The Structural and Electrical Properties of Li doped ZnO Thin Films (Li이 도핑된 ZnO 박막의 구조적 및 전기적 특성)

  • Lithium doped zinc oxide(ZnO:Li) films are prepared by rf magnetron sputtering on Corning 7059 glass substrate using specifically designed ZnO targets containing different amount of $Li_2CO_3$ powder as the Li doping source. The structural properties of the Li doped ZnO films are investigated by XRD, SEM and AFM. The electrical properties of the ZnO:Li films are measured for various deposition conditions, such as the substrate temperature, $O_2$/Ar gas ratio and rf power. The effects of the $Li_2CO_3$ content in target and the deposition conditions on the structural and electrical properties were studied. When ZnO:Li films were sputtered at the substrate temperature of $200^{\circ}C$, $O_2$/Ar gas ratio of 100% and rf power of 100W with a target containing less than 1wt% content of $Li_2CO_3$, showed good surface morphology, strong c-axis orientation and high resistivity of more than $10^8{\Omega}cm$.

Fabrication and Improved Sensitivity with Surface Treatment of TiO2/GOD Mixture based Glucose Biosensor (TiO2/GOD 혼합물 기반의 글루코스 바이오 센서의 제작과 표면 처리를 통한 감도개선)

  • In this paper, the $TiO_2$/glucose oxidase (GOD) mixture has synthesized through simple and low-cost fabrication methods. The physical properties of the mixture were proved using an FT-IR/NIR spectrometer, an X-Ray diffractometer, and a Raman spectrometer. GOD maintained its bioactivity during all fabrication process. The current characteristics of the glucose biosensor were proportional to the glucose concentration and effective surface area of square pyramid on a silicon substrate. The maximum current change was measured in a pH 7.0 buffer solution. The simple and low-cost fabrication process and surface treatment can be used widely in previous research for improvements in effective surface area.

  • As industries developed, industrial goods have got bigger and more precise. It led producers to feel like having a way to confirm whether the goods are good enough for the needs of consumers or not. Because of that, producers got interested in industrial photogrammetry that can get accurate data quickly without coming cotact with customers directly. Based on the need, this study is examined by photographing an O-2A aircraft which is a large and precise one to check the application of Industrial Photogrammetry.

Electromagnetic Wave Characteristics of $\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3$ Woven-Fabric Composites ($\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3$ Woven-fabric 복합재료의 전자파특성)

  • Recently, GFRP is well known as a structural material for the radome of aircraft. In this paper, we have observed the reflectivity of electromagnetic waves on GFRP reinforced with $\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3$ woven fabric. The result of the experiment has revealed that the reflectivity of $\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3$/GFRP composites is remarkably reduced compared with that of GFRP. And it also shows that the electromagnetic wave reflections are greatly influenced by the number of $\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3$ plies in a specific frequency band. These results are expected to be utilized for the technique of manufacturing a low-reflectivity composite structure.

Distributions and Behaviors of H2O2 Above the Yellow Sea in the Years Between 2002 and 2004 (2002년에서 2004년 동안 서해상공에서 관측된 과산화수소의 농도분포 및 거동)

  • Hydrogen peroxide is a reservoir of OH radical which is the powerful oxidant in the atmosphere. Therefore, the status of the oxidizing atmosphere could be reflected on the concentration of $H_{2}O_{2}$. In this study, the distribution of $H_{2}O_{2}$ was determined during the intensive aircraft measurements over the Yellow sea in March, December 2002, April, November 2003 and March, October 2004. Flights covered from $124^{circ}E\;to\;129^{circ}E\;and\;35^{circ}N\;to\;37^{circ}N$, and extending to 3,000 m. The flight patterns were set properly to assess the altitudinal and longitudinal distribution for $H_{2}O_{2}$. $H_{2}O_{2}$ was extracted onto aqueous solution using a continuously flowing glass coil and analyzed by a high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) accompanied with a fluorescence detector using postcolumn enzyme derivatization. Mixing ratios of $O_{3},\;NO_{x}\;and\;SO_{2}$ were measured in real time by commercial analysis instruments. Along the heights, the maximum concentration of $H_{2}O_{2}$ appeared around 1,500 m then gradually decreased with increasing altitude. The vertical behavior of ozone showed the similar trend to $H_{2}O_{2}$. The mean mixing ratio of $NO_{x}$ was about 2 ppbv and not showed clear vertical distribution patterns. The mean value of was the same as $NO_{x}$ however $SO_{2}$ appeared extreme concentration in low altitude. $H_{2}O_{2}\;and\;O_{3}$ showed even longitudinal distribution however $NO_{x}$ mixing ratio in land ($127^{circ}E$) was much higher than over the sea. $SO_{2}$ rather decreased with increasing longitude. $H_{2}O_{2}$ was in inverse proportion to $NO_{x}$ in spring and summer and $SO_{2}$ in spring, which indicated its significant role to NO and $SO_{2}$ oxidation pathways.

  • Course correction munition is a smart projectile which improves its accuracy by the control mechanism equipped in the fuze section with canard. In this paper, various aerodynamic configurations of the fuze section were analysed by utilizing a semi-empirical method and a CFD method. A final canard configuration showing the least drag was then determined. During the CFD simulation, it was found that the k-${\omega}$ SST turbulence model combined with O-type grid base is suitable for the prediction of the base drag. Finally, the aerodynamic characteristics of the smart munition and the change of drag due to the canard installation were analysed.

Gas Effect at High Temperature on the Supersonic Nozzle Conception

  • The aim of this work is to develop a new computational program to determine the effect of using the gas of propulsion of combustion chamber at high temperature on the shape of the two-dimensional Minimum Length Nozzle giving a uniform and parallel flow at the exit section using the method of characteristics. The selected gases are $H_2$, $O_2$, $N_2$, CO, $CO_2$, $H_2O$, $NH_3$, $CH_4$ and air. All design parameters depend on the stagnation temperature, the exit Mach number and the used gas. The specific heat at constant pressure varies with the temperature and the selected gas. The gas is still considered as perfect. It is calorically imperfect and thermally perfect below the threshold of dissociation of molecules. A error calculation between the parameters of different gases with air is done in this case for purposes of comparison. Endless forms of nozzles may be found based on the choise of $T_0$, $M_E$ and the selected gas. For nozzles delivering same exit Mach number with the same stagnation temperature, we can choose the right gas for aerospace manufacturing rockets, missiles and supersonic aircraft and for supersonic blowers as needed in settings conception.

A Survey on the Long-range Transport of Sulfur Compounds by Aircraft Measurement over the Yellow Sea in 1998 (황해상공에서의 항공기관측에 의한 황화합물 장거리이동 특징에 대한 조사)

  • Air pollutants($SO_2$, NOx, $O_3$ and aerosol number) were measured using an aircraft to investigate the characteristical features of long-range transport of sulfur compounds over the Yellow Sea for the periods of 26~27 April and 7~10 November in 1998. The mean $SO_2$ concentrations of April 26th~27th and November 7th~10th flight were 0.6~1.8 ppb and 0.5~8.3 ppb, respectively, and the sulfur transport was largely limited to the atmospheric boundary layer. Especially, $SO_2$ increased up to 8.3 ppb altogether with the increase of particle number concentraton especially on November 8, 1998. In addition, $O_3$ was remarkably decreased against the increase of $SO_2$and particle number concentrations. This enhanced $SO_2$ concentration occurred in the low level westerlies in association with the anticyclonic flow over Southern China and the cyclonic circulation over Manchuria. Aerosol analyses at Taean site also showed that sulfate concentration increased 2~3 times higher than those of another sampling days, which could suggest possible interactions between aerosol particels and tropospheric ozone. A rigorous evaluation will be possible after the more intensive measurements and quantitative analyses with detailed chemistry model including the postulated heterogeneous mechanism.

Fabrication and Characteristics of ZnO:In Thin Film $NH_3$ Gas Sensor (ZnO:In 박막 $NH_3$ 가스센서의 제작 및 특성)

  • The In doped ZnO(ZnO:In)thin films sensitive to $NH_3$ gas were prepared by the double layer depositions of In film by vacuum evaporation and ZnO film by rf magnetron sputtering method onto a $SiO_2$/Si wafer substrate, and subsequent heat treatment process. The structural and electrical characteristics of the ZnO:In thin films were studied as a function of heat treatment temperature by x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and 4 point probing method. And the dependence of the sensitivity, the selectivity and the time response of the thin films on heat treatment temperature was investigated. The thin film heat-treated at $400^{\circ}C$ showed the highest sensitivity of 140% at an operating temperature of $300^{\circ}C$. The sensitivity towards CO, $NO_x$, gases observed in the same temperature.

A Study on the Prediction of Engine Condition of Supersonic Aircraft through the Wear Debris Monitoring Technique (마모입자 분석기술을 이용한 초음속 항공기 엔진의 상태 예측에 관한 연구)

  • This paper describes an empirical equation which can be used to predict the engine condition of supersonic aircraft. The equation, which is derived from the trend analysis of JOAP data, represents the concentration of Fe particles in the engine oil. The result of the trend analysis shows that the concentration of Fe particles is a function of running time of engine oil. Meanwhile the slope of Fe concentration is a function of running time of engine. Threfore, the empirical equation was derived as $w=a(t_e).t_o+b$. However, the equation could not enough to diagnose the damaged part of engine quantitatively. To make up for the weak points of the equation, qualitative analysis was carried out. For that purpose wear debris were collected from the abnormal engine and analyzed by EDS to detect the damaged parts of engine.
