. $Ba_{3+{\delta}}Co_{0.8}Zn_{1.2}Fe_{24}O_{41}$(${\delta}$ = 3, 5, 7, 13 wt%)와 $Ba_{3}Co_{0.8}Zn_{1.2}Fe_{{24}+{\delta}}O_{41}$(${\delta}$ = 5, 7, 10 wt%)의 조성을 가진 분말의 ${\delta}$ 값에 따른 자기적 성질의 변화를 조사하였다. 제조된 모든 바리움 페라이트에는 Z-type으로 상전이 하지 않은 M-type이 상당량 잔류하고 있었다. 포화자화는 Ba와 Fe의 과잉 첨가량 ${\delta}$가 각각 7 wt%와 5 wt% 일 때 최대로 나타났고 보자력은 조사된 모든 분말에서 다소 높게 나타났다. 높은 보자력은 M-type이 잔류하기 때문이다. 과잉의 Ba와 Fe 첨가에 따른 결정구조의 변화는 없었다. Z-type 바리움 페라이트의 연자성 특성을 향상시키기 위해서는 M-type이 Z-type 형성온도에서 상전이가 일어나도록 해야 함을 알았다.

The Estimation of Emission Factor of N2O and CH4 by Measurement from Stacks in the Waste Incinerators and Cement Production Plants

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the emission factor of $non-CO_2$ global warming gases such as $N_2O$ and $CH_4$ by measuring concentrations from stacks of waste incinerators and cement production plants. Based on the established monitoring methods, $N_2O$ concentration measured from stacks in incinerator were between 0.62 and $40.60\;ppm_v$ (ave. $11.50\;ppm_v$). The concentration of $N_2O$ was dependent on the incinerator types. However, the concentrations of $CH_4$ gas were between 2.65 and $5.68\;ppm_v$ (ave. $4.22\;ppm_v$), and did not show the dependency on the incinerator types. In the cement production plant, the concentration ranges of $N_2O$ from the stack were from 6.90 to $10.80\;ppm_v$ (ave. $8.60\;ppm_v$), and $CH_4$ were between 1.80 and $2.20\;ppm_v$ (ave. $2.60\;ppm_v$). Using measured concentrations, the emission amounts of $N_2O$ and $CH_4$ from stacks per year were calculated. The results were is 4.2 ton $N_2O/yr$ in the incinerators, and 53.7 ton $N_2O/yr$ in the cement facilities. The big difference is from the flow rate of flue gas in the cement facilities compared to the incinerators. By the same reason, the $CH_4$ emission amounts in cement plant and incinerator was found to be 339 ton $CO_2/yr$ and 34.1 ton $CO_2/yr$, respectively. Finally, the emission factor of $N_2O$ in the incinerators were calculated using the measured concentration and the amount of incinerated wastes, and was $42.5\sim799.1\;g/ton$ in kiln and stoker type, $11.9\sim79.9\;g/ton$ in stoker type, 90.1 ton/g in rotary kiln type, 174.9 g/ton in fluidized bed type, and 63.8 g/ton in grate type, respectively. Also, the emission factors of $CH_4$ were found to 65.2-91.3 g/ton in kiln/stoker type, 73.9-122 g/ton in stoker type, 109.5 g/ton rotary kiln, and 26.1 g/ton in fluidized bed type. This result indicates that the emission factor in incinerators is strongly dependent on the incinerator types, and matched with result of IPCC (International Panel on Climate Change) guideline.
