One of the major factors affecting maneuverability of an athlete is frictional force caused at an outsole of his shoe. The magnitude of the frictional force is closely related to pattern and hardness of outsole and roughness of ground or floor. This study then focuses on the effect of outsole pattern of sports shoes on the frictional force. After surveying outsole patterns of sports shoes in markets, we select 4 types of outsole patterns, such as straight, W, O, and wave as primary outsole patterns of sports shoe and we also select depth, pitch and slope as design parameters of each pattern. Corresponding to those patterns and design parameters, various outsole specimen are prepared for frictional experiments. After performing frictional tests with those specimen, coefficients of friction(COF) are collected and analyzed with a statistical tool to draw useful conclusion.

The purpose of this study was to examine antibody titers to structural protein (SP) of the foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) virus after vaccination in animals of the Seoul zoo. After the initial inoculation of FMD vaccine to the susceptible animals of the zoo, a total of 235 blood samples were collected from 42 species of zoo animals during treatment or necropsy. All samples were tested by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The overall positive rate of SP antibodies against FMD virus was 94.0% (221/235). However, the positive rates varied according to animal species. The results of positive rates in 30 species were 100% but in 12 species were 50-94.7%. We showed that most animals that have received FMD vaccine in Seoul zoo have been reached to the level of herd immunity against FMD virus after the vaccination. To the best of our knowledge, this study would be the first report for monitoring the vaccine-induced SP antibody titers against FMD virus after vaccination in various zoo animal species in Korea.

When emulsion is irradiated by a microwave, the energy absorbed by the emulsion is proportional to irradiation time. In case of a long exposure, the temperature of emulsion rises, its viscosity decrease, and subsequently increase the rate of demulsification. In this work, in order to improve demulsification rate, the studies on demusification and the Sauter mean diameter ($D_{32}$) for each microwaved emulsion with different irradiation mode(continuous, pulsative, and periodical irradiation) have been carried out. When the 30% W/O emulsion (sample #1) was irradiated for 600 sec and settled for 24 h, oil recovery rates from continuous, pulsative, and periodical microwave irradiation were 60.0%, 62.3%, and 96.2%, and the amounts of separated water were 26.5%, 35.0%, and 93.9%, respectively. Also, the Sauter mean diameters ($D_{32}$) were $47.183{\mu}m$, $111.547{\mu}m$, and $220.476{\mu}m$, respectively.

A numerical study on the viscous flow around a 2-dimensional circulation control foil is carried out for application on the field of naval architecture and ocean engineering. The governing equations are the RANS and the continuity equations. The equations are discretized by finite difference method and MAC method and the pressure poisson equation is calculate by a SOR method and an O-type non-staggered boundary fitted coordinate system which is overlapped near the slot is used to improve the numerical accuracy. Turbulence is approximated by a modified Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model. In the present paper, the Coanda effect on a 2-dimensional foil of a 20% thickness ellipse with modified rounded trailing edge has been numerically studied. The change in drag and lift of the foil with various jet momentums are calculated and compared to the experimental results to show good agreements.

In order to obtain the basic knowledges for the effective seed production of Perinereis aibuhitensis, sediment preference, burrow shape and behavior with in burrow were investigated in the laboratory. The highest value in both sediment preference and survival rate of P. aibuhitensis were shown at fine sand below 0.10 mm in the mean diameter. The worm made various types of burrows, such as J, L, O, Y and I shapes. Generally, only one individual inhabits in a burrow with head-up, but when excreting, it positions up-side down.

A 9-year-old boy of B blood group with end-stage renal disease due to IgA nephropathy received group O kidney transplantation from his father On day 9, he developed intravascular hemolysis, and anti-B autoantibody formation was confirmed. We diagnosed as immune hemolytic anemia due to passenger lymphocyte from donor, and cyclosporine withdrawl was done. Anemia resolved spontaneously, but on day 18, graft dysfunction developed, and graft biopsy revealed acute allograft rejection. Although hemolysis due to autoantibody is very rare and often mild, and the role of hemoglobinuria on acute rejection in this case is not certain, we recommend consideration of aggressive management on severe hemolysis after minor mismatched kidney transplantation. We describe the in-flight sensitivity calibration of the Far ultraviolet Imaging Spectrograph (FIMS, also known as SPEAR) onboard the first Korean science satellite, STSAT-1, which was launched in September 2003. The sensitivity calibration is based on a comparison of the FIMS observations of the hot white dwarf G191B2B, and two O-type stars Alpha-Cam, HD93521 with the HUT (Hopkins Ultraviolet Telescope) observations. The FIMS observations for the calibration targets have been conducted from November 2003 through May 2004. The effective areas calculated from the targets are compared with each other.

This study is focused on the effects of one's blood type on emotional character and anti-stress by comparing each individual's brain wave. Observed records are from those kids who volunteered for KRIJUS(Korea Research Institute of Jungshin Science)'s brain wave measurement from September 2006 to December 2009. The whole 4636 adult(20-59 age) group consists of 3221 female and 1415 male. Blood types are as follows; A>B>O>AB dominately ordered. The result shown no relations between the blood types of adult and their emotional character. But meaningful difference had been revealed between the blood type and stress resistancy; type O rated higher scores in awarness and stress resistancy then other types, which shows that type O has more ability to redudce its stress. This study revealed meaningful relation between blood types and emotional character among several categoties, while suggesting follow-up researches figuring out more detailed explanations for its effect and genetic role.

This study is focused on the effects of elder's blood type on determining awareness and emotional character of the elderly, by comparing each individual's brain wave. Observed records are from thoes elder's who volunteered for KRIJUS( Korea Research Institute of Jungshin Science)'s brain wave measurement from September 2008 to June 2009. The whole 762 elder group consists of 311 female and 451 male. Blood types are A>B>O>AB dominately ordered. The result shown no relations between the blood types and their emotional character among elderly female, while elderly men shown meaningful difference; type B and O had higher rate on negative aspects. When it comes to awareness categories, both emotional(p=.001) and active(right)(p=.040) index shown meaningful differences. Type A had highest rate on emotional index and AB had it on active index. This study revealed meaningful relation between blood types and emotional character among several categories, while suggesting follow-up researches figuring out more detailed explanations for its effect and genetic role.

In this study, the properties of super flowing concrete containing fly ash were experimentally investigated and compared with those of ordinary concrete. Tests were carried out on five types of super flowing concrete mixes containing fly ash and three types of ordinary concrete mixes without fly ash. Flow test, 0-funnel test, box test, L type test and slump test were carried out to obtain the properties for flowability and workability of fresh concrete. The mechanical properties of hardened concrete were also investigated in terms of compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, modulus of elasticity, creep and drying shrinkage. In fresh concrete, it was found that super flowing concrete had excellent workability and flowability compared with ordinary concrete, and had self-compactable performance. Super flowing concrete *also had good mechanical properties at both early and late ages with compressive strength reaching as high as 40 MPa at 28 days. The creep deformation of super flowing concrete investigated was relatively lower than that of ordinary concrete, but drying shrinkage was much higher.
