저수지 주변 식물의 침수시 수질 영향 (Assessment of Water Quality Impact of Submerged Lakeside Macrophyte)

  • In summer and early autumn, eutrophication occurs occasionally in many reservoirs. Lakeside macrophyte which is one of internal pollutants effects on water quality when it is submerged during water surface is rising after rainy season. This study include examination of pollutant load, species of plant, community structure and productivity of macrophyte in unit area at lakeside. The result of this research will be used as a guideline of water quality management on reservoir through assessing water quality effect of submerged plant. The areal distribution, composition of species and submerged area of macrophyte changes according to rainfall pattern every year, so it is difficult to calculate nutrient load annually from submerged macrophyte. In this study, the nutrient load from submerged macrophyte assess from Daecheong and Juam reservoir in 2001. TN and TP load of submerged macrophyte shows 0.043% and 0.069%, respectively, of annual discharge load on Daecheong watershed. At lake Juam, TN and TP shows 0.64% and 1.28% load, respectively. The reason that nutrient load of lake Juam is greater than that of lake Daecheong is that macrophyte distribution area of lake Juam is 5 times greater than that of lake Daecheong. Total nutrient load of lake Daecheong is 3 times greater than that of lake Juam.

기저유출이 농업유역의 영양염류 유출에 미치는 영향 정량화 (Quantification of Baseflow Contribution to Nutrient Export from a Agricultural Watershed)

  • Baswflow is defined as short term discharge through groundwater caused by rainfall events. Impacts of baseflow is significant on water quality especially where pervious agricultural watershed as groundwater is more vulnerable to the contamination. In this study, the Cheongmicheon watershed was subjected to study to assess the impacts of baseflow on surface water quality, where more than 90% of pollutant load is originated from the livestock raising area, and very high probability of surface water contamination due to the baseflow. To estimate nutrient loading cased by baseflow, NI (Numerical Integration) model and LOADEST (LOADing ESTimation) model were used.

저강우연도 지하수 관개 필지논에서 수도재배기간 동안의 물질수지 (Water and Nutrient Mass Balances in Paddy Field with Groundwater Irrigation in Low-Rainfall Year)

  • Field experiment was performed to investigate water and nutrient mass balances in paddy field with groundwater irrigation from May to October, 2001. The total water inflow was about 1,183mm in which rainfall, overflow from upstream paddy, and groundwater irrigation accounted for 43, 30, and 27%, respectively. Notice that the precipitation of the study period was less than the average annual precipitation. The total drainage was almost balanced with the inflow and more than half of it was occurred by surface drainage. From the nutrient mass balance analysis, the T-P output (17.56kg/ha) was estimated slightly lower than the input (20.90kg/ha) and the T-N output (130.41kg/ha) was slightly greater than the input(129.24kg/ha). However, the difference was within the expectation and the nutrient mass was thought to be balanced considering uncertainties in field experiment and other activities not included in the study such as algae and soil microorganisms. The surface discharge of nutrient, which was about 10% of total nutrient output, was mainly affected by fertilization and rainfall runoff. Therefore, prudent surface drainage plan might be necessary particularly for the fertilization period to prevent degradation of receiving water quality. The study was performed under abnormally low rainfall compared to the average annual rainfall record, and further monitoring in diverse rainfalls and irrigation methods is recommended to estimate nutrient behavior in the paddy field more reasonably.

Difference of Nutrients Budgets in the Bohai Sea between 1982 and 1992 related to the Decrease of the Yellow River Discharge

  • Difference of Dissolved Inorganic Phosphorus (DIP), Dissolved Inorganic Nitrogen (DIN) and Dissolved Silicate (DSi) budgets in the Bohai Sea between 1982 and 1992 related the decrease of the Yellow River discharge is discussed on the basis of observed data. The estuarine circulation in the Bohai Sea had been weakened from 1982 to 1992 due to the decrease of the Yellow River discharge and the average residence time of fresh water had become longer. DIN concentration increased but DIP and DSi concentrations decreased from 1982 to 1992 in the Bohai Sea. Primary production was regulated mainly by water temperature and DIN concentration in 1982 but it was regulated mainly by DIP concentration in 1992. Primary production was larger than decomposition plus bottom release and nitrogen fixation was larger than denitrification in 1982. However, decomposition plus bottom release was larger than primary production and denitrification was larger than nitrogen fixation in 1992 in the Bohai Sea.

Enteral nutrition for optimal growth in preterm infants

  • Early, aggressive nutrition is an important contributing factor of long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes. To ensure optimal growth in premature infants, adequate protein intake and optimal protein/energy ratio should be emphasized rather than the overall energy intake. Minimal enteral nutrition should be initiated as soon as possible in the first days of life, and feeding advancement should be individualized according to the clinical course of the infant. During hospitalization, enteral nutrition with preterm formula and fortified human milk represent the best feeding practices for facilitating growth. After discharge, the enteral nutrition strategy should be individualized according to the infant's weight at discharge. Infants with suboptimal weight for their postconceptional age at discharge should receive supplementation with human milk fortifiers or nutrient-enriched feeding, and the enteral nutrition strategy should be reviewed and modified continuously to achieve the target growth parameters.

토마토 수경재배에서 플라즈마를 이용한 시들음병균(Fusarium oxysporum f. sp.) 불활성화 (Inactivation of Wilt Pathogen(Fusarium oxysporum f. sp.) using Plasma in Tomato Hydroponic Cultivation)

  • Circulating hydroponic cultivation has the advantage of reducing soil and water pollution problems caused by discharge of fertilizer components because the nutrient solution is reused. However, cyclic hydroponic cultivation has a low biological buffering capacity and can cause outbreaks of infectious root pathogens. Therefore, it is necessary to develop technologies or disinfection systems to control them. This study used dielectric barrier discharge plasma, which generates various persistent oxidants, to treat Fusarium oxysporum f. sp., a pathogen that causes wilt disease. Batch and intermittent continuous inactivation experiments were conducted, and the results showed that the total residual oxidant was persistent in intermittent plasma treatment at intervals of 2-3 days, and F. oxysporum was treated efficiently. Intermittent plasma treatment did not inhibit the growth of tomatoes.

BIO-CLOD를 이용한 고도처리공정에서의 영양염류 제거 (Nutrient Removal in an Advanced Treatment Process using BIO-CLOD)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of BIO-CLOD on advanced wastewater treatment for enhanced removal efficiency and meeting the stringent discharge water requirements of wastewater treatment plants. Methods: Two experimental apparatuses consisting of anaerobic, anoxic and aeration tanks were operated. One included a BIO-CLOD cultivation tank. Organic and nutrient parameters and removal efficiency were analyzed by pH, BOD, CODcr, SS, T-N and T-P. Results: The average removal efficiencies of BOD, COD and SS from the apparatus with BIO-CLOD tank installation were 95.5%, 88.6% and 92.9%, respectively, and these were higher than the results from the apparatus without BIO-CLOD. The average TP removal efficiency with BIO-CLOD tank marked 56.0%, higher than the 47.3% from the apparatus without one. BIO-CLOD showed a higher performance for TN removal at 49.6%, compared to the result without BIO-CLOD of 34.3% Conclusion: By reaction with BIO-CLOD, ammonia removal was effective in the aeration tank, as was phosphorus release in the anaerobic tank. Phosphorus luxury uptake and nitrification in aeration tank proceeded smoothly. The application of BIO-CLOD can improve the decrease of odor and settleability of activated sludge in a wastewater treatment plant, as well as increase the removal efficiency of organic and nutrient materials in water.

소하천 하구(남해 당항포)에서 자연적, 인위적 요인이 영양염 분포에 미치는 영향 (Characteristics of Nutrient Distribution by the Natural and Artificial Controlling Factors in Small Stream Estuary)

  • 본 연구는 소하천 하구의 영양염 분포를 조절하는 요인에 대해 알아보기 위하여 수행되었다. 남해안 당항포에 위치한 세 하천(닫힌 하구: 고성천, 열린 하구: 구만천, 마암천)에서 2010-12년까지 계절별로 영양염(질산염, 암모늄, 인산염) 농도를 측정하였다. 고성천의 댐은 담수의 희석을 막고 체류시간을 증가시켜 높은 영양염 농도의 원인이 되어 인위적인 요인이 소하천 하구의 영양염 분포에 중요함을 나타내었다. 그 외에 물리, 기후, 생지화학적 요인이 세 하천 영양염 분포에 영향을 주었다. 세 하천 모두에서 질산염은 상류에서 높고 하류로 갈수록 감소하였다. 이것은 상류 집수역에서 공급이 많고, 하류로 갈수록 희석 및 하구 내 생지화학적 과정에 의한 제거가 활발하기 때문으로 여겨진다. 특히 탈질소화 등 대표적인 생지화학적 질소영양염 제거과정은 상류에서 하류로 갈수록 감소하는 경향이 뚜렷하였다. 그러나 암모늄과 인산염은 하천에서 유입되는 농도가 높은 경우에만 상류에서 하류로 갈수록 농도가 낮아지는 경향이 뚜렷하게 나타났다. 영양염 농도의 계절 분포는 여름철에 낮고, 겨울철에 높은 경향을 보였다. 여름철 유량으로 인해 체류시간이 감소하였고, 희석 증가로 하천 내 영양염 농도를 감소시켰으며, 높은 수온으로 인한 생물 생산에 의한 영양염 제거 역시 낮은 영양염 농도에 영향을 주었다. 소하천 하구는 높은 질소제거율(-k) 을 가지는 등 대형하구와는 구별되는 영양염 거동을 보이며 향후 소하천 하구 관리를 위해서는 이러한 특성을 파악하는 것이 필수적이다.

새만금 하구역의 이화학적 환경요인에 따른 수질 평가 (The Evaluation of Water Quality in Coastal Sea of Saemangeum by Chemical Environmental factors)

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate chemical water quality by hourly monitoring(25hr) of Saemangeum esturary. For this study, we selected 2 sites like a Mangyong Bridge(St. 6) and Dongjin Bridge(St. 7). Inflow of salt water was not detected during low tide(maximum 553, 508cm) of all stations, while the salinity rises were detected in spring tide(750cm). When 602m of maximum tide was reached, salinity concentration was increased at St. 7, while there was no change in St. 6. Therefore, We know that salinity variation is greatly influenced by tide height at survey site. Also, significant variance of salinity(p<0.05) was found between St. 6 and St. 7 because dike construction made the flood tide move into the Dongjin river. Total suspened solids(TSS) concentration was increased because of the river runoff at St. 6, and also the turbulance and resuspension according to salt intrusion at St. 7. During the high tide, the water discharge from the sea seemed to dilute the nutrient but to elevate TSS concentration in St. 7. Silicate and nitrate concentrations in the studied site were decreased by the mixing of sea water, whereas the evident trend of phosphate concentration was not found. This result can be explained by the phosphorus condition. Phosphorus exists inactive when it is affected by hydrated iron and adsorbed onto suspended matters. Compared to the environmental conditions of the St. 6 and St. 7, physical factors such as temperature, dissolved oxygen and TSS have statistically no significant difference(p<0.001), but nutrient concentrations were higher at St. 6 than St. 7. It could be suggested from these results that it is important to control the discharge of fresh water by sewage treatment plants located in St. 6 for water quality management.

폐쇄성 해역의 오염부하 특성과 해역환경변화 (Loading Characteristics and Environmental Changes in Closed Coastal Water)

  • 국내에서 가장 전형적인 폐쇄성 해역인 마산만은 연안도시인 마산시와 창원시의 배수지역이다. 유역인구가 약 100만명으로 증가된 시점인 1993년 11월에 마산시 덕동하폐수종말처리장이 가동되기 시작하였으며, 그 유출수는 마산내만에서 약 15km 떨어진 옥계해역에 방류되기 시작하였다. 본 연구에서는 마산만 유입부하의 분포가 어떻게 변화하였으며, 유입부하량과 유입오염물질의 성상은 어떠한 가를 규명하였다. 또한 마산만 유입부하 특성의 변화가 폐쇄성 연안 수질에 어떠한 영향을 주고 있는가를 연구하였다.
